Secure the item and pick it up next time I'm out. Received my email from Petco.com saying my order was ready, and it such a simple process. Go in, show them the email on my phone, give my name, and voila - the item is pulled from their cabinet up front (very close to the front door and quick), and I am on my way. I only discovered it myself after picking her up. When you leave your pet in the care of a facility, you expect close supervision and immediate communication if something is wrong. Cherry eye is not something minor, it's a visible eye condition that requires attention, especially for breeds that are already prone to eye problems. The most concerning part of this situation was the lack of notification. As a pet owner, I should have been informed right away so I could make decisions about her care. Daycare staff are responsible for monitoring the dogs and reporting injuries or health concerns when they happen. That communication did not occur, and that breaks trust. I hope the facility improves its health monitoring and owner communication procedures, so this does not happen to another dog.
