I have a 16 yr old cockapoo I rescued 11 yrs. ago. Maestro (my dog) is my only child. I dove in head first researching traits of a cockapoo and how to give him the best quality of life. Finding a veterinarian who supported my beliefs was of the utmost importance. It took me 11 yrs to find a Dr who could cure Maestro of his digestive issues. Do not bring your dog here if he/she is at all anxious or skittish. They do not have proper safeguards in place and are in a very congested area close to several major highways. As a result, our Luna girl got loose during the exchange with their staff (which took place outside in an open area since they do not let you bring your pet inside). She was subsequently hit and killed on Route 70. This was a devastating experience for my family, including my young son, and I would hate to see another family go through this. Had we been able to bring her in to the vestibule to make the exchange, this tragedy could have been avoided. I hope they will consider updating their protocols especially when they know (as they did with our Luna) that the dog is anxious. read more

I cannot recommend Dr Dana Taylor or PETPT as my experiences here have been damaging. I didn't know how bad my experience was until I requested my pup's full history and went elsewhere! Check the medical history for inaccuracies before changing vets! There was a world of difference in my dog's care upon going elsewhere. I knew finding a vet would entail some trial and error to find a good fit; but, I never anticipated learning of repeated errors by vet that would affect the health/welfare of my vulnerable puppy. My dog's first visit was incomplete, inaccurate, ineffective and lacking practical information to treat a common problems of a parasite and itchy ears. Two mths after first visit, dog has not improved. Dr Taylor claimed her ears were fine; feces positive for parasite. She had 3 fecal tests! And, 3 rounds of daily medication for treatment! Tech/by phone reports dog is still "positive" for Giardia each of 3 times! Dr Taylor--uninvolved and UNRESPONSIVE. I've since switched to a different vet/business, thankfully, before giving my dog prescribed meds for yet another full month per Dr Taylor--order came by way of a phone call from a "tech" w/NO explanation, concern or response to long term meds. I sent questions in an email to vet who had been paid for her presumed education/experience (while trying to avert mean/careless desk person). The same labs done at Pet PT were interpreted very differently by next dr at a well regarded practice who proceeded to get 2nd opinion in her office after learning of Taylor's advice. My puppy has NO "Active" Giardia according to Pet PT's own labs. Pup required only ONE treatment. She may have dead giardia cysts in her feces for up to a year but ACTIVE parasite was resolved after 1st med rx. My dog should NOT have been given 2 more rxs OR 2 additional giardia labs ($80). The 2nd treatment was tab daily X10 days. The 3rd treatment--twice daily X30 days! None were appropriate. No med should be prescribed for INACTIVE Giardia cysts! Pet PT profited on unnecessary fecal tests, drugs, appts and by hurting not helping my dog; 1 lab was enough to determine INACTIVE parasites! A clever little money maker for pet PT --not good for my tiny dog's intestines. She is 2.5 lbs/4 mths. NO need to test again until 1 yr. The new vet didn't need a new fecal test to tell them what 1, 2 and 3 labs from PetPT stated! Beyond overmedicating my puppy and over-profiting from extra labs ... desk person cannot be trusted. She spent her time bad-mouthing me in my dog's written medical record after a phone call made to get help. She wrote up complaints about my phone manner --into my puppy's permanent medical history. I expressed concern/frustration about 2 mths of treatment WITHOUT explanation or care taken by Vet to speak with me. When a desk person has free time to inaccurately "quote" complaints about this paying client who has not been helped and Practice allows it--go to new practice. Get your dog's history before changing vets! Receptionist's editorial complaints in my dog's medical history is unethical, unprofessional and damaging to the future health of my dog! I shared this w/other dog owners who were stunned & angry and told me to get it corrected. Not worth my time. Pet pT was harmful to my pet's health. Regularly REQUEST dog's medical history to check for their factual inaccuracies on dog and editorials about you. They'd had the wrong birthdate which i corrected 3x before they fixed it --complete lack of attention to details like reading a lab result properly. They also failed to listen to vaccine input important to a tiny dog! Upon requesting dog's complete medical record so i could go elsewhere --i had to start all over-- (additional $200 for next first vet visit/to undo damage done by PetPT where i spent hundreds. I learned many things at new vet including corrections on PetPt, Dr Taylor's ERRORS. New vet/different practice today was exceptional in comparison. Pup taken off toxic unnecessary medication. Dr Taylor had advised NO flea/tick treatment for dog under 5 lbs (and, ONLY upon my asking)--SHE DID NOT address flea/tick AT ALL for a new puppy. Weather warmer, pup needs protection--new vet treating my dog (preventively) who may never reach 5 lbs! I wasted $400 at Pet PT due to incompetence. I also mentioned my concern to Dr Taylor that due to pup's small size, 1 vaccine instead of 2 at same time might be safer. She neglected that too! I saw dog was scheduled for two/same day (in medical history/received only because i was leaving vet!). New vet agreed ONE vaccine--w/return in 2 wks for next. New vet: 100% more thorough/detail oriented; kind, patient, professional, accurate--none of which was my experience at PetPT where my pup was OVER-medicated--the worst of Taylor's errors. I strongly suggest getting a 2nd opinion when you experience anything similar. I learned far too much ONLY AFTER seeing my dog's brief medical history and changing Vets. read more

