I have tried 4 times to book an appointment. I just needed to have my dog's nails trimmed. I pick a time that is available and have been denied each time. I feel they don't want to waste their time doing that even though I tip. I will not try again or even bother to shop the store. read more

I filed a complaint against Pet Sense in Somerset, Ky. on 02/10/22 after my Bichon Frise was groomed on 02/09/22. When I picked her up she looked HORRIBLE!! which was not the first time she was groomed there by the same groomer.The last time was Dec 2021, she didn't look bad, however not great, I 'm a person to give someone a second chance. I finally received a call this morning 2/18/22 @ 10:30 am from a man named Jeff from Pet Sense. He was as rude as anyone could ever be with a dog owner, interrupting me and not letting me speek, sure hope he wasn't from Corporate? I was expecting a call from a woman named Rachel whom I never received a call from. Apparently there was a picture sent to him (Jeff) after my Bichon was groomed, he mentioned "my dog didn't look bad". I asked him if he knows what a Bichon is suppose look like, he said "NO" he had no clue, so apparently he don't know anything about dog breeds. I asked if the groomers at Pet Sense are drug tested and he said 'NO". I firmly believe they need to be, (my opinion only) This groomer's eyes we"re blurry/dilated when I got there. Should have been my first indication. Oh well, a lesson learned. The man I talked to this morning (Jeff) did offer me a refund, so apparently this situation has been resolved. This is a local store in cottonwood and the employees are pretty terrible. The prices are pretty high for what they sell. You can go to tractor supply and get the exact same products for at least $5-$10 cheaper They sold us a bag of Purina pro plan that had worms in it and wouldn't return it because we didn't have the receipt. Even though we bought it the night before and it was the same employee at the checkout Called purina after the experiences at their store and purina fully refunded the food that was filled with worms. Which is how customer support should be handled. They gave us a couple manufacture coupons to use as a "sorry" for the worm infested foods. Since petsense is about 10 minutes closer than tractor supply we went back to get pro plan with these coupons. Let me just say - with manufacture coupons, the merchant is required to accept the coupons if they sell the products. Petsense refused to accept the coupons and when we told them that they are required to accept them - they still said they wouldn't. Even though the fine print on the back of the coupon says that they have to and if there's any problem to contact them. So I guess we will be back on the phone with purina tonight. When we asked why the service was bad here they said - well it can't be too bad because you keep coming back. I guess they just don't want us to come back. Funny thing is - we go through about 600lbs of dog/cat food a month between our animals and the animals we take care of. So being new to the area we were hoping to shop local and make a good relationship with a small shop. We have been in this store 3 times and each time it has been progressively worse. Very disappointed in this store. they have been out of my brand of dog food for over a month. Each time I go in they say a shipment is on the way should be here in this week. I drive from Camp Verde and each week they have not received my brand. It's very hard to buy 10 bags and get one free if you are stuck at 6 bags because they are not ordering my brand. Then today I checked still not in. Plus I bought some treats for 14.99 and they charged me 17.99. They make it hard to shop locally! read more

just now-Edit I took my first wolfdog to Ashlyn at Petsense for monthly grooming from 2017 until he died in 2019. I was informed on 2/3/2021 that effective 2/1/2021 they no longer groom wolfdogs. This policy is limited to the Petsense in Cottonwood. It is not a corporate policy I called other Petsense stores and they groom all dogs. Currently Ashlyn is the only groomer at Petsense and is booked out for usually a month to a month and a half. I have a couple recommendations for people who are looking for available alternative grooming locations. If you want to support a family owned and operated business there is Bark n' Purr, 928-399-3017. They are a premier boarding and grooming Facility with great reviews. They have a team of 5 groomers from bathers and blowouts to complete grooming depending on what your dog's needs are. They have openings as soon as next week. So does Petsmart,928-282-8572. I don't think it is right that only wolfdogs have been singled out for grooming exclusion. Petsense has lost a long time loyal customer. I will start purchasing all my dog supplies at a locally owned store Olsen's Grain, 928-649-3900. read more

Today I took Tippie to her regular groomer. This is the first time since the awful day she had at Pet Sense. She is usually pretty good for Jade until she has to have nails trimmed and her paws trimmed. Once Tippie was on the table she was petrified and so difficult to handle that I had to hold her with the muzzle on her face because she was panicking. Usually she was very good for Jade during the initial combing and the bath. This time I had to hold on to her during the bath because she was so uncooperative and she was never like this before being groomed at Pet Sense. Toward the end of her grooming she finally settled down and let Jade finish drying her head and ears without the muzzle. Tippie is now calm and happy and does love her groomer Auntie Jade. She has a date with Jade in 5 weeks. I took my Papillon to the Pet Sense grooming salon in Cottonwood, AZ because her regular groomer was unavailable. When I spoke with the person who was to bathe her I told her my little baby needs to be muzzled. My baby is eleven and a half years old and very hard to handle. Instead of muzzling her the groomer put on steel mesh gloves and let my little girl attack them till she got tired. That day and the next day she just slept ate a little but wouldn't play run for her toys or even want me to pet her. She has arthritis in her neck and I had to give her a pain medication earlier than usual. I'll never go back there for anything!!!!!!!!! Hi Jordana, Thank you for your quick response to my evaluation of my experience at your grooming salon. If the groomer had a muzzle on my Tippie how was she able to bite and attack the mesh gloves?? It's not possible for my little one to attack the gloves with the muzzle on her. I was shown a small bite bruise on the groomer's finger which couldn't have happened if my baby was muzzled!! It's true I wasn't there during her bath and grooming and can only go by what I was told when I picked her up. How can a muzzled dog bite through the muzzle when there is a mesh cover on the front of the muzzle she used?? read more

Pet vaccinations process poorly ran and disorganized. Employees appeared to not know what they were doing.

I have tried to use other groomers in town but have not found anyone that does better than here for stying my dog exactly as I instruct. He is always happy to go and trots right to the back of the store with his tail wagging. I get the full works and afterward, he always looks beautiful and smells great. read more

I've also purchased lots of dog food and other retail items - and made returns - without any issue. I give 4 stars only because I'm not a big fan of corporate businesses. I highly recommend their grooming facility. I do not have to wait weeks to get my dogs in. I will recommend to everyone. I have an English bull dog and they used special shampoo for sensitive skin just because they know the breed. There was no additional charge they just care about your pet. I was in from out of town and realized I needed to get my dogs nails clipped, as it was driving me crazy on the floor of my hotel room!! I called as the grooming shop was closing, but they hung around to wait for me. They did a great job, clipping then grinding, while I waited - and helped hold my big girl :-). Thanks!! read more
