The store itself is very clean and well stocked however the customer service in the cat adoption department is very disappointing, I walked in with my mom to restock on kitty litter and saw the employee (blonde frizzy ponytail with a teal piercing) holding a kitten with all the tents set up to display the adoptable kittens. She saw my mother and I eagerly approach the kitty cubicles too coo and play with them and she brought back the kitten into his cubicle instead of placing him in the tent. She mean mugged us in the nastiest way and offered no assistance or introduction to any of the kittens or cat adoption program almost in a profiling way. I myself own two happy kitties and volunteer at a cat sanctuary in Texas, so it saddens me to have such an ugly and poor experience with an employee who is meant to facilitate the cat adoption and find these fur babies a loving home with nice families. Once my mother and I went to check out I saw her finally start to put the cats in their tents ready to display this unfortunately confirmed my suspicions that she was uninterested in helping us bond with the cats at all as she waited until we were leaving. A simple hello and welcoming smile when customers approach the cat adoption department goes a long way when establishing connections with potential foster families for cats and future owners. read more

This is my go-to for curbside service! I like the ease of the app and pickup. I only have to go inside the store when it is dark. There has been 2 occasions where I didn't receive the correct product or the product wasn't as expected. The manager quickly corrected the issue. For me, Petsmart is the perfect pet store. They have a great selection of products we use often for our dog. The shampoos are perfect, they have doggie toothpaste, collars and leashes for dogs of all sizes. The dog food we feed our pup is available here, and the toys, so many toys. Overall Petsmart is a one-stop shop for our pup and I'm really happy we can find so many useful items in one pet store. read more

I have used PetSmart locations all over the country to groom my Schnauzer pup for the past 12 years with no problems. Since I'm new in town, I decided to stick with what I've done before and found the PetSmart closest to me. I ended up going to the Metairie location and had a groomer named Gail. My dog has separation anxiety and she seemed impatient with her from the time she started whimpering when we walked in. To be fair, Lexie was acting more scared than usual this time, but acting short and mad with her is not going to help calm her down. We discussed what I wanted done (schnauzer face, trim her mustache, 10 blade shave for the body) and she seemed very skeptical that I knew what I was talking about. She consulted her computer and saw notes from previous groomings that said exactly what I had just said. She read it back to me (schnauzer face, trim mustache, 10 blade body) and I confirmed and left. When I got there to pick her up, I saw she had completely cut off my dog's beard! It looked TERRIBLE! There was also a long strand that she had missed! She no longer looks like a Schnauzer. Her beard doesn't grow (it has been the same length for the past 10 years with no trims). She is never going to look right again! Gail was already gone, so I couldn't even get answers as to why she had done this! We never talked about cutting off her beard. The store manager did comp my grooming, but that does not make this better in any way. I will NEVER use this place again and I hope everyone else stays away! If you do decide to use them DO NOT use Gail. She is terrible! read more

Dog Urine and feces on the floor and workers literally walking past it like they don't see it. Shelves are not stocked properly with cans on top of cans instead of nice and neat. Gross. I ordered online from here and mistakenly forgot to pick up the order. I received an email confirming payment, and another confirming the order was ready for pickup, but nothing following that. A couple weeks later I called realizing my mistake to see if the order could still be picked up. They said it couldn't, and that I would have been refunded, asked my order number, and said it couldn't be picked up. All that was fine, but I checked, and the order was not refunded. I submitted a complaint online, they told me I had to call the store (which I had already done). I called the store, they told me I needed to contact the online system, I pointed out I had already done that. Eventually I spoke with the same person I had previously talked to and they said there was no record of my payment and that the order was still marked for pick up. They said they couldn't refund me, even though I had a record of payment. I'm disputing with Cit credit card, so hopefully that will get it resolved. I'm not sure if this is some kind of scam the employees are running or if it's just incompetence, but it's still ridiculous. read more

I'm not sure what's up with all these bad reviews, but I've had nothing but good experiences at this location. Let me preface this by saying I live 5 minutes from the Harvey location and would rather drive across the river every month for services at the Metairie location. I have a husky and he gets the bath and brush with Furminator plus package. When we went to the Harvey location, they took 4 hours to groom him minimum. The first time I went, they also forgot to call me to tell me he was done and he had really bad separation anxiety at that point because he's a rescue pup. A few groomings in, I noticed he just really did not want to go back there. He'd get into the store and then plant his feet and really try to go back to the car. At that point, I took him to this Metairie location. We get the same package with Jennifer G every month and Saint ADORES her. He's excited when we pull up and he walks himself back to the grooming salon. Jennifer always finishes in about an hour to an hour and a half which is super impressive because he's a husky with husky fur and shedding. She also sends me pictures every month with a new bandanna against a themed backdrop and it's so stinking cute. I'm gonna have a calendar made. The groomings aren't cheap, but they're well worth it. We've also done training classes at this location. Saint picks up on tricks pretty quickly, but I had him registered as my ESA and wanted to sharpen up his skills in public with lots of distractions. He loved our trainer Stephanie. He was so excited to go to school every week and graduated their intermediate program. He was an angel in the airport. Going through TSA was a breeze and all the flight attendants loved him and said he was so well behaved. read more