My experience with them, especially for something as painful as handling my dog getting cancer & end of life care, was truly amazing. With their help she was able to live longer without any aggressive treatment & have a beautiful quality of life. They truly care about animals & have the kindest hearts. They were there giving me sound advice & help every step of the way & I cannot recommend them enough. read more

I can't believe no one has reviewed Pet PT! My beloved dog has now torn BOTH her ACLs and she is currently in physical therapy for the second one. The first one happened about a year ago and she was in pretty bad shape by the time I found Pet PT. I wanted to avoid surgery so I tried "conservative management" (meaning not letting her move around and hoping it was healed). Well Pet PT has a different definition of conservative management - They advocate controlled exercise. My dog goes on the underwater treadmill for exercise and I have to say she has been doing wonderful. Rather than put her through the trauma of surgery twice(not to mention the trauma to my wallet!), we have been able to get her back to the same ol' Lily with the help of the wonderful staff of pet PT read more

PetPT is the best. I have been taking my [now 3 year old] miniature lab to them since i adopted her. Prior to the adoption i did a lot of research to find 1 facility where my new family member could receive an excellent continuum of care, not matter what her needs. Dr. Howe-Smith came highly recommended from people who had followed him from Redbank and i am so glad i took their advice! He and his staff are knowledgeable, caring and available when I need them (even when i get a little neurotic and turn into a tiger-mom dog owner)! You can not do better than PetPT. read more

If I could give more than five stars, I would. Dr. Howe-Smith & his staff are some of the nicest, most compassionate, & caring people I've ever met. He takes his time during appointments and really listens to your concerns and addresses all of them without making you feel stupid or rushed. Whereas other vets rushed to tell me my one dog needed immediate surgery for a partial ACL tear, Dr. Howe-Smith suggested water therapy which built up her muscles and she has had no problems with her leg over the last three years! He is now treating my other dog for a neurological condition that affects his back legs and we are also getting acupuncture from Dr. Noelle at the office which is going well! Pet PT is responsible for my little paraplegic dog Benny learning to walk again. Dr. Howe-Smith and Dr. Noelle Knight are wonderful clinicians who recommended treadmill water therapy and acupuncture after his IVDD surgery. He had blown out several discs in his spinal cord. Excellent vet, who specializes in geriatric care. I took my almost 17 year old Boston Terrier to see him. No wait. Vet was a very good listener, and answered all my questions/concerns. I would give him six stars, if that was possible. Previously I took her to as a member to a ER hospital in Mt. Laurel. The vets there would have me in tears. One said she would probably only live a week longer (a month ago). Also, they didn't answer my questions. The second vet was kind of rude, and would ask me if I was listening. read more

I've been taking my dog to Dr. Russel Howe-Smith since 2014. I finally got the PRP (platelet rich plasma) injections in my dogs knees and he's been like a new dog since I got it done and that was 2 years ago. Initially I thought Dr. Howe-smith was a specialty vet but although he works a lot with neuro and ortho issues he does do everything. Even though he's in cherry hill and I'm in williamstown I think I'm gonna make the complete switch and just have him be both my dogs vet. His prices are literally half what my local vets are. I didn't realize it until recently refilling my dogs meds at my local vet to avoid the drive but next time I'll just take the drive. This vet is like the Dr. Jeff of the east coast. Practical, fair prices and does the best for your dog. Would refer 1000x over. read more

