Disastrous delivery
Terri N.

Beware of ordering your pet food from this store. If you have it shipped or delivered, they have no concern whatsoever what condition it arrives in. We've often had dented cans and missing labels with canned food having no padding at all. Today was worst of all. We pay hard earned money for pet food. THIS IS HOW IT WAS DELIVERED! Now I have to carefully organize, inventory and inspect for dents and damage. NO EXCUSE for this mess.

I love this store very much because there are so many cute cats. Also, the people here are super friendly and helpful.

As you are aware Petco has slightly lower prices on name-brand pet food compared to PetSmart, and the savings add up even more with their repeat delivery option, something PetSmart doesn't offer. But when it comes to pet accessories and bigger items, PetSmart seems to have the better deals. PetSmart has everything, pet food, supplies, accessories, and even small pets. They also offer grooming, dog daycare, boarding for dogs and cats, vet services through in-store clinics, and dog training. Plus, they have adoption centers run by PetSmart Charities, which is a nice touch. This store itself is clean and well-organized. My favorite parts? The pet hotel and daycare, they're awesome. Some of the fish tanks were empty, but the ones that weren't had a beautiful selection of fish.

Thanks for the great nail trim!

Our five year old beagle-mix needed a nail trim. For the last several years we went to our vet. The job was done behind close doors (okay with us as we trusted them) and was done quickly. However, They would barely trim the nails and the end of the nails were alwasy rough... and it was expensive. Then we decided to try Petsmart in Aliso Viejo. The people in the Petsmart grooming department were great. Very caring and gentle with our dog. It's not like our dog to tolerate anyone holding her and trying to trim her nails. Two attendants (Matt? & Kenzie) were very loving to our dog and the nails were trimmed and grinded to just short enough with smooth ends. We couldn't be happier. And the price was very reasonable. We'll be back next month!

Gash

I took my dog to be groomed at the Aliso Viejo, California PetSmart. I received a call that there was an accident and my dog got a small nic and they transferred him to the Banfield hospital at that location. When I went to see him, there was a huge open gash on his leg and they had to glue it together to close up the gash. My dog was traumatised, shaking, wouldn't eat, started getting an infection in one of his eyes and in tremendous pain. They took no accountability, refused to fire the Groomer and did nothing to rectify the issue. Horrible groomers, please do not take your animal there.

Really offended as someone who is in the pet industry and who has often advocated for petsmart as a business. I have been professionally training dogs for 15 years and loved this store as part of my own personal training process until today. Let me start by saying I am a former petsmart trainer. I worked for the company at the leading training store in California for years along side the area trainer who wrote the program curriculum and mentored many petsmart trainers along side her. I left the company as I had aspirations to train with methods I find more advanced than what petsmart would allow but I always felt and let others know that petsmart, has a great foundational training program and with the right trainer in store you can get a lot out of it. I had gone into petsmart after work to get more dog food and work with my personal dog who at the time of rescuing needed severe confidence building in environments with other dogs. Upon entering we were greeted and I went to the isle to check if the price of food was on sale for a treats member price. I stopped to do some drills to recenter my dog who had become a little nervous. I was promptly approached by a woman who told me I needed to "change my shirt" or cover up. I had just gotten off work for the training company I am currently employed by (which is located in Oceanside, no where near Aliso viejo) She gave me the reason that it was advertising a competitor. The emblem on my lapel with the company logo was no bigger than a coaster you'd use at Webb's. She took it upon herself to escort me out as I worked me and my dogs way towards the door. I felt totally violated. I was polite and went and put a jacket over so I could continue to help my dog but I felt completely unwelcome after that as a costumer. I am in store at least once a week to get the refrigerated fresh pet dog food, help my dog over come her confidence issues and let her pick out a toy. People do see me train my dog and ask about training. And I do let them know to check in with Dillion, the trainer who is sweet, always greets and always fun to talk about behavior and breeds with. However as being part of the pet industry, I would hope that petsmart leadership would encourage and represent the inclusion and importance of relationships among others in the industry. Ultimately this mindset that you don't allow someone to buy something after they got off work just because they are ALSO in the pet care industry, after a very long day is a huge disappointment. I ended up working my dog helping her Cuse that's who I was truly there for, and went to petco for her food. Who mind you, didn't feel the need to point out the tiny words on my lapel and welcomed me with open arms. Please from one pet care worker to another, do better.

