The dog food prices are higher than most competitors. The heavy duty collars and leashes are poor quality and willn't last long for my 20lb Beagle. I have bought 2 harness and both broke within the first week. Each time I went to the W stores and bought replacements that I'm still using months latter so to me it's an obvious quality issue. By far the worst experience at a petsmart yet. My complaint is more so with the Banfield Clinic inside. I scheduled an appointment for my dog to get one shot. The actual shot didn't take too long, though it was way more expensive than any other place for a Rabies shot. After the shot it took the cashier over 30 minutes to print my receipt and rabies tag so I could leave. I waited for 30 minutes with a dog and crying baby and the cashier took her time answering about ten phone calls and fiddling with papers. It was absolutely ridiculous to wait that long once the service was already complete. I won't be coming back. read more

To say that I adore this place is an understatement. We got our pup about 6 weeks ago from LHS and needless to say this has been a weekly staple for our household every since we got her. We love spoiling her and cost wise it's worth the drive. They have several, more holistic treats and eats that we prefer to feed our pup. It's always clean, which is amazing considering the traffic they get (people and pups alike). The staff is always so helpful and the experience is always great. At this PetSmart we have shopped retail, used the grooming service, and begun training classes. Retail has been average. Prices are much higher for the same products I can get elsewhere. Checkout usually has a long wait as well. Grooming services were great. My dog looked, smelled and felt wonderful (he was soft), and most importantly he was happy when we picked him up. This is my one stop shop for pampering my fur babies. From grooming to obedience classes and of course the normal pet supplies, I recommend it all. The groomers get quite busy on the weekends so I try to schedule the grooming during the weekday. My only quarrel is the pricing isn't consistent. Every time that I buy dog food, it's at a different price. read more

i took my dog to get her nails trimmed and anal glands expressed and they did the nails but not the glands and charged me for both.

So this place gets a bad wrap as a corporate evil place from pet people in the industry, but I disagree. They have good prices on dog food, toys, etc. The people working there are very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. read more

Everyone was super nice. But a little over 2 weeks ago I bought 4 fish. I bought 2 Rubber lips and 2 tetras. The lady working with the fish told me that the tetras and such would be fine going into a 10 gallon tank with my 2 goldfish. And now it's two weeks later. Both tetras died. One rubber lip died and one of my healthiest goldfish died. The other is soon to come he just floats around on the bottom. read more

I like this Petsmart because of their co-op with the Lexington Humane Society, and because I can get all my guinea pig supplies at a pretty good price. However, when it comes to treats and toys and the actual pets their prices are kind of high, but not more than any other chain. read more

This past weekend I bought my usual cup of large mealworms as well as a cup of wax worms. This has happened every time I visit petsmart but this was the first time this degree. I only had 20/35 mealworms, the rest were dead. And I only had 25/35 wax worms, the rest were dead and the others looked dark, squishy and close to death. I will NEVER visit petsmart again. They are HIGHLY incompetent when it comes to reptiles. No one had any info about my animals, had no clue about their husbandry. I called to see if I could get a refund on the worms and the lady who answered (who claimed to be the manager) couldn't have cared less that most were dead and wanted me to drive another 30 minutes to get a refund or replace them and I only had that day to do it cause then they would think I fed my animal and tried to bring them back. My leopard gecko actually refuses to eat anything dead so I gaurentee he wants nothing to do with what you all sold to me. Attached are photos and this is not the first time. I've actually never purchased a full order with all live worms. I'd much rather find an online vendor with insurance of live feed arriving ALIVE. read more

