The hype is real. My coworker, Justin S has been telling Ryan F and myself of the gas wars in St. Kitts and how their prices are crazy low compared with even Niagara Falls which is a border town.
Well on Saturday Dec 19th the last price I saw before leaving GTA was something like 102.9. On the way back from a quick stop in Niagara Falls I popped in to this Ontario street Shell to get gas because I wanted to see for myself exactly how much it was.
I was not disappointed. From 102.9 to 88.9 that's a difference of 14 cents. I know there's more affordable gas in Vaughan than other locations in GTA when compared to say Etobicoke or Burlington but 14 cents less than the rest of the GTA? That's truly way below and considering it's even less than Niagara Falls which is a border town (mind you the USD exchange is horrible now), still that's a pretty great savings.
If you happen to be passing through St. Catharines buy gas anywhere around Ontario street or where ever it's cheap! I choose Shell because of Air Miles and I'm just used to going to Shell.
The pumps here DO NOT have pay at the pump which is really strange I thought but you do not have to pre-pay on the pump I was at least. I can't remember the last time I couldn't pay at the pump and I didn't have to pre-pay. Different yes but savings, also yes. read more
