Please save your dogs life and do not bring them to Flemington petsmart grooming. My beautiful healthy bull died died yesterday while receiving a routine grooming. Petsmart will not answer questions on how my dog died and keeps saying it's under investigation. Forty minutes after I dropped my dog off at petsmart I received a message that my dog was rushed to local vet. My dog was dead upon arrival and dropped off like a pizza. No one was there from pet smart to console me. My healthy dog died in the grooming area. Pls save your dog, pls do not use petsmart grooming. We are still In shock and sadden beyond words for the loss of our beloved pet. We are still waiting for answers from petsmart! read more

This PetSmart is just alright. The Store is small not much selection. Plus the last 2 times I went there the cashier had a bad attitude. It really wasn't a pleasure shopping there because of that. I'd rather drive out of town for a different pet store. it's good if you just need pet food quick and don't mind the attitude. read more

After much research, I fortunately found Pet Smart in Flemington where they professionally handled a 120 lbs Bernese/Poodle mix who was turned away by many nearby groomers because of his size. First rate staffer, Sara, did a beautiful grooming job and delivered back a total makeover, a 4 year old now converted into a bouncing puppy who was clearly delighted with his grooming session. My husband's taken our dog for baths here at least 5 times. In the beginning, they used "tangerine" shampoo which was nice. However, on one occasion, our dog came home smelling of cheap perfume!! Are you serious?? In June, for the first time they couldn't cut his nails. We had to take him to the vet to have it done. The only positive experience I've had is shopping for our dog's gifts. I no longer feel this PetSmart location {or any PetSmart} is a safe place for my dog and I won't be shopping here in the future. Dogs have been killed and injured at the hands of groomers here & other locations. When these deaths are happening over and over again at multiple PetSmart locations, they can not be called an accidents but negligence & disregard for life.... My dog is a valued member of my family the same as anyone else in my family. Because he is a canine we don't feel any differently about him. Canine beings matter just as much as Human beings. I suggest home grooming is now a safer alternative, in light of recent incidents. read more

Its a pet store with friendly staff who really like pets. They groom though I've never used that service & do dog training sessions with a very nice trainer which is why we go. Only complaint is the high prices in the store which drives me to seek alternatives for most items. read more

This review is for the grooming salon. I have had a very poor experience in the grooming salon recently. My dog is 15, and I originally booked a grooming session in Bridgewater NJ on a Saturday. Upon arriving, the salon was very busy and apparently with some mix up in scheduling (for other people but ended up delaying the queue) several people took a look at my dog and asked repeatedly what needs to be done (bath and clip nails). Finally the manager came in and said she was not comfortable with handling such an old dog and their salon is always busy, and suggested that I go to another Petsmart that's less busy. I took the recommendation and called Flemington, and they told me no problem so I booked Sunday 10AM on 11/6. After arriving they also took some looks at my dog and told me they need to perform an express service just to wash quickly and dry. I thought my dog doesn't need to look pretty, just clean is fine. I was given an estimate of 1 to 1.5 hours. 30 minutes later I got a call saying it was done. I found 2 extra charges on my bill: one for "express" service and one for special handling because someone had to hold the dog constantly and they were busy. After unsuccessfully arguing with the salon, I almost checked out but went back again and someone agreed to take off the "special handling". Mind you, the entire salon had about 10 minutes to evaluate the situation before agreeing to take the dog for service. And when I was initially told of the "express" service, I was thinking about quick-wash vs detailed cleaning and I thought quick wash was fine I am not picky. I totally didn't expect going to a salon, paying for ~2 hours of service only to get 30 minutes, and then get slapped with 2 additional charges and feel like I owe them huge favors for taking me as a customer. I love the grooming salon. All the groomers are kind and conscientious and they take great care of my dogs. I love that I can book online and that they have a lot of availability, which means I can book last minute. I really appreciate this flexibility. Also, I make a point of going during the week when they are not as busy. They charge less for weekday appointments and I feel more comfortable having my dogs there when the staff is not rushed and stressed. read more

I brought my 13 year old boxer to get groomed, nails trimmed, and teeth brushed on 8/19/13. This is the first time she has ever gotten groomed so I thought it would be nice to go for her birthday. The next day I noticed fleas on her. She is never in contact with other dogs or any animals and she has never had fleas before. I immediately called PetSmart to tell them about the fleas and was quickly transfered to the manager who told me there is absolutely no way my dog got the fleas there because they dont accept dogs with fleas. I told her I would never be back and was upset I spent $50 and my dog came home with fleas and she said she was sorry and hung up. The manager's name was Carla. VERY rude.. I will never go back to this filthy store and never subject my 13 year old dog to this mess! read more

