I broke my glasses, and needed to get new glasses and contacts ASAP. The lenses were fine, but the contact lenses were not at all what I needed. I was told that I had astigmatism but that it was not bad enough to get contact lenses for astigmatism. When I left, I noticed that I couldn't see road signs clearly at all, I couldn't read the computer screens at work, and struggled to read restaurant menus. I made a second appointment and the doctor gave me new contacts, but not for my astigmatism. I still couldn't see clearly and informed him that the letters were blurry. He told me to give these ones a couple of days, but I simply couldn't see. I went to another Optometrist in San Antonio who informed me that I did need lenses for astigmatism. She listened to me, allowed me to try multiple lenses, and gave me free cases and solution. The level of care I received with another provider was worlds apart from the Meinke Family Clinic. The fact that this doctor did not listen to my concerns and sent me off with lenses I could not see in is concerning, to say the least. The worst part is that my insurance only covers one visit a year, and so I had to pay for the visit with the other provider out of pocket. The receptionist was wonderful, however I would highly recommend finding another Optometrist. This business is really only concerned with getting you in and out, and not with the level of care a person receives. Which is a shame--the facility itself is quite modern and nice. I really wish I had a better experience.

WARNING: Predatory billing, broken promises, and total corporate stonewalling--AVOID!…read more My wife visited the MyEyeDr on Hunter Road in San Marcos for a simple eye exam on November 22, 2025. We had no intention of getting glasses. Staff approached us unprompted and insisted we could get a free pair entirely covered by our Texas Star Medicaid. We chose specific frames based entirely on that promise. We left that day with an invoice showing a balance of zero dollars. However, three months later, out of the blue we received a $99 bill. Photos attached in case you don't believe us. What followed was worse than the bill itself. We contacted their office numerous times, over a week of unreturned, promised callbacks. Finally reached the "office manager" today on March 19, 2026, only to be told by him--who identified himself only as "Julio" and refused to provide his last name--that there was "absolutely nothing they can do," that we should contact an insurance company we can no longer reach, and--most remarkably--that we were "fired as patients" for having the nerve to dispute a charge resulting entirely from their staff's misrepresentation. We then called corporate billing. Same answer--go back to the local office that just fired you, or call the insurance company you can't reach. A perfect corporate runaround with nowhere to turn. We have the original invoice proving we were told we owed nothing. We came in for an exam. They recruited us into glasses with a promise of zero cost and put it in writing. Then billed us anyway. Then stonewalled us at every level. We are filing formal complaints with the Texas Health and Human Services Commission and the Texas Department of Insurance. A staff member during our original visit even asked us to leave a good review. Consider this our review.

Got my daughter checked in before her appointment which was at 3:30. I'd say around 3:15. Waited well over 45 minutes just to be seen. I did ask the front desk attendant if there was a long wait, she assured me there wasn't going to be because all the doctors were there today and they were moving patients pretty quickly. So we waited and they did the eye health tests within about 5-8 minutes. Took us to a room to wait for another 15 minutes to see the doctor. Doctor came in, didn't even apologize for having us wait so long & proceeded to do her exam. She finished her exam in about 9 minutes. We will be seeking another practice that does value your time and respects your scheduled appointment. I will not recommend this business to anyone. Please don't waste your valuable time here.

I was asked upon my entrance how I could be helped. I think the customer service here is a-okay! I have been dealing with a nasty rash/itchiness/skin peeling around my eyes for the past YEAR, and have seen four medical professionals (an MD, a PA, an FNP, and even an alternative medicine professional) who have not been able to figure out what the heck is going on. I've been treated with lotions, Vaseline, eye creams, and even herbal medicines. None of it worked. Within minutes of meeting Dr. Stanfield, he declared that it was an allergic dermatitis, and a specific steroid cream would fix it in a few weeks max. He wrote me a script, I picked it up the same day, and used it for a grand total of 2 days. Within TWO DAYS, the issue that has plagued me for a year went away and has not come back. For that I am immensely grateful and could not recommend this place more.

Welp, we're here again for my oldest son's annual eye exam and this front desk lady (one I've never…read moreseen before so she must be a new employee) told me I'd have to pay this fee, that fee etc even after my insurance and when I told her I didn't have all these fees last year, she went and spoke to someone in the back and then came back and said, "you're fine". She said I would have to pay a $50 "fitting fee" and then I'd have to pay between $55-$90 depending on whether or not he has a stigmatism (which he does in one of his eyes). That raises my eyebrows because how many other patients has she told this to and they didn't question or challenge her "fees" and they actually paid what she said they needed to pay? I swore the last time I was here that I was never coming back here but I decided to give them another chance. Now I'm doubting whether or not I made the right decision. We're getting the contact lenses from here this time but I'll be getting his prescription and we'll be going to Sam's Club for glasses. This visit is a total change from our first visit. We sat and waited on Dr. Sable for over 30 minutes and while waiting, they moved us from the room we were waiting in, into a different room where we had to continue to wait for her to come in. She didn't wash her hands when she came in the room which is a huge red flag to me especially with her being a Doctor. HThe last time, the customer service was excellent from the front counter ladies to the assistant who assists the doctor to the actual doctor. This time, its garbage!!! Update: today, (6/4/18) I brought my oldest in for his yearly eye exam and I scheduled an eye exam for my 9 year old as well. My oldest has astigmatism and wears contacts and glasses so I knew what new to expect for his exam but I found out that my 9 year old is near sighted. Today, we saw Dr. Stanfield and I'm so happy we did! He is so freaking awesome with kids. My 2 year old was fussy when he walked in the room because he wanted to sit in the Dr.'s spinning rolling chair. Guess what happened!! Dr. Stanfield picked him up and let him sit in the chair with him while he examined my 9 year old. He loved it. He sat so calmly and observed everything! Both my oldest and 9 year old absolutely LOVED their visit today! He gave my oldest son some valuable advice about school and life in general. He gave all of my boys hugs before leaving the room and that let them know he genuinely cares for them! They're looking forward to their next appointment with him. I will request him from now on because seeing him today definitely put this locally back on my list of favorite optometrists. The front desk ladies were awesome today as well!!

I came in for a routine physical, as I recently received health insurance for the first time in 10 years (God bless America). Mossburg discussed my health in an intelligent and friendly manner with laptop in hand, taking detailed notes. At first, I was caught off guard by her incessant typing while maintaining steady eye contact and asking thoughtful questions. I appreciated it afterwards, though, as she leaves you with a thorough report of your condition along with the steps taken and those recommended. If you get any lab work done, she also leaves a detailed recorded message on a coded phone system thing that you call in to hear your results. Very cool and convenient. The office isn't new or fancy but tries with the faux wood flooring and Pier 1 wall art. Forget the office--good doctors are hard to find, and Mossburg's a good one.
