They are far less busy than the Esso station slightly north of this station. Essentially the three stations (Petro-Canada , Esso, and Shell) on Ontario Street have the cheapest gas in St. Catharines and the surrounding area. One nice plus for this place is that their window washing liquid has soap in it (most gas stations just use water which is dirty most of the time).

The price gap today isn't as drastic, but in general this station still keeps prices at the lowest in the city, even if it's a fraction of a cent. During gas price hikes the gap increases, and you'll know because you will literally be waiting in line to fill up. You may want to weigh the time wasted vs the amount you save, as well as the aggravation of navigating the crowds. But if you're in the area and need gas, you can be pretty certain you won't save anything by driving around so if it's not crowded it's a solid choice.

All facilities are new because there was nothing there before. There are 10 gas pumps in the middle of the lot, nicely spaced apart. There is an attached convenience store called "On The Run". There is a car wash which is almost finished construction. There will be a Tim Hortons, separate from the convenience store, in the near future. I was there on 2023-01-03. On that day, the typical gas price was 149.9 c/L. This gas station had a price of 144.9 c/L. However, St. Catharines' cheapest prices for Esso were normally on Ontario St, and on the same day, the price was 139.9 c/L. There were some troubles with the card reader at the pumps, even though the temperature was about 5C. Trivia: The owner also owns an Esso at 278 Lake St (which I've been to before) and 7 stations in Toronto. There is no free WiFi. The facility is wheelchair accessible. There is free parking. Well on Saturday Dec 19th the last price I saw before leaving GTA was something like 102.9. On the way back from a quick stop in Niagara Falls I popped in to this Ontario street Shell to get gas because I wanted to see for myself exactly how much it was. I was not disappointed. From 102.9 to 88.9 that's a difference of 14 cents. I know there's more affordable gas in Vaughan than other locations in GTA when compared to say Etobicoke or Burlington but 14 cents less than the rest of the GTA? That's truly way below and considering it's even less than Niagara Falls which is a border town (mind you the USD exchange is horrible now), still that's a pretty great savings. If you happen to be passing through St. Catharines buy gas anywhere around Ontario street or where ever it's cheap! I choose Shell because of Air Miles and I'm just used to going to Shell. The pumps here DO NOT have pay at the pump which is really strange I thought but you do not have to pre-pay on the pump I was at least. I can't remember the last time I couldn't pay at the pump and I didn't have to pre-pay. Different yes but savings, also yes.

They had tough rules and were extremely busy. Instead, I usually went to the Petro-Canada slightly south of them. But in 2019, they are no lineups any longer (guess people are used to the cheap prices). So now I'll go there whenever I want to collect PC Optimum points. In 2020, a few other gas stations around the St. Catharines area now have the same low prices, most of the times. There are still no lineups here any longer. I noticed a lack of paper towels. During pandemic times, some gas stations ask you to use their paper towel when using their pumps - great idea - but I could use that idea at this gas station. They have a car wash and tire air pump.

Called S&W Towing. They took it to their service centre. He agreed to let them check it out, and they came back saying they could fix it. Great. He picks it up, and it's still rough driving. They say it's all good, just needs to be driven. (he knows nothing about cars and believes that they say) On the way home, it gets worse, but he makes it back to Port Colborne. This is on a Friday, Monday comes, and he calls, they arrange to have the car towed back to their shop. Wonderful, not so much. They now tell him he needs a sensor so they can determine the cause. Days go by, and a week later, he picks up the car again.. Guess what.. still not running right.. I suggest he take it to my repair shop. They check it out and it's the transmission.... So after forking out 2000 bucks to S&W, who say it's all good.. (_what the ???) he still needs to get the original issue fixed.. The moral of the Story, do not go to S&W auto repair, I have serious doubts if they know what they are doing, or if they do, they just took advantage of someone who is a good person.

I have since learned Wayne, the owner, has recommended this to others that have not needed engines.