This place is outstandingl! It changed my dog's life! Dr. Howe-Smith and his entire staff are awesome!! My dog has luxating patella, and was using 3 legs to walk. Surgery had been recommended. Through going to the water treadmill, he got better. He diligently went to therapy, and now, he is so strong! He didn't have to get the luxating patella surgery. I thank everyone for improving the quality of my dog's life. He uses all four legs, and he is even able to jump onto the bed now, which is something he couldn't do before. Thank you again! read more

I was told of Pet PT by a friend after my dog had an ongoing urinary incontinence issue. I was excited to find a vet I could trust! After my first visit here, I was told that my dog may have a tumor, but my vet, Dr-Howe-Smith, wanted to rule out anything else first. I was obviously very upset and concerned by this news. Dr. Howe-Smith decided to do some diagnostic testing and put her on a steroid. He told me to call and check in with him after each week to assess her progress. I was pleased with my first visit, and excited because Dr. Howe-Smith seemed like he genuinely cared about my pet; however, Dr. Howe-Smith showed his lack of concern for my dog after not returning multiple phone calls and even emails in which I desperately tried to get in contact with him. He made promises of "touching base" but I could never reach him. My dog was getting sicker. I was hopeless and devastated trying to reach him. I was calling three times a day at one point trying to reach him and being told by the receptionists that they would "personally give him my messages." I even left him a couple voicemails on his direct line crying asking for help because my dog was not improving. My last option was to show up at the clinic asking to see him where I was told "sorry he cannot talk right now but you can schedule a visit with him TWO weeks from now." At this point I switched to an animal hospital and they immediately diagnosed my dog with bladder cancer. I have YET to hear back from Dr. Howe-Smith and this was over a month ago. I am still so upset by this experience that I felt compelled to write this review to make others aware. read more

Pet PT is most definitely a hidden gem. Our senior golden retriever was suffering from a lame leg - we brought her in on the recommendation of another vet and it was such an awakening for all of us. Dr. Howe-smith is incredibly gentle, knowledgeable and in-tune with canines. He knew exactly how hard to push our dog, was spot on with his diagnosis and shows incredible patience. His staff are all wonderful, friendly and knowledgeable. Whether my dog used the swimming pool or the water treadmill - she was most definitely getting a well rounded therapy session which I am convinced has extended her life. read more

Honestly the very best place to take your pet! Dr. Howe-Smith is wonderful. When I brought my 9 year-old Berner in to see him, he was able to put his finger exactly on the spot where Albus was experiencing pain. He is very patient and answers all your questions, while sitting on the floor with your animal. The kindness that we experienced with the entire staff was amazing! Dr. Noelle even came out to the waiting room once just to discuss a concern that I had prior to water therapy. Everyone, from the front desk people (special shout out to Chelsea!, who always came out to give Albus kisses), to the vet techs, to the pharmacy tech, to the water therapy techs....so amazing! Kind and supportive, they felt more like part of our family. There was more than one time that me or my daughter sat at water therapy and cried about our dear sweet Albus and his increasing mobility issues. And Steph and Cody in particular just let us cry, and were incredibly supportive. When we finally had to make the difficult decision to put Albus to sleep, we received a beautiful card signed by all the staff, with very personal messages. And the best part is, the prices here are so reasonable, which is great when your dog has a chronic issue and you don't have pet insurance! I would highly recommend Pet PT, and they will always have a special place in my heart. read more

Dr. Howe-Smith and his staff are AMAZING. Everyone is kind and friendly, we never have long wait times for appointments, and the care our beloved family members receive is second to none. We used another local vet for years and were increasingly dissatisfied with the service and the rising costs and they would constantly try to push procedures that were not necessary (for example telling me they may have to amputate my dog's toe because she "might" have a tumor.....it was a BROKEN NAIL). My neighbor recommended Dr. Howe-Smith and I cannot imagine a better vet out there. He is kind and patient and clearly loves his work and his patients. He gets down on the floor with your pets (no scary exam table) and really takes his time to thoroughly check them out, while still being noninvasive. This is our vet for life! read more

The Dr in this practice is very good however the front office is unorganized. I have called many times to speak to the Dr being promised he would return my call about treatments for my dog and have yet to have heard back. The physician called me after the evaluation but the staff apparently is not being responsible getting messages to him. read more

My 6 month old Labrador tore her cruciate in her knee. Since her growth plates hadn't closed, Dr. Howe-Smith treated her conservatively and did not recommend surgery. I kept her movement restricted for a month or so, we did water therapy as well as Dasuquin. She has healed wonderfully! You cannot tell that she was once lame. read more
