They went above and beyond for me today they knew I fell in love with a specific dog and that dog with myself and they did everything they needed to do to work with me and make sure myself and my son was going home with our new member of the family . Best pet store in Lynchburg, we have purchased ferrets from them and they are both in great health. Me and my girlfriend love visiting this store just to interact with the animals they have out in the play areas (especially big cat). The staff there is amazing and very honest with you on the health and overall behavior of each and every animal they have. We have chosen to only shop for any of our pets needs here and I recommend everyone else to do the same. 10/10 would go here before any other store (especially PAWS because they only care about making money and won't help when you unknowingly purchase a sick animal from them with there so called "health guarantees) We love Petopia!!! read more

PLEASE read Harley's story before purchasing a puppy from this store so that you can make an informed decision..... On Dec 16,2017 , I purchased my beautiful Siberian Husky puppy (Harley) for $1500. I made sure I took him to my vet after 5 days of purchase. Other than parasites, he "appeared" physically healthy.My vet was concerned by his extremely timid & aggressive demeanor.We both felt that with lots of love, training, & socialization he would grow out of it. Sadly he did not. Over time it became painfully clear that Harley's issues were a lot more than behavioral. He began to present with progressive neurological issues which indicated some type of central nervous system defect/disorder. He would lose his balance when walking/running & he would be unable to regain his balance. His little wrist jts would buckle and he would fall straight down on his chin. He would bite & knaw on his legs/feet/tail to the point that we were fearful he would cause severe trauma to himself. He would also bite on me & my family whimpering the entire time. He would ram his head into the walls, furniture,& us. He would consistently hit himself in the head with his paws.He would stare at the ceiling & bark at unseen objects. He could only run in circular patterns & would become easily fatigued. He couldn't climb stairs due to his poor coordination so I carried him up/down every night so he could sleep with me. His eyes stayed dilated & were non reactive to light. He lost interest in everything & began losing weight. He would consistently pace & rock back/forth. He appeared to be in pain most of the time & there was nothing we could do to ease it. The list of horrible symptoms go on and on... On July 6,2018, Harley had rapidly declined. I took him to my vet & we made the decision to put my baby to sleep & send him to Heaven. I attempted to speak with Petopia's owner to discuss Harley - hoping to protect other puppies & unsuspecting consumers. I had to leave a note & was assured a return phone call ASAP. I waited over a week-no call so I went back to the store. I spoke with the owner (April) who assured me she did not get my message (it actually had been cut out of the notebook-hmm). Despite the purchase contract terms, she gave me her assurance that she would "make it right" due to the unusual nature of Harley's situation. She requested his records & stated she wanted to send them to the breeder & his vet.I did not feel comfortable with having copies of his records dispersed to strangers so I informed her I would be happy to sit down with her & breeder & allow them to go over Harley's records. This was not good enough for her & she then requested that my vet consult with the breeder's vet. I was becoming increasingly disturbed by the owners remarks & actions so I requested my money back. As she requested, my vet contacted 1 of the breeder's vets & consulted with him on Harleys clinical presentation,etc... Petopia's owner would no longer accept my calls &I was told Petopia's owner was "too busy" for me. I sent emails & certified letters to Petopia's owner in attempt to give her a chance to follow through since I did everything she requested. I finally got an unprofessional email back from Petopia's owner with what I perceived as a threat of Petopia's lawyer ,as well as, the breeder's lawyer if I contacted BBB recommendations &/or if I wrote negative review. Last I checked, I have rights as a consumer. I foolishly believed the "PR" hype plastered all over Petopia. I WILL NOT be bullied into keeping Harleys story to myself. I will speak for him! I just wanted what I paid hard earned money for... a guaranteed healthy puppy. Consumers beware... The contract provides a 10 DAY HEALTH GUARANTEE from purchase date & you must obtain permission from Petopia if you choose to euthanize your puppy even if he is suffering. Who in their right mind would get a $3000 MRI of their puppy within 10 days of purchase to ensure he didn't have a brain defect??? RIDICULOUS! Plus, who would request permission from strangers to make the HORRIBLE decision to put down a suffering puppy??? This contract obviously does not protect the consumer nor the puppies.Just think about that before you make your decision to deal with these people. I don't want to see any other puppy go through the painful nightmare my Harley went through nor do I want to see families devastated by watching their puppy suffer a horrible existence. Today, Harley would have been 1 year old. I was planning a big birthday party for him but he'll never have another birthday. He was so precious to me & my family & I cry for him every day. I would give anything to have him back healthy & whole. Doesn't seem right that I paid $1500 for a puppy that only lived 6 1/2 months after purchase & not be offered some sort of reimbursement..... A disgusting and disappointing establishment all around. The owner and staff are rude, unprofessional, and simply nasty people. I requested to look at a dog I had been watching for a while and the woman (April) refused to let me see it because I "didn't look serious" about the dog even though I had the money in my wallet. The dogs are cute, but come from puppy mills and I could not justify their astronomical prices for a dog from a mixed litter and rude establishment. Please consider adopting from ANYWHERE else. These are professional SCAM ARTISTS, they know how to trick you, and I would hate for anyone else to lose their hard earned money to such a terrible place. read more