Probably the worst pet store and groomers I have ever dealt with. This was my second time going there they asked if the dog had its rabies shot I said ,we've been there before , you have all the paperwork they said they lost it and I needed to bring it in. So I went to vet again for the paper work. Then when I showed up for my appointment I explain to them that my dog has anxiety that he was on meds and they told me they would not take the dog. You would think that they would tell me this on the phone before I drove 30 minutes to get my dog groomed. This store is always out of the hamster treats that I usually buy my little friend. I had to settle for the guinea pig variety of basically the same treat. Luckily she eats those with no problems. I have always dealt with Petco before moving to Ringoes and now the closest store is PetSmart. What a big disappointment. Staff is not friendly and/or helpful. They just let you wander the store and hope you find what you need, so as not to bother them. But, I WAS able to find a near exact twin at this store to the female hamster who passed away. Another great grooming experience with Sara. Sara is truly an exceptional groomer who does an excellent job each time. She cares about her clients and goes above and beyond to make them feel comfortable. When in her care I know my dogs are safe. When I pick them up they are always happy and even when we are shopping they have to go in and say hello to the girls. I have been taking my pup there for a few years. Sara is his groomer and she is very good. She always gives me a time estimate, works with my schedule and is generally finished ahead of schedule. The whole staff is super friendly and they seem to have good relationships with the animals that are brought in. My pup doesn't like the nail grinding so they clip him instead. They offer recommendations depending on the condition of his skin and hair (which sometimes gets small mats) which I find very helpful. I am very happy with the experience. I have been having my cockapoo, Gracie, groomed at the Flemington Petsmart since February 2017. Gracie is a sweet, extremely curious, and highly excitable puppy but Amanda has been very patient with her and does an excellent job grooming her. I also like the "pawgress report" I receive each time explaining what services were completed and additional notes about Gracie. Amanda, along with the other dog groomers, is very helpful with suggestions involving puppy behaviors and issues. I will continue to have my dog groomed at the Flemington Petsmart and highly recommend their grooming services...... especially the groomer Amanda! read more

BUYER BEWARD....My husband had fish tanks since he was a kid. We have had the same fish for over 10 years, one fish was 8 inches long, his favorite. He bought two fish tank ARTIFICIAL plants, one plastic and one silk. After putting in the new artificial plants, within hours the fish started to die, one after another.(He did soak the plants in cured safe water before putting it in the 30 gallon tank) The tank is 15 years old, looks like new and well maintained and regularly cleaned . He was heartbroken after all his years of taking care of them. After doing some online research, apparently it was the dye in the silk plant from CHINA. The brand National Geographic. PetSmart settled with him for a $200. store gift card to be used their only. They did take the silk plant off the shelves temporarily and TODAY WHEN HE WENT TO PURCHASE FISH, the brand was back on the shelf? WARNING BUYER BEWARE, you could lose all of your fish like he did. He contacted NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC AND THEY DID NOT RESPOND? BEWARE OF THE NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC BRAND. Because of all the negative reviews, this location should be closed. read more

Went to pick up a rat, and even called ahead to make sure they had one, I was transfered to the manager, who told me they had one left, I told her I would be there shortly and hung up. I left my house immediately afterwards to drive the forty minutes there, and when I got there the entire rat cage was gone. There were no rats. I went to the small animal associate and asked about the rat and told her that I had called ahead. She was very pleasant, but seemed very confused and said that her manager had just bought the last one and they would not have anymore for another week. I am very dissappinted with my trip here, and will NEVER come here for anything again. Stick to Petco. read more

Flemington/Raritan store is good and in their defense, dog grooming is stressful to the pet especially as they grow older. We had taken dogs there for some time but there was only one groomer who was bad and he should hopefully be gone by now. Worst pet store I've ever been in. Tiny and cramped. Poor selection of fish. I walked in and there were groups of associates meandering around. I went in to see if they had saltwater fish and there were 4 associates in the tiny tank area "lounging" around. 1 was chillin on a small ladder. I took my dog to get groomed and nails cut, an hour later they called and said my dog was ready to be picked up, when I got there the stylist Susan said they where unable to get her nails cut or brushed out because she seamed a little anxious due to the other dogs that where there. My dog is a certified emotional support dog she goes in hospitals . there was no reason they could not of got her groomed except that they where busy and just wanted to get her and the other dogs out, I asked if they could just cut her nails they said no they did not feel comfortable doing that. they charged me $39.00 for just to wash her !! I took my dog up the road to the "Grooming den" they cut her nails filed them smooth, and brushed her with other dogs there at half the price. Never again for pet smart will I take any of my animals there. They are lazy looking for big $ to do nothing. read more

