I had ny English setter Elvis there today as a walk in sanitary cut with Mae who had been great with my 2 setters for nail trim and sanitary cut. But she was unable to do it because his skirt area had gotten matted and unfortunately it was more of a grooming appointment. Alex C took a look at Elvis and despite being swamped, she offered to shave only the necessary area and do her best. She did a great job! She saved most of his skirt and trimmed up his paws so he looks adorable. Thank you Alex C I will book my grooming with you in the future. read more

First I will say I had 1:30 pm grooming appointment, but realized I need to chk to see if anyone canceled the day of , due to a conflict in timing, so I called that morning early, I got a call back stating they could move Salvatore apt up to 11:30am remind you it's 11am when the call came thru, I stated Sure I can but it's gonna take me at least 30 mins to arrive, I told her I could leave in about 10 min, ,I also said if I'm a few mins behinds schedule will it be ok, remind you they done this to me once before an I had to restructure my already set plans because I now have to take Salvatore back home, she replied get here as soon as you can , I replied ok leaving in a few mins, as I get near the store I see I'm already 6 min past 11:30am so I call , I said mam I just at the light by the lowes home imp store, I said I'm just let I g you know that I be there in a 2/3mim soon as this light change, she tell me I'm sorry we're not goin to be able to take him now , I gave you 30 min , I said mam, I told it i live 25mins away frm ur location, I explained that to you when you called me, she said sir I'm sorry your to late, so I go any way since I'm now in the parking lot, I go in she tells me the same thing again , I got very pissed off because no , they have given his 1:30 original apt away, so not only do I have to reschedule ,I know have to drive 30 min back to my house be cause my dog can't go to my dentist apt with me, so things got a lil out of hand when I spoke my mind, that was very wrong on their part , an they thinking I'm over reacting, I let it slide the first time 3 mo later same thing this time I spoke up and my dog Salvatore and I got bared frm that location, and as you see I shop there a lot all it's clothing food grooming was all at that store location ,sad been a loyal customer at that location since picked him up at 2 mo old I will say this , I can't speak for all pet smart location, but the Athens Oconee connector Athens store , the mgr an grooming mgr are racist an very rude to other nationality especially blacks an the minute you stand your ground ,you and your pet are instantly bared frm the location for life, I still use per smart but instead of driving 25 min to the Athens location I now have to drive frm Colbert ga, , even if the issue is on they're end, they will make it be your own credit that got you bared when all along it's them creating issues, sad an unfairIm not out to ruin anyone day I'm sure there are many others that have been wrongly treated by those two mgr, they both need to be fired, my drive changed frm 23 min to the Athens oconee location to 46 mins to the Bethlehem location, jus so my Salvatore can get a descent cut,,#FIRE/THEM/TWO/MGRS we need race /less mgrs when dealing with people other than they're own read more

This is the best PetSmart I've come across. It's clean and organized with extra friendly staff. I enjoyed that one of their staff members was sitting on the floor with me while we were trying on different life jackets on my fur baby. Another staff member offered my dog pieces of dried 100% beef liver during check out (which my choosy little guy loved), and she gave me a handful to take home, too. I was already displeased with the service today because they had him for three hours but didn't trim his nails, do his pad shaving, or sanitary trim. How can you ignore some of the most necessary parts of the Bath & Brush service? They took him back to finish after I pointed it out, and I can only assume that's when he was cut during the sanitary trim. This store's grooming station was one of the worst experiences we've had and mind you we gave these people our business with two of our puppies. We called them to see if we can get an appointment for the next day and they claimed to not have anything available but when I checked online they had 4 slots available! Once I booked, the front desk groomer (name was Reagan) was pretty rough with my male golden doodle, pretty much yanking his collar while trimming his beard (he's a puppy so I understand he can be noisy and fidgety) but that doesn't mean you handle my dog like a rag doll! Then our second dog was brought in at 2pm and storms groomer (name was cadence) decided to call us 20 mins before closing to ask if we were coming to get our girl dog- storm, mind you ! No one called me to let me know she was ready so super miscommunication all around. We show up to pick her up and they all left the grooming station and had my dog in a kennel by herself in the back like what is really going on here! Needless to say we will not be returning. I'm taking my dogs to a groomer who actually gives a damn about the dogs they service! Plus the pricing isn't cheap for this behavior. Management at this place should really be stepping in and weeding out the people who shouldn't be working with animals. read more

If you have a double-coated breed, ask for Ashley. I got my male Akita groomed at Petsmart's grooming salon today. I am SO lucky to have found Ashley as a groomer. My dog's breed is often judged for being stubborn and sometimes aggressive with strangers, even though my own dog is friendly with humans (albeit a little weary of strangers). Ashley was calm, and knew the particularities of a double-coat. She was able to teach me a few things about caring for his coat, and I hope it will help prevent my dog's skin issues (he's prone to hot spots in the summer months). Usually I expect some post-groom shedding, and I'm sure it will come eventually, but Ashley was SO thorough to get as much of his loose hair out of his coat as possible when we left the salon and I haven't seen any stray hairs yet. My dog is happy, relaxed, and feels great thanks to her. I will 100% be back for Ashley. Thank YOU. read more

I fell in love with these two little golden algae eater fish. I came back a different day to get them, and saw that the tank had a new dead angel fish inside and the other fish were eating it. I was grossed out but still wanted to get the two fish out of the store and into my home tank. I asked an employee to get the fish and he was careless. Literally threw the plastic rock house in the tank multiple times having it land on other fish, grabbing the fish with rocks in the net, and the whole thing just looked horrifying. But I bit my tongue and went to check out (side note, the lady at check out was very nice). I made it home, let the water temperature even out to the tank temperature, and put them in my tank (that already has 3 other living fish). Within 3 hours they were dead. I'm crushed, I wasted money, and now I'm scared I gave something to my other fish. I don't know if they were diseased from eating the dead one, got too stressed from being hit with the rock house at the store, or what but I am NEVER buying fish from this store again. Please clean y'alls tanks, handle the fish properly, and get the dead fish out it's nasty and sad. read more

