They cancel the appointment the following day due to a family emergency. I looked around and found San Marcos Vision Center. They got me in the same day. Everyone there was so pleasant to work with. Dr. Strum was very detailed in explaining everything to me. I would recommend San Marcos Vision Center with Dr. Strum to anyone I come across needing an eye doctor. I was treated so wonderfully by every single person in the office. The doctor explained so many things to me, answered all my questions, wasn't rushed, reached out and shook my hand when entering and leaving. The front of house staff were so friendly, the person that helped me pick my glasses was so patient and she took so much time explaining how my new progressive glasses would work, the costs. I cannot say enough how truly lovely this group is. Highly recommend!!

I broke my glasses, and needed to get new glasses and contacts ASAP. The lenses were fine, but the contact lenses were not at all what I needed. I was told that I had astigmatism but that it was not bad enough to get contact lenses for astigmatism. When I left, I noticed that I couldn't see road signs clearly at all, I couldn't read the computer screens at work, and struggled to read restaurant menus. I made a second appointment and the doctor gave me new contacts, but not for my astigmatism. I still couldn't see clearly and informed him that the letters were blurry. He told me to give these ones a couple of days, but I simply couldn't see. I went to another Optometrist in San Antonio who informed me that I did need lenses for astigmatism. She listened to me, allowed me to try multiple lenses, and gave me free cases and solution. The level of care I received with another provider was worlds apart from the Meinke Family Clinic. The fact that this doctor did not listen to my concerns and sent me off with lenses I could not see in is concerning, to say the least. The worst part is that my insurance only covers one visit a year, and so I had to pay for the visit with the other provider out of pocket. The receptionist was wonderful, however I would highly recommend finding another Optometrist. This business is really only concerned with getting you in and out, and not with the level of care a person receives. Which is a shame--the facility itself is quite modern and nice. I really wish I had a better experience.

The staff is equally outstanding: kind, personable, and incredibly helpful. The office itself is always clean and welcoming, which adds to the overall positive experience. This place also holds a special place in my heart. I used to bring my father here before he passed away from Alzheimer's last year. The compassion they showed him meant the world to me. I'll never forget the day we left an appointment and he turned to me and said, "I like them. They don't make me feel like a dummy." That moment still gets me. The ladies at the front desk were, kind, friendly and took care of us immediately. My appointment was at 2:20 and I was back in the initial testing room as soon as my paperwork was turned in. The Tech (my apologies for not asking her name so I could include it in the review) that took care of me was informative, professional and gentle as she did my tests. I saw Dr Waqar for the exam portion and he explained all my tests in detail and in a way I understood completely. Macular Degeneration runs in my family and he assured me my eye is healthy and showing no signs at this point. My blurry vision is age related as well and he will see me again if it gets worse in 6 months or no later than a year. All this to say, Dr. Waqar is knowledgeable, professional and on his game. I felt very confident in his taking care of me. My husband was very pleased as well, and Dr. Waqar helped him diagnose an issue with his eyes and sent him home with a a new remedy to try, with a follow-up in a month.
