Of all the pet stores I've been to in Elk Grove since adopting my puppy in October, this is by far the best. Their customer service is amazing. I can always count on the employees to always check up on me while I'm browsing the store with my dog to make sure I'm finding everything ok and to help me locate things that I'm looking for if I can't find it. The grooming section is great at making sure they take the time to make sure everything is done despite the fact my baby has had a lot happen to him in his short life before he was rescued. And I couldn't be happier with Ashley and the training that she's been doing the last four weeks. read more

I've had my pomeranian pup groomed here twice, the vet said they did a great job. (I'm new to poms- I took their word for it) He comes home smelling like a clean dog, and pretty darn cute. Their training is great, Angela is a wonderful trainer. I got recomendations of her from a number of friends. We love Petsmart! read more

Great customer service with the grooming dept.! They had my previous type of cut already noted and all I had to do is drop off my dogs. Employees are very friendly. It took a little longer than the expected 3-4 hour mark. I didn't have any time constraints today but I am sure they would accommodate if you did have any time constraints. read more

I called the '800' number early Saturday morning 2/10/18 to make an appointment at 11am for my Mini Australian Shepherd to get a bath. When I walked in, there were two very unkempt male employees in the back of the salon who did not acknowledge me. When one of them finally came up and asked what I needed, I told them I had made an appointment over the phone for my dog to get a bath. "Jacob" arrived at the register but he could not find any previous records (despite being at a different Pet Smart in December, 2017). I have never encountered a less personal PetSmart employee. Jacob was severely lacking in people skills and did not even make much eye contact. In fact, most of the people working in the salon seemed stoned! I asked how long it would take, and he said "a couple of hours." I then said, "so if I'm back by 1:00pm, he'll be ready?" And he answered affirmatively by uttering, "yeah." It was important that my dog be done by 1pm since I had an appointment in Penryn at 2pm. Well, 1:00 came, 1:15, 1:30, 1:45pm, and my dog STILL wasn't done! For godsakes, it was only a bath -- not like a full grooming. When I walked in to retrieve my dog at 1:50pm, the waiting area was full of other customers -- some with dogs to drop off, some to pick up, so I needed to wait my turn. Then, when I saw the receipt, it stated that my dog was an "American Eskimo" and that the duration of my service was ONE hour. When I inquired about both, a female employee said, "Oh yeah. We don't have any Mini Australian Shepherds in our system, so since he's about the same size, we used that breed." When I asked about the service being almost 3 hours instead of 2, same answer. "That's just what it shows automatically in our system." It was by far the worst bathing job I have ever seen on my dog. His ears were still dirty and his fur was all frizzy -- not the smooth coat I usually get when he comes back from the groomer. Two of his paws' fur was trimmed and two were not. In all honestly, I really wouldn't give them even '1' star, but there is no option for 'no' stars! Heed my advice here, folks: Do NOT take your pets to the Laguna PetSmart for grooming. GROOMING DEPARTMENT C/S NEEDS A CLASS in CUSTOMER SERVICE Seriously - today has been hectic and PetSmart lack of C/S was the straw that broke the camels back. Today - I don't know who was working or what was going on but it amazed me how this department has a complete lack of accountability and communication pertaining to records they insist they have prior to providing a service. We have (3) dogs who usually get groomed together - and vaccinated at same time. I brought all my records to this store back in March. Their last appointment for cut/bath was in July. Today - there were records for (2) of my dogs - but MIA on the other. (sorry...last vaccinations we have on file are December) - It is ironic that this happened when my mom brought in her dog too - today. (yes...we see he has been coming every 30-45 days ...but his vaccinations are missing today). Instead of providing a positive customer experience and saying "Yes - I can see that they were here and that is odd. Let me call your vet and just verify." - we got "we can not call the vet -- they won't give us the information - you will need to fax it to us." Asked for a manager - got the same response - and attitude....and needless to say my attitude took a negative-sarcastic turn - which I admit probably did not help. Funny - cld Hatton Vet Clinic and they were like "we do that all the time for Petco and PetSmart" - Let me call and take care of that for you. THANK YOU - that is customer service! In the course of scheduling the appointment - I asked that they do a reverse cut to help with shedding. They said -" we don't know what you are talking about - that wont help shedding - only the furberr?? what?? will help with shedding." Well, I live with these dogs and I can tell you that when I get them cut - it substantially cuts down on shedding and we don't do the "whatever process they wanted me to purchase". Cut works great - so can you see what we did in July and do the same? and stop trying to sell me something that I don't want - or tell me that cutting won't help shedding...because my black clothes say otherwise. read more

