First of all - I have had SEVERE recession for many years. When I lived in FL, that made every…read moredental appointment painful and stressful. When I moved here I got "filling" - dental resin, in the very large pockets of rescission. That definitely helped the pain. I got braces and that got me flossing daily. Which always helps gum health, but then I started at Forest Park. Still PLENTY of sensitivity. Still difficult and painful at times. But they made ALL the difference. They have always used WARM water with cleanings and put the water on my tongue to ensure that the water wasn't cold or hitting my sensitive spots. But about 18 months ago I switched to a hydroxyapatite paste instead of "toothpaste." This really was helping with the condition of my teeth. But then Danielle, the hygienist, suggested I dry brush my gums to continue to improve my gum health. With doing that, on my last visit my LARGE rescission pockets went from 4mm to 3mm and they're SHRINKING because of the care that they've directed me to do I've always been very focused on ensuring that I have good dental health but Forest Park's team has REALLY improved my dental health. My boyfriend also goes to Forest Park. He has commented on how organized their administration is, how KIND and how easy they make billing and payment. He said that the office staff has made all the difference for him and he also appreciates their honesty. Because he has had some really bad dentistry and office administrator issues. Forest Park is upfront, honest and HELPFUL. There is literally NOTHING and no one there that could improve. They're wonderful in every way. I just wish the doggies were always there!! I came into Forest Dental Park with severe tooth pain, and initially I felt like my concerns were…read moretaken seriously. Dr. Bennet said there could be an infection and recommended a series of tests. I trusted that judgment and agreed, which resulted in a thousand+ dollars in exams and X-rays--none of which showed any issues. We ultimately decided on a nightguard. Months later, I returned for a cleaning and explained that while the pain had improved, I still had flare-ups and avoided chewing on that side. I was surprised when I was given the exact same speech about needing extensive testing again for a possible infection--despite having already gone through all of that with no findings. After doing my own research, it's clear my pain is likely from clenching while I sleep. The repeated push for more testing and the implication of an infection felt like a scare tactic. On top of that, I was placed on a periodontal maintenance plan (which is more expensive) with the understanding that I could eventually return to standard cleanings. After a few visits, my hygienist--who has been great--told me I was fine to go back to regular cleanings. However, management overruled that decision. What does management know about my teeth? The experience became overwhelming. I couldn't even finish my cleaning without crying, and I ended up paying and leaving in tears. No one followed up afterward--not a call, text, or email to check in. It's disappointing because my hygienist was wonderful, and honestly the main reason I stayed as long as I did. Unfortunately, the front desk staff is unfriendly, and it's nearly impossible to get an accurate quote from them. Also consumer beware of unethical charging practices that are not disclosed. Forest Park Dental Studio seems more focused on the bottom line than the actual patient. I will not be returning.

The entire office has never failed to be patient, kind, and helpful at each and every appointment. I think it is thanks to Dr. Pollard's approach to dentistry that I never associated going to the dentist with fear or distress, even as a child. I came back to Portland after university with worsened dental health (thanks to neglect on my part), and both Dr. Tom and Dr. Jill (as well as the entire clinic staff) have been nothing but patient and understanding with me as we work together on getting my teeth back to a good place. I've had a needle phobia most of my life and Christine kindly held my hand while I had to get my jaw numbed for the first of many fillings. My gratitude for that gesture still overwhelms me, even though everyone has done a wonderful job at helping me not fear the dreaded needles any longer! These days, I'm almost excited to go in for a cleaning, because I know I'll be surrounded by wonderful people with great humor and attitudes. Regardless of whether it's cleanings or problem treatments, I know that I'll always be in good hands with the Pollard family. She had developed severe anxiety from previous experiences at other offices and Dr. Pike patiently spent multiple sessions slowly reintroducing her to the office at first, then the chair, then the tools - eventually desensitizing her to dental procedures like cleaning. I would say he is a combination of a therapist/dentist/wizard! At every session, he and his team always took the time to make sure she was not feeling overwhelmed or scared. He worked with her to desensitize and reintegrate without the use of medications, so the process took longer for us and there were more frequent sessions, but our daughter has decided she is ready to move on. This saddens me, but also makes me happy to know that she has gotten over her fear of anything dental related because of someone like Dr. Pike. There truly is no one else like him. If you have any dental anxiety or sensitivity, he is who you should go to. Dr. Pike is one in a trillion! And if you have a gamer kiddo, his dog's name is Zelda.
