Because he is horribly malnourished. And why does he have stuck shed? Because the humidity in his tank is not up to the proper levels for correct care of the species. First Things first some stores that you go to have people as greeters. Not this store they have a big old dinosaur waiting to greet you as soon as you walk in. All it is missing is the hot breath to breathe down your neck as you enter. It is actually pretty cool. Kids for sure love including the kids at heart. I Came here because my regular pet store was closed. They offer adopt a dog and cat services here. The breeds are mixes. They have lots of pet food options including natural and Hollistic if that is what your pet needs. They had so many snack varieties it is like the Wawa for pets only they are not open 24 hrs. The most interesting thing that I learned is that they have a reward system where you earn 2points for every dollar you spend plus every 12 bags That you buy of the Earthborne you get one free. Make sure you take notice of the prices on the shelves. When you go to purchase your pet food, it is ALWAYS at LEAST $2.00 more. I have encountered this NUMEROUS times over the years. I don't shop here often even though it's more convenient to go here than another pet store. We're not pleased with our experience there while getting a dog. We were told he has never walked on grass. They never took him for a walk outside. Which made him scared of everything. A 7 month old grew to 80 pounds which my family can't handle so we unfortunately had to give him to someone else. I don't even care about the $1000 we lost just getting the dog, what's disgusting is these people made the dog an emotional wreck. They don't care about the welfare of the animals just if they can make a buck. Do yourself a favor, actually do an animal a favor and go to an orphanage or rescue. Disgusting, unkept, smelly, and slow moving store. Didn't go in for adoption but the dogs looked miserable as well. Had about 4 workpersons in the store and none could check me out. The sole cashier checking out the people in front of me seemed to be taking a while which I didn't mind but no one offered to open up another lane, they just stood there laughing and gossiping. The cashier then just walked away without even saying that she was going to be taking a minute or get someone to cover her. Had to wait for a rude girl to finally make eye contact with me and get done chatting to briefly ring me up with terrible service. Terrible experience and will be ordering through Chewy. Horrid! I thing the staff at Pets Plus is always helpful and have given me great suggestions on better foods for our dog. The difference in the coat of our rotttie/beagle has improved dramatically and she loves the Zigniture food we give her. I also noticed the larger more open cages that the rescue dogs now have. The store is very large and nicely organized. The staff was friendly and willing to help, but I'm really surprised to see that they sell puppies ($500 a pop). In this day and age, do people still buy dogs from pet stores? I don't know where the store gets the puppies from, but I would hope future dog owners would consider adopting or at least a reputable breeder. Holy alert wow... One star Overall my first experience in this store left me meh. I agree with a previous review that said that some of he cages seemed dirty. I watched some of the dogs literally walking in they're feces... An employee walked by and made no attempt. The aquarium section left me saddened. Many dead fish (at least on my visit today). Specifically stuck to filter heads all over the systems on the wall. The angel fish were all hovering along the surface of the tanks, some meeting they're match already. African cichlids in all fairness looked okay! Just the tanks were filthy and there were many many mislabeled fish. Saltwater and coral ware scary. I was hard pressed to find something alive or not nearly dead. Almost went home with a cichlid until talking myself out of it as I was never asked for help even though many employees walked by. Also! Not to mention the other tanks looked so bad that it made me wonder what there's fish could be harboring... Nothing is worse then what I saw next. 3 of all the reptile enclosures actually had WATER!!!!!! Those that did were nearly dried up.. I have no words for this. Pictures will be posted.... I adopted my Schnoodle from the Delran store when she was 4 months old and she just celebrated her 11th Birthday! I recently adopted another puppy in August from Delran who has been needing some unforeseen extra special care. She is one amazing dog and I could not have been able to get her to where she is now without Dawn Bateman. This woman is truly a wonderful person. Her extreme generosity with her time, expertise, and financial resources (including getting help from her own personal vet) for Suzy has been overwhelming. Dawn even checks in from time to time just to see how my Suzy is doing. No other pet store or rescue organization has EVER done that. She is the epitome of a true animal lover. It just shows how much she and the Pets Plus Naturals Corporation truly care about all the animals they take in and try to find homes for. I also want to say a big thank you to Jen the store manager at the Delran store who took the time to help ensure that Suzy's transition to her new home was as stress free as possible. She also took the time to help me get her on the best food for her needs and always asks how she is doing when I stop by for all my pets needs. This place is close, and should be convenient, but it never is convenient. It seems like they hide anything i might need right before i get there, even the basics. They wont have the cat food or dog food i need when i need it. Milkbones? how do you run out of these? The place is so close to me, i seem to check it out more often than i should. The kids in there are just that, kids, but there is usually one person on shift that knows what they are talking about, hope to get that person, because the other people there will just stare at you like your an idiot when you ask basic questions. AT LEAST REACT! REALLY? this is part of what scares me about society. Also, they do sell puppies, and i am with the previous reviewer who feels that there are so many pets that need adopting, it seems a shame to go somewhere and see adorable pets