I love the fact that I can order things online and then go right to the register and pick them up. I can research products, know that they are in stock and I won't waste my time. I ordered something online today and it was ready for pick up in less than an hour. When I do need to shop, there is always an associate on the floor ready to assist. I've purchased items for my fish and my cat here. There is a wide selection of products and lines are short. I prefer this store over the other popular pet store because they have things in stock whereas the other store often doesn't. They had the most adorable cats for adoption as well! read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! There are WAYYYY BETTER and CHEAPER local groomers throughout NOLA than these hacks. Grossly appalled at how awful they treated me and my dogs during our recent grooming experience here! I booked the appt online and got a call mere minutes after saying WHY DID YOU BOOK THIS APPOINTMENT DONT YOU KNOW WERE NOT OPEN THEN!! No?? It showed available online?? We rescheduled and then when we brought our dog there they said they couldn't view the notes from other petsmart and they were like "well we don't know what to do with your dog" and we begged and pleaded to just do the normal haircut and then FOUR HOURS AND OVER A HUNDRED DOLLARS LATER all they said was "sorry we tried" and we trudged home with our poor mangled mutt who was definitely worse for wear after this horrifying expensive experience. Didn't even attempt to trim anywhere besides the potty area. Absolutely worse for wear and a waste of our time and money. A complete sham and scam. They need to be shut down!!! I shop at Pet Smart a few times a week as I have many cats to feed. My cats will only eat one brand of cat food and recently both of the Pet Smarts where I live are stocking the brand of cat food I need. I could go to other groceries here where I live but they are so expensive and never have the kind my cats eat either. I just wish that Pet Smart would keep there shelves stocked. read more

Today I brought in my 14 year old terrier mix in for a grooming. I received a text message saying he was all done so I drove over to get him. When I'm in the store about to walk in I received a phone call asking if I wanted his tail trimmed. I said yes, but I had received a text message saying he was all done. The woman on the phone said "no he's not done, he's been hard to groom. Moving around too much." Which, put me off a little as I've never had anyone complain about grooming my dog. I walk over to the store beside petsmart to kill some time and about 20 minutes later I get the call that he's finished. I tell the person on the phone that I'll check out and head over, the person on the phone seems annoyed, but I ignore it. When I walk back over to pick up my dog Gail, the woman who groomed him says, "We won't be able to groom him anymore, he's too old and moves too much." This seems beyond rude to me and I tell her that won't be a problem, I'm never coming back here. She goes on to say it's not safe for him. He is deaf, which we had told her when we dropped him off. He cries like a deaf dog, which is a very annoying sound, but I think if you're in the business of caring for pets you should be more patient and understanding. I've been taking Okee to PetSmart for the past 7 years (not the veterans location, but others) and I've never heard anyone say anything other than how sweet he is. His haircut was so choppy. The bill came up to $70! I talked to the manager on the way out and she said Gail shouldn't have said that they can't groom him any more and that someone else could fix his hair, but there's no way I'll ever go back there. I don't feel as though the manager really cared that we had such a bad experience. As a paying customer I do not like to be treated as an inconvenience. The young lady who helped us took her time and even showed us how to properly put the shirt on our doggie. Another customer allowed his dog to be used as a model. She told us to make sure to try it out and if it didn't work to bring it back. The other pet store is closer to us, but we come to this store because of the staff. The store has a great amount of products for dogs, a little for cats, and less for other animals. Their prices are pretty high, but if your pet needs s special diet you most likely can find it here. And having the vet/Banfield in the back of the store is a great plus. They also have a groomer in the back also. I only gave 4 stars due to the high prices & not enough cat items. read more

I'm writing this review for Chassie the groomer she was very kind and friendly to my Luna. She did a wonderful job with grooming my girl. Thank you Chassie. However, I am taking a star off, Not because of Chassie but because of the other young lady who rang us up in the front of the store. I was informed she was here less than a month and has been rude to many customers. I asked her about the price and she rudely snapped at me "I don't know You need to take that up with Grooming". From what I understand, Your job is to Exceed above and beyond for the customer and to never be rude with customers. She was extremely Rude and condescending. After giving explicit directions not to trim my cavalier's tail, skirt, or ears...they did it anyway...and way shorter than a simple clean up trim. This is the 2nd and last time this will happen as we are taking our business elsewhere. Come here all the time to get my dog's food and supplies. They have really good sales on dog food when you join their Pet Perks reward card program. I can usually stock up when the food goes on sale for $1.00 a can. Also, they have the best selection of rawhide, bones, and chews for dogs. I go at least once a week.... read more