At the end of the day our pets won't be caring about how the place looks like as long as they are well taken care of. I wanted to come on here and give my honest opinion since I was looking at their reviews and saw the most recent one and I must say that person flat out lied. I talk to the lady that works there and they only offer morning tours due to their intense cleaning procedures that take place in the afternoon!Unfortunately some people don't respect their rules and just walk in whenever and demand a tour and when they are told no or that it will be short then they get mad and make false accusations! I was checking the place out and it makes sense to ask to see the place in the morning since the dogs are more clam and the employees have more time. The "hole" was actually their drain system that gets opened up for cleaning time after all the dogs go into their rooms. And I myself witnessed the big dogs enjoy playing rough with the kids play slide that they have in their daycare so obviously it will be torn off a bit. But there was not plastic pieces laying around so it safe to say that the toy is strong enough for the dogs. The smell was honestly not that bad. I mean they take care of all animals , so a little common sense would tell you that it will smell like animals. And I can re assure that all the occupied rooms had bedding and water. The lady answer all my questions and made me feel comfortable with leaving my dogs. The place is small and there isn't much to it but it feels homie. They send pictures every day. Also the owner and staff reply really fast and there's good communication. For pet owners that just need simple and chill care this place is for them. Also loved how straight forward and chill the workers are.

f I've been coming to Alicia Pet Care Center for many years,…read morespecifically working with Dr. Matthew Wheaton. I was originally introduced to this veterinary hospital by my dog trainer, Vladae from SoCal Dog Training and I'm very glad I followed that recommendation. Over the years, Dr. Wheaton and his team have taken excellent care of my chocolate Labrador, Bruno. Now with my new puppy, Nico, also a chocolate Lab, choosing Alicia Pet Care Center again was an easy decision. Dr. Matthew is extremely knowledgeable, but more importantly, he is straightforward and trustworthy which is rare and very valuable. Their extended hours, including full-day Saturdays, make scheduling very convenient. They also offer a drop-off service, which is incredibly helpful when things get busy. Overall, a reliable, a bit pricey, but professional, and honest veterinary clinic. Thank you, Dr. Matthew and team.

She recommends unnecessary procedures while using fear tactics, which is a shame. The backup vet was very incompetent. She recommended the wrong solutions and suggested imaging that cannot detect soft tissue issues. She never asked any history questions, examined the wrong area entirely, and jumped straight to worst case scenarios without justification. She spent only 5 minutes on the consultation and pushed for X-rays when in my dog's case, those weren't even necessary. X-rays are not the right protocol for soft tissue issues. I didn't have a choice as they were the only place open that day. A few days later my dog is completely fine because it wasn't actually that hard to fix. He had full anal glands that just needed to be emptied ... and this vet was pushing for X-rays and bloodwork instead One thing worth mentioning, she was very quick to suggest cancer or tumors without proper justification. What she may not know is that intact male dogs actually have hormonal protection that significantly reduces the risk of certain cancers in that area. A more knowledgeable vet would have considered this before jumping to worst case scenarios. This is basic intact male biology that should be understood before making such alarming suggestions to worried pet owners. That's why I usually just bring my dogs to my regular holistic vets in Irvine and Laguna Beach. To be fair, the regular staff are lovely. The vet tech was excellent, agreed with my decisions, and actually helped. So I do believe their regular vets and staff are much better. This one star is specifically for the backup vet. Please be very careful if they assign you to her.
