I then went back in store and waited in line for about 10 min before a cashier asked what I needed. I said fillup on pump 2. She directed me to your self checkout machines which I told I don't use because they never work right. She told me ours work fine. She started the process and told me to just use the card machine to finish the transaction. I inserted the card twice and was given faulty transaction both times i then tried the chip scanner and was given a card chip error. The kiosk then asked if I wanted to contine transaction. I pressed "NO" while I let the whole store know the same. I then was asked what was wrong. I informed her these f...ing things don't work, your pumps don't f...ing work. I'm f...ing done. She then offered to check me out. I told her it's too late. Im going somewhere else. Did I mention when we arrived and I was checking in the smell of fresh muffins baking in the oven was wafting throughout the lobby. The multi talented chef checked us in. Happy we did. You enter your room from the oitside. (Not something my wife likes in a hotel.) She likes to enter her room from the inside. Tried unsuccessfully to cancel the room. Happy we stayed. The owner, Michael, is a Marine and many retired/inactive military and police stay here. The staff, (ie. Alan) is jovial and pleasant. He's always in a good mood--seemingly. American flags are everywhere and military decor peppered throughout the lobby. The news station in breakfast area is on Fox News. The breakfast is killer. You get eggs made to order, including omelettes, too. Cut fruit, biscuits and gravy, breads individually bagged. The rooms are clean. We got slippers and a chocolate mint on our beds. The shower curtain is a beautiful American flag design. A lot of pluses for a great price.

It's old, has many miles on it, but Ramada did a good job saving it and offering a decent room for the money. That being said, the REAL reason to choose this hotel is the dining room hostess, Mary. She is the "Hostess of West Memphis". Smiling Mary has worked at this hotel for 27 years and let me tell you, this is her dining room, it is her breakfast being served, and you are her guests. It's almost like being with family! She is warm, welcoming, caring and takes obvious pride in everything. Do you like biscuits and gravy? Mary's homemade specialty....the gravy AND the biscuits, are served with pride and we loved it all. This morning's counter lady is warm and caring as well. I watched as she went to the trouble of printing out a map and highlighting a route for a gentleman leaving the hotel after breakfast and making it all up while he enjoyed his breakfast. Yes, this motel is on the West Memphis, AR side of Memphis and the whole area does look sketchy. But this Motel 6 seems to be undergoing renovation and cleaning up the rooms and infrastructure. Our room was clean and we did not have any problems. They still have carpet in the room. I've noticed that other Mo 6s have started putting down laminate floors. My main complaint was the noise on the highway side of the motel. If we stay in the area again, I would ask for a room on the back side.

Our first stop was Motel 6 in Memphis and they sure went above and beyond making this the worst experience ever. The room is filthy. Hair ALL OVER the shower. The bathroom was clearly not cleaned before the motel let this room out to another guest. This can be evidenced by the urine stain on the toilet seat, the lack of towels that have obviously been disheveled by another guest, the hair in the shower. I mean, what on earth is that stain on the wall?! We went downstairs to complain at the front desk and did not even receive an apology - just a blank stare. But we did get two extra towels. One of which had black stains all over it and looked like it had been run over by a car. -.- Other hotels in the area were about $50 more to stay. Since we were just doing a quick overnight, we didn't think it would be worth the extra $50. We were wrong. Just spend the extra money. This Motel 6 should be shut down for good. DO NOT STAY HERE.

There aren't a lot of places to eat in this location except at the Mexican restaurant and bar across the street. So, if you aren't hungry for Mexican, you have to hunt for food. We didn't particularly like the location because of that. I checked the rate online and asked when I walked in if I could get the same rate there or if it'd be cheaper online. She said she could give me the same. Of course, she didn't. I was charged about $6 more but it was a little late to run back out to the car and make the reservations on my tablet. Evidently they had recently had some TVs stolen. So, checking in not only is your credit card ran through their system, they also write the number down on their check in slip. I didn't like this at all but if my card gets compromised I'll know where it came from. I thought this was very poor. There weren't a lot of guests but they were all put into the same area. We had neighbors that stayed up all night talking and watching TV. Needless to say, we didn't sleep so about 3 AM we were out of there and not sure we'd stay at another Red Roof after this one.

The entire place is run down, front lobby stinks of cigarettes like Freemont St in Las Vegas, pool is cloudy and filled with dirt and leaves, elevator buttons are mislabeled, etc. Our non smoking room smelled of cigarettes, was filthy, had cigarette holes all over the blanket and sheets, rugs and bathroom floor had bugs and fleas, bed had fleas, wool covering was put under sheets (I itched all night) wallpaper and floor baseboards are peeling off the wall, A/C has thick dirt and mud all over it, and dirt in corners of bathroom. To make matters worse, the motel is next to a busy, noisy train track. It's beyond awful. I guess I shouldn't have expected much from a Super 8. Totally disgusted. DO NOT RECOMMEND.... BEWARE
