Yay!! Whew!! We are so so careful with our much beloved pets from vets, groomers and especially diet. Bark of the Town truly " KNOW" how to cut and care for a dog on all levels. His neck and body received a " velvet" cut of 1/2 inch which they did with perfect evenness body wide- - rare to find. The guiding photo for the grow out was difficult to execute, but they did an excellent job. A 3-4 week photo of this cut will be provided soon below. All the vital services -- extruding of glands, teeth brushing, along with meticulous even excellent trimming top/ bottom are also done carefully. I am new to Florida, as a full-time-reverse snow bird, and was shocked to find SO many dog groomers who lacked training in styling a cut with good proportions and evenness. The receptionist ( maybe owner?) exuded the familiar long experienced aura of a well run grooming pet salon and I felt immediately at peace. But HOW our pet looks is extremely important, We look forward to them being as beautiful as is possible as we love and hug them. I shall remain with Bark of the Town a long time, and am glad I spent hours hunting, researching Yelp reviews and examining carefully all the photos. Photos say a LOT. Enjoy!

However, I wanted to point-out something that I hope someone else can benefit from. You should know ahead of time: There is a 15-pound weight limit for dogs, and, perhaps stick with just Stacy as your groomer. You can actually stop reading right there, because the rest of the review is simply sharing my observations. Based on Dogs of Venice reviews, I was excited to have Stacy groom my Maltese. When I called, she got back to me quickly. She was booked out, but said her daughter (with 2 years of experience) could groom and she (Stacy) would oversee the cut. I brought my dog in at the appointment time and met Stacy, who was a lovely person--it's no wonder she has so many good reviews. I handed Stacy my dog, chatted a little (about the cut and about my pup), and headed out. Shortly after I got home, I received a call to come back--my dog was apparently over the weight limit. Stacy explained she has back issues and did not want to injure herself. This seemed strange because 1. my dog weighed 13.5 pounds at the vet last Tuesday and 2. Stacy's daughter was supposed to be grooming my dog, rather than Stacy herself. There's really no sense in trying to debate it when someone calls you back to get your dog, right? And I certainly did not want anyone to hurt themselves. So I went back. Long story short, when I arrived to get my dog Heidi, Stacy was apologetic and her daughter was sitting on a chair on the other side of the room looking at the floor, with her ears covered. I don't know what that was all about--maybe the dogs barking--but she didn't get up or say anything or even look my way--which just felt odd and a little unprofessional. The moral of the story is--know they have a weight limit--it might be a good idea to ask them to weigh your dog at drop off if you think you're close--and perhaps most importantly, wait for availability so Stacy can groom your pooch.

We had finally found one in Sarasota who was amazing but she was taking time off. So on the search again. Saw work that Poo Bear had done on several dogs in our neighborhood. Our dogs go ready to be groomed which means we keep the brushing up 3 times a week, so no mats. We trim the ears and feet every two weeks. This means the boys go in looking ready for their styling and we are never disappointed. Now our Fashion pups are looking good with the help of Poo Bears.

Groomers haven't always trimmed his feet nor gotten his face right but here the feet & ears are so nice 'n neat and his face is beautiful! Body isn't choppy. Jennifer, the owner has always been polite. Dogs aren't caged like 90% of groomers and Rain Dogs offers a web cams. 2023 vs the Past: Often we can increase success by helping ourselves. Bring in a printed pic of your dog with notes or email it (a few days before)so you aren't taking up extra groomer time at drop-off. For the 1st time in history, we have a skilled labor shortage. Biz are still trying to accommodate to the demand. We can complain about the smallest details or understand a bit more. Otherwise learn a lot of new skill sets!