breed just to be sold in a store, sitting in a small glass room, on display, waiting for a home. So I stopped here for the first time a few days ago. What a nightmare. I took one of my dogs in for a training lesson while I browsed the store. I think it's pretty obvious that we were working - I even had a clicker and giant treat pouch with me. So the manager (I assume, she was older and wearing a different shirt than the other dozen kids in the store) came over, very forward, and I pulled my dog away from her because we're busy and I don't need him getting outside reinforcement during training. She got almost offended by it I guess by the look on her face, and asked if he was friendly. For simplicity's sake I said no - usually people just leave you alone. Instead she asks if he's ok to be in the store. Seriously??? No, I just brought my man eater into the store, can't you see him growling and snarling at everyone? But I told her yes, he is fine and she left us alone. Then I saw her scurry around and whisper to most of the employees in the building while watching me. I can only imagine she was warning them about my aggressive tail-wagging dog that I dared bring into her store by the way she was glaring at me. The only time she wasn't watching me walk around the store were the few moments she took to sell a puppy to another couple of people. The attitude on this woman is unbelievable for someone working in customer service, though in my experience is pretty on par for Pets Plus employees. Cages are dirty full of poop and pee. Only 1 worker seems to know what their doing. Everything is dirty and run down. We got a dog from here because we felt sorry for it. Petsmart is way better. The employees are very nice. The store is unfortunately often understaffed which makes it tough for them. The work they are doing to increase animals that are adopted is stellar. On three separate occassions, I have been OVERCHARGED for my dog food. Each occassion I had to point out to the sales staff that the shelf price was less than what they were charging me. Each time I was told they didn't update the pricing on the shelf and they would HONOR the pricing this time. Thanks for honoring the listed price. I will never shop there again and feel foolish for returning after the first incident. This place disgusts me and I am sure there are other people who have shopped there who have not taken notice of being overcharged. I would never purchase a dog from this place or any other pet store. Very dirty. Two employees were at the front doing absolutely nothing but talking (I was there for well over a hour). Not once did either employee greet me or other guests. They had a cat alone in a cage on the floor. Very sweet cat, but it's poor litter box was full and flies were EVERYWHERE in it even landing on the cat. Very dirty store. Very lazy employees. Adopted my puppy back in May. As he is now the best thing that has ever happened to me I have to say that the whole adoption process was anything shy of great. First off I noticed him because he was eating his poop- disgusting I know. All of the cages were disgusting filled with piles of poop and the dogs left to lay in their own filth- empty cages not even a toy in them, and the dogs were left with empty water bowls as well. I asked to play with him as his eyes screamed help- My baby had mange all over him when we adopted him. They told us that he was microchipped and had all of his shots- including rabies. They also told us that he would come with pet insurance for a month- never got that. Before leaving the store they forced us to buy their food - normal because that was what he was used to eating so we did buy it but we didn't expect to get scolded for explaining we were going to start to ween off and switch him to Blue Buffalo puppy. It was unprofessional of the manager to scold us. We took our sweet baby home and made a vet appointment - come to find out he was NOT microchipped, did not have his rabies shot and his mange was never treated properly he also had Giardia - this vet bill was outrageous - after already paying the fees from them. I went back to the store for a few things a month later and was horrified to see that the cages were in the same condition - they do not care properly for their dogs at all ! The other locations seem to have beautiful kennels I'm not sure why the Delran location is so horrific. I am so glad we rescued our baby from that place. The management is terrible, the workers lazy and I unknowledge when asked questions and those puppies deserve more ! read more

I was in Pets Plus Delran on Saturday morning to buy some animal supplies. While I was there I noticed that a baby guinea pig was obviously ill. His head was tilted and he was not walking properly, When this was brought to the attention of the manager, she first tried to say that he was probably hurt from a child picking him up, but then admitted he was ill. His symptoms were consistent with a URI which is very serious in guinea pigs and also very contagious. She offered him to me for free. I did not take him at that time, but returned later that evening to pick him up because I was concerned about him. There was another little pig in the cage with him and it had been in there when I was there earlier also. They had never separated the sick pig out, nor cleaned out the cage. I took the pig to Mt laurel animal hospital emergency care and was told he had an URI that had turned into pneumonia. He was also dehydrated. They gave him subcutaneous fluids, recommended antibiotics, an anti inflammatory and critical care food supplements. They did at this point tell me that there was a good chance he would not survive. They offered me the option of euthanasia but I opted to try to save him. Unfortunately, Kevin, this is the name my daughter gave him, passed away Sunday evening. My husband, daughter and I all had grown quite attached to the little guy and were upset by his passing. I stopped in Pets Plus today to tell them that there is a very good chance that the other pig has the same infection Kevin did and was told they had sold him today. I am deeply concerned that a pet store would continue to house sick animals with well animals and then proceed to sell them without waiting a few days to see if symptoms develop. I would not recommend this store as far as buying a dog here. All dogs are puppy mill dogs, meaning, you do not really know what you are getting. If you don't mind paying a lot of money for a mutt, the dogs are cute but if you are buying a pedigree or designer breed, you'll still probably get a mutt. I paid $900. For a pure bred havanese and after $100 DNA test got a havanese mix. The papers he came with were not AKC they were ACA/ICA , which any mutt can get. I needed a small dog under 15 lbs bc of a back injury and I got a 35 lb dog that costs me 3x's more to feed,groom and I can't even pick him up.Customer service couldn't get any worse. Once they find out why I'm calling their attitude changes and nothing but complete rudeness and lies. Since this has happened, I have spoken to 4 other people with the same problem. Do yourself a favor, go to a reputable breeder. Put a stop to pet stores like this one getting rich by selling puppy mill mutts. read more