I took my dog in today for a bath and simple clip. I am usually very satisfied but they didn't clip her sanitary area very well or clip under her arm, which was a problem area, very well either. I expected her to be groomed as stated. There was still a lot of hair left, and I'll have to get her back much sooner, than I should. Just wanted to ask that you clip her, as stated. This is a good place and I am just making a suggestion, as it was only this one time, that I was disappointed. read more

Our dog went for a bath to PetSmart yesterday at 5:00 pm. We specifically asked for a gentle, sensitive skin shampoo as he itches with strong shampoos. He came back smelling strongly of products. A few hours later he woke us up - he was very agitated, kept scratching his eyes which were swollen and I felt hives on his skin. We rushed him to the ER and he was diagnosed with a massive allergic reaction. The vet thought that he had not been properly rinsed off and was reacting to the products. He had to have a Benadryl shot and IV steroids. No telling what the bill will be. Now we have to rinse him off today and continue Benadryl for 3 days. A heavy price to pay for a bath that was obviously done hurriedly and incompetently. I will never set foot in PetSmart again. read more

Not the best service. We live almost an hour away, and I called over and over to make sure I didn't need anything but my dog to get his nails trimmed. When we got there, there was no sign anywhere that said where the salon was, there was hair on floor from previous dogs, She almost completely put my dog in computer before tellin me without even asking if I had it, that she couldn't do anything because I didn't bring rabies records, we called back later to have him taken out of system and they called us back after that confrontation. read more

This rating is specified for the grooming salon. I made an appointment for my miniature poodle, which our groomer was Jennifer D. My first impression of her was very unpleasant, given that she did not greet me nor my pet. She proceeded to feel her hair and texture and suggested we shave her due to the matting. From experience, I knew for a fact that her matting was not so severe that she needed to be shaved. After discussing and explaining to her what my poodle needed, she didn't not listen and proceeded to do what she wanted. When I picked her up, her hair was uneven and my baby was traumatized; I then realized that she had cut her under her ear and attempted to hide it. When I asked about her grooming, Jennifer had left the salon, and the other groomers told me that she needed to shave her because she had made a mistake on her hair and was trying to fix it. The upside about this incident is that I had talked with a corporate representative and the store manger, which they both were polite and apologetic about this matter, and refunded me for the appointment and offered to pay for the vet bill. I have used the groomers here at PetSmart for quite some time now. I have always been very happy with their grooming services. My favorite groomer Anna has moved to a private vet but she was the best! I will say the PetSmart grooming salon checkout and check in process needs serious improvement! I just waited outside the grooming salon door for almost 20 mins while my dog, who is already very anxious, continued to get more anxiety ridden and difficult to handle with all the activity going around in the store. This is a problem with dropping off and checking in and a recurring issue. I am about ready to move my pups to another grooming service. There has to be a better way! read more

This is the worst pet store I ever went to the staff is horrible and they just do not care

I tried twice. The first time was ok. The second time just yesterday. The check in girl was a little attitude. When I picked my dog up I could here her barking in the back and when I got her in the car I couldn't believe how thirsty she was. And panting heavily. Today I realized they did not bath her underneath in her belly area. Also on the ride home my daughter was sitting with her and Said her butt is soaked. My dog looked angry at me for hours. Also when I picked her up the girl just handed her to me and didn't say one word. They also do not take notes of any kind. I said I wanted the same thing done as last time. And she said well I don't know what they did the last time. Also my dog freaks when they put her under the dryers and they had no idea the second time and did it again. Never again. I really think it depends who is working that day. I think the dryers is what can kill dogs and they obviously don't give them water after being there for 3 hours. I do not recommend Petsmart grooming! I took my puppy there and they were unable to cut her hair because she was "too active." I won't ever use them again. Some of the groomers there are young and inexperienced. I found I was much better off taking my dog to a professional grooming service. Very disappointed with this place. read more

I stopped in with my German Shepherd mix on a Sunday to get her coat shaved down for medical reason due to a skin allergy. Upon entering the salon, I knew they were busy and I'd need to schedule the appointment for another day... The sales associate was informative and scheduled me for a Tuesday night. When Tuesday rolled around, I received several calls from the grooming salon and I guess there was a weight restriction on the groomer I was scheduled with. Due to the restriction, my dog couldn't be groomed that night which, at first, I was very heated about. When I called back upset, I was immediately apologized to and given a free wash, deep condition and cut. I dropped my dog off a couple days later and the groomer, Kristina, was awesome. My dog was beautiful groomed and it was done in half the time I expected. I will definitely take my sweet girl back to see Kristina! read more

Very disappointed with the attitudes of some of the groomers. It was very busy and a groomer ask another to help her and the groomer said no. When you have a line of people and long wait times,everybody needs to cooperate and be on the same page. The Training Staff at this Petsmart is amazing. Linda Crouchman is very knowledgeable and helpful with any problem that we came up with. I started taking my dog Zazz there shortly after I got him from the local rescue and he has been through Puppy Training, Beginner Training, Intermediate Training and Advanced Training. We had also done the Trick Training and some Private Training. Right now we are working towards our Canine Good Citizen Certificate and Linda has been so very helpful. My dog enjoys it, he gets so excited when he sees we are at Petsmart. He has turned into a wonderful bestfriend and I think it is due in part because of the good advice and help from Linda and her staff. read more