Corporate took care of me they really care not so much the store alone. I bought a $150.00 cockatiel I took it to the vet on its last day of warranty. The vet said it had a upper respiratory infection and gave me 10 days of antibiotics. I already talked to the manager at the store and she was ok with me keeping it and bringing it back when the meds were done but got aggrivated that I called and asked questions and told me to bring my sick bird in when it only had 2 more days of antibiotics left. I bought a space heater because the vet said it had to be 85 degrees so she would get better. They took her and told me they were putting her in the sick room and she died the next day. I had to call, they didnt call me to even tell me she passed and the lady said they keep the animals in the sick room at room temp. I tried saving her life and was out a expensive vet bill in which she was sick with in the warranty days. The boss there said if I didn't bring her back that day she was not going to give me my money back. They didnt even have a bird vet there. Sick birds were taken to the vet from there. They know nothing about birds. If its a 10 degree rapid drop in temperatures it kills them. I told the main people at pet smart in Az and I was able to get the 150.00 pus 40.00 gift card back to buy a months supply of bird food for my other 2 birds. They really care at the corporate office but not in the Hamburg pavilion Lexington KY petsmart store. I forgot to also add the first lady who picked up the phone when I said I took my bird to the vet what option do I have if she died... Said rudely we don't pay for vet bills... And I said... If you hear me out, I'm not asking that!!!!! read more

Petsmart staff are very helpful with finding an item if it is not on the shelf. Great deals on the pet perks card. Higher prices than some of the other stores for treats and toys but very good selection. read more

I had my sons dog named Lilly over at PetSmart today and they messed up at the cash register when I checked in, by not listing all the services that I wanted done to the dog. Then while they were doing the toe nails the attendant cut the nail on rear paw into the quick. She didnt bother to tell me about that but when I got home the paw was bleeding. I was totally dissatisfied with my trip to PetSmart at Hamburg this morning and wont be going back. read more

We usually come here for all of our needs and everyone is usually very sweet and helpful, however, I stopped in on Sunday to get a new fish for our aquarium and the woman that was supposed to be be helping in that section was very, very rude. Before I say anything, I want to urge you to not let bad people ruin an opportunity for an animal to have a good home. That said, I have never had such a strange experience when trying to adopt an animal. Was I blatantly lied to twice about the details of adoption? I feel like I was. All of my attempts (phone calls, visits) amounted to squat and the animal I wanted to take home with me disappeared out from under my nose, which seemed fishy to me, but whatever. The point I want to make is that there is either poor training for the employees, or everyone here has an ulterior motive. I have never been so confused by any store's staff as I was by Petsmart in Hamburg. I must say that a couple of the PAWS representatives are just fantastic people who really do all they can because they truly have the animals' best interest in their heart. I really wish I could say the same in regards to the actual Petsmart Hamburg staff. read more

I'm here to rate the groomers, not the entire store. The first time i took my dog they listed him as a hound mix, his nails were trimmed but still too long. Was charged $22. Took him again everything was fine, but they changed his breed to a terrier. Was charged $43. Thats fine. The last time i took him his haircut was weird and they had him in as a schnauzer and charged me $50.. when i asked why they respond with "well we charge by what we think the dog is" so you think the dog is 3 breeds within year? (Also for a full comprehension of how ridiculous this is, my dog is white with copper tones... please correct me if anyone has ever seen a copper schnauzer) read more

We frequently take our dog to petsmart for training, grooming, and veterinary care, however we had a very negative experience today with the grooming salon. Usually we are very satisfied with our experience, so this review is more about the specific employee rather than the location as whole. We brought our dog in for a walk in, and she was taken by Sam to get her nails clipped. She had a bit of an attitude when I asked her to trim the fur on her feet but she agreed. When we picked her up (literally 6 minutes later) she told us not to bring our dog in on Saturday's because she skittish and it's not safe for her or the employees. She scolded us in front of all the other employees and the other customers in there and made it seem like we have a bad dog and like we bad dog owners. I watched almost half the grooming and our dog barely moved. Our dog is a rescue and she is often nervous, but in the 15 times we've taken her to the grooming salon nobody has ever said anything. She seemed overwhelmed with having to take a walk in, and she took it out on us and our dog. read more

I just left the grooming salon, and I am far from a happy customer. I just brought my 6 month old puppy (that I adopted) in and I told them he had never been groomed before and I get a call a hour later saying they can not finish the grooming because he is so panicked. I come to pick him up and I am brought to tears instantly. You can see where the clipper started and stopped, and he is extremely uneven. This was the worst experience i could ever imagine for my first grooming. read more
