However, he talks so fast and assumes you understand everything he is saying at warp speed, I rarely know what he is saying about problems, treatments, etc. When you ask him to slow down or ask questions, he appears annoyed. He makes lots and lots of referrals for procedures (which he assures you he knows how to do, but would prefer you go elsewhere) and his referrals are in distant locations (CT, Harriman, etc.)-for folks in pain and with limited time constraints, this is impractical. Surely there are specialists in the MIddletown area who offer these services. His office staff is a nightmare. They lie, plain and simple. They will tell you whatever it takes to get you in the office, and then say "oh, she should not have told you that, we cannot do that, or that is not what she said" and make you think you are nuts. Gaslighting. Dentistry is expensive and I understand some of the reasons why. A good dentist is worth their fee. Dr. O'Brien charges more than average, in my experience, and not where I am going to spend my healthcare dollars.

This place is the best and most advanced dental center. They specialize in implants. I wish I had known about them earlier. all the staff starting from the front desk to the dental assistants are all so wonderful and accommodating. You can tell they all get along well and are like a well oiled machine. I hated going to the dentist but their technique as well as equipment make the dental experience so much comfortable and calming. I like the mouthpiece they use during the procedure. its actually calming white noise and drowns out the drilling. it also doesnt dry out your mouth and doesnt feel like you are drowning on your own saliva. I also appreciate that they explain in detail the plan of care so everyones on the same page. I recommend them 100%!! I also was impressed for my very young daughter. every single time she went to the dentist to get a simple cleaning, she would cry and end up throwing up. it was awful but when i brought her to middletown dental associates, she was actually able to get a FULL cleaning done and said she loves the dentist. They added on a lot of extra charges for exams and office visits and x-rays, but these were never mentioned on the phone. I have a regular dentist, I just went to him for an extraction. I really didn't need an exam, and only needed 1 tooth x-rayed. Funny though, when I put a claim in to my insurance company a week or two later, the charge was only $360 and they only got paid $270. My share, according to the claim was $90, but they only refunded me the $270 that the insurance company paid them. If I had been able to use my insurance from the start I would have paid $90, but because I had to file a claim a week or two later I ended up paying twice as much. I pointed out the mistake and asked them to fix the error, but they refused. What kind of professional office has to steal from their patients??? The quality of the work was not up to par either. He jammed in the novacaine, then the tooth next to the extraction started hurting. Less than 2 weeks later it broke. I had no problem with that tooth before I visited here! All in all, I'll pass on this office from now on!!!

This is our family dentist. It's a large office with several dentists, dental hygienists and other…read moredental professionals. So as you can imagine you will find all your dental needs at this office. We find that the doctors at this office do a really good job with cavities, teeth cleaning, etc. I've had another barbaric dentist from another town over leave me with a bad bite from a terrible cavity fill and this office was able to help me with correcting that. My family gets regular dental check-ups here and cleanings. The office is very large, clean, neat and even has it's own finance department to help you understand the costs that you will incur which I really like this way nothing is a surprise. They give you the option to decide if you can afford the services and/or arrange some kind of payment option. The only thing I don't like about the office is that the doctor's are always trying to up sell another service or recommending something that may not be of urgency. If they could they would probably keep us visiting them on a regular basis. Otherwise we really like this dental office and the doctors. A++

When I called to schedule an appointment, I mentioned I didn't need the x-rays assuming that it wouldn't matter anyway ("as needed"). Was told that the coupon would not be honored and I would have to pay $95 for the cleaning. Oh. Okay...I schedule the appointment anyway. A day goes by. I think about it. Why would I have to pay more for doing less? I called back and explained that I didn't need the x-rays and that it didn't make sense to charge me more for doing less than what is listed on the coupon. The receptionist Lauretta insisted I would need to do the x-rays as part of the comprehensive exam. I explained again- no cavities ever, no need for X-rays. Don't want the radiation. She wouldn't budge- no x-rays no coupon...so I cancelled my appointment. Was genuinely surprised that they wouldn't want a new customer simply because I didn't want more radiation blasted at me unnecessarily. No cavities, no pain, no need. Disappointing interaction and if they're that sketchy about honoring the coupon, I wouldn't want to deal with them anyway. Go figure.

I'm still finding that years after my treatment it was a huge waste of money. My one tooth has…read morebegun to shift back to the position that prompted me to attempt correction. The permanent retainer hurts my tongue and there suggestion of wearing my "night guard" during the day is ridiculous. As well, a new tooth has begun to shift back to its original place as the night guard does nothing to protect it. A third tooth has now shifted and is causing a dental issue that needs to be addressed. Pachter took a good chunk of money from me, promised results when the results weren't delivered pushed it on me for not doing things correctly and then on the program not being able to predict patterns and having to be adjusted to just not helping at all because I signed that I accepted treatment was over. Be very aware of stubborn teeth, future results and discrepancies in the treatment plan and do not be guilted into having them recreate trays or replace attachments that they prematurely take off. Had Pachter not attempted to avoid losing money because the computer didn't predict the way my teeth would move, perhaps my smile would not be reverted back to the place it was when I first saw them. Had they took the time to re-assess as well as not cared what it would cost them to fix the issue after I paid for their service, I may have turned out like the other success stories. Be aware as your teeth can place you into the same position I am in. For your sake I hope not, but if you are considering using them - find a different practitioner as they are not about the end result and success of all patients.