Clean store, helpful staff and easy to find items. Not as big as some of the other Petsmart locations I've been to but I find that to be a good thing. Seems to be a friendly, knowledgeable associate available at all times. I go for the dog products so I have not checked out the other half of the store. I made an appointment for our English Mastiff to be groomed several days out. I got a phone call reminder of the appointment the day before. The appointment was for 1pm. We dropped off our dog on time and an hour and a half later I called to see what's taking so long since we always get a call within an hour of dropping him off. A groomer said it will be at least another hour. I asked if they even started him yet and her response was, "no." I said to her, "so you just kept my 185 lb, 9-year-old mastiff in a cage for an hour and a half?!?!" Her amazing response was, "Yes. We had an express wash come in." So basically, after making an appointment 3 days out, the groomers decided to put our dog in a cage for an hour and a half to accommodate an express wash walk in?!?! What's the purpose of an appointment? I asked to see the manager and after I made him aware of the situation he couldn't give a shit and didn't even apologize or offer anything to rectify the situation! My family will NEVER set foot in any PETSMART ever again!!! I hope that the express wash was worth the loss considering we spend well over a hundred dollars a month in there between grooming, pet food and supplies. read more

I brought my Airedale Terrier in for a grooming in the Flemington, NJ location and WOW what a bad cut, I could've shaved him better myself, as a matter of fact, I did have to trim him in spots. The groomer said that he was matted, he was not matted because I had just bathed and brushed him 2 weeks earlier, I truly believe it was out of laziness. All I heard from the moment I walked in was how he "can't" be groomed like an Airedale, instead of how he "can" be groomed like I asked, she just wanted to shave him bald, literally, and she did. I expressly voiced my concern over bad haircuts in the past and this one takes the cake at $107 after teeth and nail grinding and oh yeah, special handling because he moved his head to much when it was being groomed. Hello, its a dog!!! I will never bring him there for services again. I do have to say, I have had him groomed at the Manahawkin, NJ PetSmart and he had a great cut, so I tried another location, big mistake. Oh well, at least he will be cool for the summer, stupid looking, but cool. read more

Warning, do not buy fish from here. Bought a couple fish that appeared healthy under their tank lights but in my tank it was easy to tell they had a fungal infection. After each died and also contaminated my tank, they tried to sell me a fungal guard for something the caused. Some of the staff are pleasant, but not everyone. read more

For a big chain store, the Flemington PetSmart is a really friendly store with lots of good sales and supplies. I often stop in looking for new dog toys for my dog, and come home with a package of treats and toys that he goes nuts over. My cat is less easy to buy for but we get her high quality food there. I recently decided to adopt some small animals, and the staff there was very helpful, as well as patient with my time consuming selection of just the right animal. They have most of the food and equipment was available there as well. Really glad we have a local PetSmart. The hours and seven day a week availability are helpful too. They also host St. Hubert's cat adoption, which is a really good cause, and a great place to give a deserving feline a new lease on life. Check them out! read more

We took our dog here for grooming after having a horrible grooming experience at Furrylicious in Whitehouse Station, NJ. I have to say we were VERY happy with the grooming and service could not be any better. Our dog was worked on by Kathy (the groomer) and she was friendly and courteous. She took good care of our dog (who usually has anxiety going in for a bath and a haircut). She even said he gave her kisses which was a first while getting groomed. I only go to PetSmart to purchase fish products so I can't speak of their other products. Their fish products are marked up. You can find any of them for a lot less on another pet website or even Amazon. Also their Topfin brand is absolute garbage with false advertising and inferior products. The customer service at this particular store is not great either. The person working in the fish department rarely knows anything about fish and the labels and prices on the shelves don't match the products. I had an issue regarding this twice when I got to the register. I will not be returning. The pet store Fish and Pets Plus behind Shoprite is far superior. They know about fish and don't try to rip you off with crappy products and mismarked labels. read more

not a bad store. the selection isnt bad but the prices are not very good. the have basically the same stuff as the rest of the pet stores in the area and at the same price. you should expect a store that buys huge pallets of pet supplies to charge you a little less than the mom and pop stores in the area. they have a lot of cheap crappy dog food at poor prices. i would only recommend the grooming service here. for aquatic supplies you should go to fish and pets plus, and for good holistic dog food you should go to barkleys. read more