Years ago when my Boston Terrier was just a puppy we went to and used this store for everything; food, training classes, grooming, vet services, literally EVERYTHING!!! At that time everyone was so pleasant always greeted me by name or as "Samies mom" and always made me feel welcomed! Now that my dog is grown and I've added 3 more to my family I don't go much but when I do no one really greets you, no one ever smiles and I've not once in the last 3 times I visit has anyone approached me and asked me if needed assistance. Today I went and after checking out I went and visited the cats that are adoptable like I always do and they had a full grown orange tabby cat in a small squares "cage" with a litter box and a boxed area for him/her to sit on leaving NO ROOM AT ALL for this animal to move around. I asked a gentleman "why y'all have a full grown cat in such a small area where he can't even move around" and he said "oh we've had larger than him in that area" I proceeded with my opinion which he just ignored me and proceeded to walk away!!! I know to some people working there may just be "a job" but you can not work in a store like this without having a live for animals and it just seems like the people who work here now couldn't care less about much of anything!! I think I'm just going to have to find another petsmart to go to,which sucks being this one is literally Tight down the street but I rather go further and leave with an enjoyable experience than to leave with a feeling!!!! I hate to write a less-than-stellar review, but I was honestly surprised by the level of service here. After being unable to schedule a quick grooming visit with Petco, I decided to give PetSmart a try since they had the feature to schedule online (something I was thrilled to see!). I scheduled a Bath (to cover hair, nails, ears, etc.) for 1:00-2:00pm on a Saturday. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt that they were just busy. After arriving and checking in, I handed over my pup, expecting to wait in the store and shop a while during her scheduled time. Once they'd already taken my dog back, I was told to "come back in a few hours." What? I inquired again, and was, yes, told to come back after a few hours, and was told that I'd receive a call when my dog's appointment was done. I was very surprised and put off, since I'd scheduled a specific timeframe online for the appointment due to afternoon plans that couldn't be changed, but went on my way anyway, not happy to just leave my puppy there. Two and a half hours later I still hadn't received a call from the grooming department at PetSmart, so I called to check in. I was told that she'd been done for 35 minutes and that they'd sent me a text -- which I never received -- and was argued with over whether or not I received the text message, with the employee eventually just telling me that PetSmart didn't support my cellphone carrier (which, they do, because I was required to select it online). As nicely as I could, I explained that I had been told I'd receive a phone call specifically, and that it would've been nice to know she was finished. I finally got back over there, my dog sitting in the back for over 45 minutes. Once I arrive, I was again asked, "So you didn't get a text message?" Not only did I not receive a text, but I never got the call I was told to expect. The groomer was very sweet and attentive, and it was obvious that my dog loved them all, so I hate to complain. The cherry on top was getting to the front of the store and checking out, only to discover that an additional service had been added on and I paid far more than I was expecting. Probably won't be visiting this location again, despite the great product selection and friendly groomers. read more

The Covington store is horrible! I got Gracie a 7 week old Chihuahua September 5, went to pick up items for her and signed her up for training classes that day and paid in full! I got a call 2 days later from the trainer who told me she didn't have a class that day. I asked her to plz call me back the next day as I was running late for a Dr appt. Never received that call! 2 weeks later I call the store again, she (trainer) had taken a few days off and she will call me the next day. Never got that call so I called 2 days later explaining I'm having surgery Nov 9 need my $$ back to take Gracie somewhere else. Immediately the trainer gets on the phone and I gave in and she offered 2 free private classes so 2nd week of OCTOBER we go to that class when it's over I thank her ask what day next week, she said she would Txt me! It's October 18th and nothing! Not a word!! Very unprofessional! Now my 14 week old Gracie will miss classes since I have neck surgery coming up!!!! read more

I went in on April 7, 2015 looking for a citronella spray, for use of dogs off leash while I am walking mine. Another customer and I walked up to a male employee at the same time, she's asked her question first and he asked what I needed. I told him and he said down that isle. I asked what the brand name was, he said it will say citronella and told me he would come when done with other customer. When he was done with the other customer, he just looked at me and walked away. I proceeded to put my other products, I was going to buy, back on the shelves and leave. I am a dog trainer and foster dogs frequently, I spend a lot of money on pet products. I will now only go to Jefferson Feed for everything I need. They have always been friendly and helpful there and worth the extra time and miles to go there. read more

I went to the PetSmart in Metairie, Louisiana on December 1, 2012. There was a blond hair cashier, who I heard was the manager named Amanda. She was rude to me saying that I was giving her a fraudulent coupon for a Science Diet dog food. I told her that I received that coupon by email from signing up through the Science Diet company's website. Amanda was giving me an attitude and raised her voice at me in a rude tone, saying that my coupon had the company name on it called "www.coupons.com", and she said that "www.coupons.com" was a fraudulent company. Amanda was not courteous about the situation. She acted as though I created a false coupon from a computer software. She was an extremely rude manager for raising her voice at me in an angry tone. I will never buy anything from Petsmart again. I learned in business school, that for every customer complaint, the company will lose 7 more customers, because the customer will also tell their friends how much that company sucks. read more