My experience w Petopia so far has been so disappointing, I found out right before I almost purchased two of their bengal cats they were sending me pictures of the parents they got from the parent but I ende up seeing the same photo they gave to me was on a. UK chattery advertisemenot online. TCA told me they are investigating it and they were going to ask Petopia to take the TC a logo of the advertisement online for their kittens and they are talking to a lawyer about what to do about the actual registration in the store that they're telling potential buyers about. With a little bit more digging and investigation I have a feeling that Petopia knows that they're not dealing with someone that's extremely reputable because we just showed them they're not but they want to continue defend them so I do not know the relationship there but I am guessing they are doing this for financial gain they probably got these kittens for a super good price and are trying to get a premium price for them. It's probably some wood I called back yard Bengals breeding and making up lineage because they know the TCA registration is the honor system... So it's just my opinion that these people aren't are honorable but in case I'm wrong I asked him for the name of the breeder of the animal you want to buy and they should be able to answer any questions for you and if they can't they can call the breeder and ask them in the first thing I would do is see if you can visit that cattery.... I have a suggestion really research. You can find amazing Bengal kittens in all other types of kittens and dogs and puppies from reputable breeders that have done many generations where you can go to the breeders location meet the breeders meet the studs in the queens see all the kittens asked for references and actually called his references and called TCA and get the lineage and make sure everything makes sense to you because TCA is on the honor system just like all the other animal registration system that I know about it I think there's a couple that do a lot more but yeah this TCA system is a sham as far as protecting you from the bad people there are reputable breeder to do a really good job you just have to watch out for the people who are trying to just take your money and they don't care that you're not really getting what you think you're getting. I thought it was so weird when I called to discuss the basketball situation to let them know that the breeder might be trying to trick them and I got such a hard time and told that the owner probably wasn't gonna call me back unless I gave more detailed information. I read several of the reviews good and bad about this job and the owner and it's staff and as far as the negative reviews go I would say some people described it better than I did it was terrible service except for maybe my first interaction with him which consisted of me calling just to see if there were Bengals and the woman already trying to talk me into giving her deposit because they're going to go so fast wish they didn't go back go fast.. any employee or owner of the pet shop or any breeder that is literally trying to pressure you into giving them money for a deposit to get a cat dog, bird anything I would I will stay away from.. reputable breeders have kittens coming all the time... go there and see if you make a magic connection but don't be pressured ... unless your in a hurry and not worried... The reason I'm saying this as you want to have a healthy animal when I see other reviews were people are complaining about the health of an animal or they had trouble either getting their money back returning the pet and that is a complete nightmare. read more

These people are horrible. Dogs only have limited AKC registration. They do not have a health guarantee except for 10 days. Staff does not know what they are doing. Everything in the store including the animals is so overpriced. Suggest that you shop at PAWS on wards Road. I was told three different things regarding the purchase of an animal and they still backed out of the deal. Strongly suggest that you shop elsewhere. Large dog crate they sell for $200 plus. Their competitor sells the same for $90. It's too bad because I really love the dog that I wanted. read more