Been here a few times. The store was pretty nicely clean and everything is well organized so its pretty easy to find what you need. The staff is friendly from what I can tell. My reasoning for going here was for buying some eco-earth substrate for my hermit crabs and a moon light. I browsed over to look at the hermit crabs there and they were in pretty poor condition. They look very weak and ill do to the fact the hygrometer was reading 10% humidity levels which is way beyond the danger zone. I am glad they are not selling hermit crabs in painted shells at-least. The tank it self is alright. Plenty of space and hiding spots. Hopefully there giving them fresh and salt water. I would go here again for decorations n such for my tank. Hopefully next time I visit there tank for there crabs are in better condition. read more

Super helpful staff. I called to see if they had an item in store, and they did. So I drove down there and found out that they had held the item for me without me even asking since it was the last one they had and didn't want me to get there and have it be gone. They are super gracious when you bring your dog in the store too. My little booger was sniffing everyone that walked by and the staff just loved on him. read more

I brought my dog to the groomers to be bathed by Milton Was told they were running behind and three hours later I still hadn't received a phone call. My husband went there to pick up our dog before the store closed. When he got home , our dog still smelled. I'm pretty sure they did not bathe my dog but still charged me for it. I'm not even going to rate this place! This morning I had the most disturbing experience EVER with the grooming salon. I took my dog to his scheduled appointment for a wash, cut and nails. While I was there I decided to pick up a few things. My daughter noticed that my dog was out getting his haircut and also noticed that the groomer had yanked at him aggressively. She didn't know why, but told me he was out getting his haircut so I then went close by to see him and within seconds of watching, I also see Valerie (groomer) yanking him on the table leash and talking to him in his face. I was shocked and was not sure what that was all about, since I didn't see any reason for her to do that to him and I didn't know my daughter seen this second earlier too. I continued watching Valerie groom him and then the manager walked in the salon and within seconds she was yanking him AGAIN and that's when I stormed into the salon and asked her for the reason she was yanking my dog around? She said he tried to bite her. I was watching the entire time and not once did my dog try to bite her. My dog is a very sweet, terrier mix. He has NEVER bitten anyone and always gets a great report card when I pick him up from there or anywhere I take him. I told her that I wanted someone else to groom him and she insisted that I take him. I told her that I wanted someone else other than her and she asked one of her co-workers standing there "do you want to groom him, he bites?" Of course the girl said " I don't want to take that chance if he bites." I told her he doesn't bite! I then took my dog back and told them I wasn't going to pay for them to mistreat my dog. Also, little did I know that the manager was standing right there and did absolutely nothing but let his employee argue with me and mistreat my dog. I put all my stuff back that I was about to purchase and asked to speak with a manager and it turned out it was this same guy who did nothing. He took me way to the corner of the store, away so other customers wouldn't hear I suppose, and raved how long this Valerie person has been there and how she's the best groomer there! OBVIOUSLY NOT, she's aggressive with animals, not patient, and very unprofessional. For being there 12 years, she couldn't handle my dog properly or customers that complain about her aggression with animals! Watch your pets if you decide to take the chance to go get them groomed there! Especially with Valerie! read more

I recently took my 2 dogs to this place for a bath and grooming. After going to these groomers at least 2-3 times before, I was looking forward to another wonderful experience. Boy was I wrong, what I got was 5-6 groomers I had never seen, all explaining to me how they did not have time to do an "express" appointment on my small dog (even though when I called an made the appointment, I specifically said I wanted the exact service I got the time before). Moreover, several of the groomers were talking about other clients and their dogs and the problems they were and how they refused to work on them. NICE! Additionally, they all agreed that it was perfectly acceptable and not a problem that my dog leave his grooming appointment with knots behind his ears because"you can't get to the knots using an e-collar". So I asked if that sounded reasonable - that I pay for a grooming and leave with a dog that had knots in his fur, to which they replied, "Well, sorry about that, there's nothing we can do. If you hold a muzzle on his nose, while we clipper cut the knots, that might kill him". Are you kidding me? Our vet muzzles our little guy to cut his nails, their own organization worked with me several times before to cut out his knots, but they refused to help. It was clear to me that no one in that grooming area cared about the customer experience. They could care less if I stayed or left. Maybe that's the confidence you gain when you get so big, you get to ignore the impact you left on the customer because there will be others, well I am happy to say it won't me. Don't let it be you either. There are plenty of other independent groomers that care and take the time with your pets and their prices are just as competitive if not better, here are two: The Corner Pet Store on the corner of Elk Grove and Waterman and Canine Clippers in the same location as Franklin Ranch Pet Hospital in Elk Grove. Don't waste your time or risk an unpleasant experience at this place, do it for your pet! read more