If I could give this store a zero, I would. Reeked of disinfectant from the minute I walked in, clearly they were trying to cover up the smell of the puppy mill dogs crammed in cages. $875 for a coonhound beagle mix?! Yeah ok. The employee even made a point of mentioning that "people think we don't play with these dogs" well ten minutes in a six by six pen whenever someone sees a cute face does not a happy dog make. The fish section was covered in water and smelled horrible. Products were old, dusty and overpriced. The birds were shoved in a tiny cage inside a makeshift display along with various hamsters . Guinea pigs and rabbits were on the floor in make-shift cages inhaling the fumes that were all over the store. This store needs to be shut down. read more

Been to this store a few times. Our first experience was on a Sunday, we met a very intelligent fish enthusiast whom worked in the fish department. Our second experience we met a young man who said he was now in charge of the aquarium department & bragged of his "knowledge". Our 3rd experience was with the same young man who gave us opposite information from our past experience....long story short we were going to buy pleco's for our tank, with some slight algae problems. He steered us to API algaefix instead of the pleco's and now within a few hours our fish are dying, some dead. WE are sick right now. You get attached to your fish just like any other pet and thanks for the AWFUL ADVISE YOU IDIOT plus many other choice adult words!!!! UNDERSTAND now after research, fish medications are not federally regulated so you don't know what you are buying. We have raised some of them since fry, your advise KILLED OUR FISH!!!!!!!!!! Hope this post will save some others from making the same mistake. Hindsight. ....any bottle warning that says wash your hands after coming into contact with this product &&&& can cause cancer hmm, maybe I should have thought twice but ASSUMING the product was safe & bottle said NOT "harmful" to fish. My new 10 week old puppy was having issues with eating her food. Either she didn't like it or it wasn't sitting well with her. So we went to Pets Plus in Delran to try and buy better quality food for her. We thought that the food that we got her was healthy because it didn't say by product or formula on it. There was a manager there named Jordan. He helped us check out different types of food for our puppy. He knew everything about the different types of food how many recalls on it that there been lately, who manufactures the type of food we were looking at and that she was eating prior, and where the food was manufactured. He helped us find the right food for our puppy and she's been eating every time she gets her meals. He also helped us fine proper training treats for her that work great. She loves everything he suggested, she eats all the food that she gets, and she seems to have more energy and is feeling better. I've only ever written one review on a business so far or person ever, but I was so impressed with Jordans knowledge and the fact that my dog is now eating every meal and seems to have more energy and just feeling generally better and healthier that I knew I had to write him a review. If you ever have any questions for any of your animals or if they're having issues eating their food anything like that you must see Jordan at Pets Plus in Delran, New Jersey. He really took the time to understand the product they are buying. I am really impressed and if I ever have issues with anything and need information about what I'm buying for my puppy I will definitely be seeing Jordan and Pets Plus in Delran. This place is kind of a dump in my opinion, but that's not really my big concern since they have pretty much all types of food. I'm more worried for the animals that don't seem to be properly cared for. I've been in the store a couple times to pick up rabbit food and every time its the same thing. Not all of the animals have water or food and the puppies and kittens look depressed and miserable. I guess I would be to if I lived in a plexiglass cube, no bed, and couldnt get away from the smell of my own feces...its ashame...its terrible that people still shop for pets when there are so many adoption pet sites. read more

I was wrong for how I felt before about this place after going several times i started to realize what a terrible pet store this place is. To start i was looking at the rescue pets they have to offer, they are poor living conditions and I witnessed one of the animals eating its own feces because it was so hungry. I felt so bad for this poor dog. I have heard from multiple people that the pets they adopted from this place always end up being sick or having more problems when they promote that they are healthy. These pets need to be adopted from there to take them away from the monsters that work there. Also the costumer service there is poor, I walked around the store for 15 minutes trying to find the treats my dog likes and when I asked the girl at the register she said she doesn't know if we have that when I have purchased it from there before. Then as i was trying to pay for my food the same girl took forever to ring everything up and when I needed the change she took the initiative to donate it for me when I said I didnt want to. They continuously lied and stole from me and they need to address these issues because their business is worried more about making money than the health of animals read more
