I decided to tag along with him as we were in the process of running a few errands for our upcoming holiday. The place was very clean, (no stray hairs!) and it was quite presentable and the guy in charge was well mannered and polite - no fuss, just got straight to the job. It wasn't very busy, and I'm not sure how much custom they get, but I hope they get more because they did a great job and weren't expensive either.

Being a ginger as soon as my hair gets over a certain length it starts to glow and become a ginger fro so I need to keep it trimmed and until now I haven't had a barber who did such a good job in sheering it down as James at Skinny Isaac's. Before I get in to the cut itself, I must mention the decor and set up at SI's. The place oozes suave sophistication. The black and white tiled floor is a throwback to old school barber shops yet the wall murals and ornamental guitars create a modern feel. They've clearly taken a look back at everything that was good about traditional barbering and added the new modern modern twists to improve their craft. There's an airy feel to the second floor premises, sun light bathes the studio creating a really nice environment to relax in. One thing to note is that you'll have to make an appointment at SI's. They will be booked up mist days so make sure you call first thing to see if you can get a slot. They are also open Monday's (during Queens term time) which is a bonus. A haircut will set you back £16 - an absolute bargain once you experience the attention to detail each barber puts in to their work. All in all a five star service and a top notch hair cut. I won't be going anywhere else in the future!

Really great experience!…read more I have become a bit of a barbering nomad with no real regular place I go month to month so when I saw The Urban Barbers had opened on the Newtownards I thought I would give it a go. First up, let's talk about the decor. You'll immediately notice the awesome 'urban' murals on the the walls - Biggie and Tupac dominate the landscape. They also have snap back caps hanging on the walls and a flat screen showing all the latest UFC. It's a real mans paradise! Haircut wise it's great, the owner/barber is traditional with a modern twist and he seems to be able to do any style imaginable. They accept walk ins but if you're getting a design done it's best to book ahead. I walked in and was in the chair less than a minute after walking in! The cut itself was neat and tidy and only took around 20 minutes - perfect for your lunch break. My hair cost £9 which is a snip in the current climate! The owner told me of their ambitious plans to make The Urban Barbers somewhat of a man sanctuary offering a whole range of male treatments including the dreaded nose wax! So watch this space....loads more coming from these guys in the future!