I have used their grooming dept. for years but 2 recent incidents will keep me from ever putting my yorkie in danger again. My oldest yorkie Lucy recently had her tit shaved off during grooming. They told me when I got there. They said they had stopped the bleeding and they were very sorry. I should have never gone back. 2 weeks ago the youngest Luna was injured during bathing. They said she yelped then started limping. I called to complain to Sid the manager who told me he had just fired a groomer for being too rough and that he had watched a cat die in there. I feel so bad I subjected my poor animals to this place. I ended up taking my animals to the vet so it was a very expensive grooming when you added on the Vet. read more

I have taken my dauschaund mix here three times for grooming....first two times they were great and did an excellent job. This last time, When I picked up my dog, her cut was terrible, didn't trim her tail or under her belly at all. her ears were trimmed exactly how I said I didn't want them and her front legs were trimmed much shorter than the back.... As I was checking out her cut, my poor pup kept trying to bury herself inside my jacket and was really acting strange, so instead of complaining about the cut, I took her out of there. Once we got home, my sweet playful dog ran and hid under the bed. No amount of coaxing or treats would bring her out...finally after several hours I had to physically drag her out so she could go outside before going to bed. The next day was no better, she stayed the whole day under the bed and would only come put when I physically pulled her out. Now three days later she is finally back to her playful loving self. I don't know what they did to her to make her act this way, but I will NEVER take her here again. When I called to talk to the Manager, I was told all their groomers treat the dogs as their own and no problem dogs were reported. They did offer to fix the bad haircut for free however. Um no thanks, my poor dog is traumatized enough, I will NEVER step foot in this store again. read more

Went in today for a return. I had the receipt. I could only get store credit because I did not have the original debit card that I used. I was given store credit. The back of the receipt that states the return policy says nothing about having to have the original debit card. Anyway the cashier, Solandra was rude and yelling at me! I only wanted an exchange anyway. Petsmart need to be more clear about their return policy on the back of their receipt and teach their associates how to talk to their customers. read more

I am a frequent shopper at this location of Petsmart buying anything from Blue Buffalo dog food all the way to spending thousands on medical visits for my last dog at their Banfield pet hospital. However, this last time I went in there with my dog, the manager seemed to be following me around the entire time I was there which was approximately 25 min. I knew he was manager because on the overhead speaker they kept calling him up to the register. I had come in to buy some canned food for my dog but was noticing him eyeing me down the entire time I was trying to purchase some dog food. I looked around at everything dog related besides the food and no matter where I went he was there stalking me. I had passed by multiple staff too and nobody wanted to talk to me or said anything they just all stared at me like I was doing something wrong. I even saw him point me out to another girl co worker while I was trying to leave. He didn't take his creepy eyes off me the entire time. It was a horribly bizarre experience, I am not coming back. If I can't buy dog food at a place that I have been on numerous occasions without being stared at for walking around then I rather go online to a much cheaper place. read more

I want to say first The one star is only for this experience, overall PetSmart is still a good place to shop for pets. However, I've been taking my dog to their groomers for awhile and every time has been great if not amazing, but for this time it was absolutely unprofessional! Usually they take roughly 3-4 hours maybe longer which is completely okay but they call or text you when their done (they've called me every time). I did not receive any calls or texts about anything to picking up my dog. Well for it being almost 5:00 pm when I noticed they never called and I dropped off my dog at 10:00 am. I drive down to the store picked up my dog noticed that the billing paper shows a little less of a payment then what I always pay for($60) funny because I remember telling them to do the package that is $60 well the lady looks at the paper and just told me that whatever was on the paper was what they did. The lady looks back at a lady behind her and asks if she did everything that was on the paper. Well she forgot to trim the nails which they did on the spot. But if I didn't say anything and just left I would of payed for a service that didn't even happen. So while she trimmed his nails she had the dam audacity to tell me that "for the future we can only keep them for 4 hours after they are groomed" are you god dam kidding me. I continue to say that I never got a call or text and they just stand there completely ignoring me doesn't apologize at all! I work in customer service and at least I know to apologize especially if the customer is pissed. So no tip. read more

After taking my yorkie to the grooming salon twice, I'm never coming back here. The first time they groomed her, it was very choppy and too short than what I had asked for. I decided to give them another try but with a different person, Kristen. When I was picking up my dog, I noticed the employee who had groomed her last time. He was combing out a poodle and being so rough with him. The poor poodle was whimpering! And now I wonder if that's how he was being with my dog when I first brought her in. So then they bring my dog out and the hair on her legs are very uneven and her face is super choppy. Being the nice person that I am, I didn't complain at all. Before I leave the salon, Kristen tells me, "By the way, your dog was very fidgety when it came to me touching her paws and cutting her nails. I did have to have some of our employees hold her down but next time you come in, it will be a $7 extra charge because she moves a lot." You're kidding me right? As if you're services aren't already overpriced... Anyone know of any grooming salons in Elk Grove with lower prices and great customer service? Let me know! read more

