What does all this have to do with China & Crystal Clinic? TSA broke a piece of pottery my husband had purchased for me, too. So much for carrying your valuables with you. In any case, we took the item to China & Crystal Clinic. Now granted, it was not cheap. It was $145 to re-attach the tail to the kitty and do the touch-up work, but it was really excellent work. I highly recommend this business for restoration of valuable or even treasured items. Don't expect it to get done in a hurry. It was about 3 months, but worth the wait!

Rather then bash or down play the experience, ld much rather just say what happened.. I contacted this establishment by email, expressing my desire to have a dish restored to its original state. I am a veteran, and while on cruise, l purchased a really nice Japanese Tea set. Not long after l was notified $250 for the job. Also to send pictures of the pieces in detail with instructions to remove anything that may impede the restoration. Once done an a few back and forth emails setting up the appointment, that price soon raised to $285 from $250. No biggie, ball park estimates l get it. Finally the day of, lm then notified a total of now $300 will be the final asking price after another small discussion of steps and procedures. Reluctantly, again no issues, l fill out what needs done, and am told about 4 to 6 weeks for completion time. A full two and a half months later, lm told things went well and am sent pictures. I reply however, l can see the cracks in the pictures. Is that something thats next? An lm then notified that what was done was simply for gluing (bonding) the five small peices together. For filler and paint, will be an additional $900. As you can imagine very confused at this moment. Nothing at all was mentioned about this, in person nor in any of the emails. I kept them all for references. I replied that that wasnt what l was notified, in fact at no point in time was any of that mentioned. During the asking of the $300 there was no mention of only gluing nor the extra fee of $900. Not once. Im then notified if you do not want to pay the $900 to finish the restoration. You can pick up your small 5'inch tea saucer. As anyone could imagine my disappointment, especially not being from here originally. Im guessing that that is simply how business is done here in this state.. However, l found that to be extremely unpleasant, and unprofessional to say the least. I also do not believe l will be giving any references. I believe two stars is fair. Although l can not say that l'd recommend anyone take their business to this establishment. Thanks for your time..

I can't for the life of me figure out why someone would give this company a favorable review. The repair person is Dawn. She had my music box from 5/4/24 until 6/15/24 and yet it was still broken when I got it home. She knew that I needed it for a memorial service--it's a music box that's been in our family for a few years and I wanted to display and play it. I wasn't able to bring the music box to the memorial because she was so late in returning it--it was such a horribly sad thing. I would call to see how the repairs were going and she put me off each time with a variety of excuses. She told me that the "comb" needed to be replaced and it would cost $175 because she had to order it from another music box repair person in California. I told her this was OK because I assumed it was indeed expensive--it's an old music box. She told me that something called the brass governor cup was "giving her trouble". She told me that she was having trouble with the "arm". She told me that the man in California was going to repair it. I called the man in California and he told me that she had sent a few music boxes like mine for repair and he didn't know which one was mine. On her invoice she wrote that her repairs were $150. Also on her invoice she noted that her materials were $239--SHE DIDN'T TELL ME IT WOULD BE THIS MUCH IN ADVANCE. The total was $389.30 and, oddly, the part for $175 was not listed. I can't tell what she actually did from her invoice or even if she bought a comb for $175. I had to pay it because I needed the music box back. I did, however, file a dispute with my credit card company who credited me back the $389.30 and will pursue my complaint with the Music Box Company.
