It's a relatively small store but packs in loads of stuff; we always get our puppy gravy bones from here which you can pick yourself, in a sort of doggy pick n mix. The prices are very, very reasonable too, with a good sized bag of dog treats coming to just under a pound. You would have paid triple that amount in Pets at Home! Hopefully this wee shop doesn't suffer because of Pets at Home's success!

They offer goldfish and various rodents as well as stick insects, spiders and snakes. I get the impression this shop is geared more toward children. I don't really approve of the breeding of animals merely for the sake of pets, but I do like a place to pick up animal food and bedding and Linlithgow Pet Shop does just that with all the trimmings.

Very poor customer service and rude staff. Near closing time I was trying to purchase some feed,…read morethe gentlemen in the warehouse were extremely kind and helpful!! However, when I went back into the shop the staff told me in a very rude manner that they would not allow my card payment. I had no other way of paying and I apologised and was then left to unload the feed from my car. The warehouse guys were really kind again by helping me and they were really apologetic! The girls then came back out the shop and then told me that they would now take my payment to which I refused due to their lack of informing me of them no longer taking payments and the rude, unfriendly manner I was treated with. I will not be shopping here again, which is a shame as the store seemed to have good stock and as previously stated, the guys in the warehouse were great!

They have quite the selection of hamsters and the staff are happy to let you see the hamster out of the cage before you buy. I had my heart set on a male syrian hamster and a particularly fluffy blond one caught my eye. Robert, the bashful teenage assistant brought him out the cage. It turned out that it had wet tail and I couldn't purchase that particular hamster. It was for the best since the hamster was a little bitey and nervous. (Wet tail can be caused by stress!) Sharon, the female sales assistant suggested a hamster which she said would be great and was one of the friendliest they had and was very chuffed when I took her advice! So, I left with my new hamster, Dwight, and everything I needed for him, including a membership to the Pets At Home veterinary service and a free health check. Pets At Home have a great range of reasonably priced pet toys and all those little extras for a content pet! I couldn't be happier with my new friend! PS. If you're not buying your cage at Pets At Home, a hamster will very easily chew through the two small cardboard carry boxes they give you. I learnt the heard way when I had to run home with a very mischievous hamster poking through an increasing number of holes!

Its so strange how it closes down and reopens a few months later, only to close again a month later then reopen again. God knows why. I've always thought it would do quite well as it is the only one of it's kind in Motherwell. As well as budgies, different species of fish, hamsters and rats, the shop also sells small lizards, snakes and spiders, which is quite exotic for humble Motherwell. They aren't that expensive either. This wee shop also sells the usual stuff like cages, food, filters for tanks, dog leads and beds. Decent enough, and if you get the man who owns it then he knows his pets. He'll answer any questions you have. Just hurry up before it closes down again!