The five stars are all for the groomer we use here! After moving to the area several years ago, we tried 4 or 5 other groomers at various places (including this location) with less than favorable results. One day our dogs got into a bunch of stickers and thorns-they were a mess! I called around and this place could get us right in with a groomer named Allysa. She was so patient with the dogs (she couldn't see me, but I watched through the window for quite awhile) even though they were a mess and squirming all over. If I could minus a star I would. I brought my Bijon here thinking that they really would be a great place to go. So clean, specializing in pets, etc. Looks are deceiving. My beautiful Bijon looks like a drowned rat now. No sign of her being a Bijon. I asked for a summer cut and they showed me swatches of carpet or something that represented how short I would want her coat. I picked the 2nd from the shortest. They did the very shortest and then some, leaving her tender pink skin exposed, I mean shaved bare. Her little legs had nothing left on them and her beautiful Bijon face is no more. The girl that cut her didn't know a Bijon from a Chihuahua. My daughter picked her up for me being as I was out of town when she was ready. So the next day my husband and I brought her back in to show them and ask for a guaranteed refund if you aren't happy and the clerk had nothing but arguments for everything we mentioned. No apology, no concern, no responsibility. Last time I will ever go there for dog food or grooming. Very disappointed. read more

Never ever taking my dog there again. For the second time in the past few months, I left very disappointed in their grooming of my pug. Not only did we have to specify to them to be sure to cut/grind his nails (Last time they either missed them, or did a very poor job even though we paid extra for this service) I checked his nails before taking him home and it looked like they did when I brought him in. When I asked why they were still so long I was told that they did grind them, but if any shorter it would hurt him. Never had this problem before...here or anywhere else. Also, since he's a pug, he has lots of folds on his face. Just now noticed that his face wasn't washed during his bath either. So not worth the $57 we paid for pretty much just a shave. ( I don't know, but I would bet they didn't bathe him (oatmeal bath extra charge too), but I will give them the benefit of the doubt. Going to look for another groomer, bet they will do a thorough job and for less $$ One more thing, my poor pooch still has his usually curly tail tucked between his legs. Unsatisfactory service. Let me start with a disclaimer that it is July third and with the fourth falling on a Saturday a great deal of people have this day off. I called the store about twenty minutes before I arrived to confirm that I didn't need an appointment for a nail trim and an anal gland expression. The gentleman I spoke with confirmed that no appointment was required. When I arrived in the store a lady informed me that it would be over an hour wait. Now, I understand that it's a holiday weekend and they are busy. The wait is not their fault so I'm not upset about that. What I don't understand, however, is why the man I spoke with in the phone didn't give me a heads up that it would be over an hour wait. Granted, I didn't specifically ask, but when I thanked him for the info concerning needing an appointment or not and said I'll be down shortly it seems to me a reasonable follow up comment might have been, oh hey by the way it's a holiday weekend and the wait is an hour ( or whatever it had been twenty minutes prior when I called). That simple common sense comment would have saved all parties involved the time and trouble. Also the lady that informed me of the wait when I arrived at the grooming salon was not exactly pleasant. read more

On August 18th i took my two 9yrs old yorkies for a bath and a tight cut groom.All gone well before but this time it all look good when i received them,they look good but an hour i got home i notice my male yorkie was cut under his front leg and bleeding,and scratch marks by the shaver. I was never told of it or my dog wasnt even treated by the vet next door,. understandably i was upset n i demanded some treatment for the cut which was still bleeding.End result i was reported to the Elk Grove police dept n order never to return . This is for the grooming saloon. I took my dog to this location for 8 years. Once before he was groomed by VALERIE. She charged me extra because my dog was "difficult". Since then, I watched her yanking and being rough on other dogs every time I went there. Today, I went in for a grooming, and went in 15 minutes early. My groomer whom I trust was not there, but she was. After all the paperwork was done, she came from behind the counter, immediately put one of their leashes around his neck, although my dog already had a harness and a leash, and pursued to yank him across the floor. I stopped her, and cancel the appointment, and told her why. She YELLED at me "how else would you want me to get him?" I started telling her "pick him up" and while I was talking she turned around leaving me talking. This person should not work there. She is incompetent and rude. I will pursue this further, already called corporate, but everyone.. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. read more
