Then I found Herbert Sherbert. The website was colorful, included many pictures of the performer without clown make-up (which, lets face it, clown make-up is very creepy) and he genuinely looked like a children's show character, and it was only $60 for a half-hour show. (The rate per hour drops for longer shows) He also advertises on the website that he has a police-check certificate available if you want to see it. I didn't ask for it, but the fact that he is willing to bring it up like that made me more comfortable hiring him. The description of his act on his website included magic tricks, songs, jokes, and a puppet, and he delivered, thoroughly. We actually had many more adults than children, and we were all laughing so hard, it was very easy to enjoy his routine. Even our more reserved family members were cracking up. He tried to call the children by name when speaking to them, he was very friendly, and very patient when the 3 and 4 year olds were trying to see what else he had in his wagon, and he was extremely energetic the entire time. The kids loved him. He will definitely be getting repeat business from me.

I run a preschool and have been renting items for events for the past 14 years. This was the first…read moretime and last time using Train Quest. I emailed the week of to confirm the date and received no response. I then called the day before the event and Phillis apologized and said they would be here. They were supposed to arrive at 9am today to set up and start the event at 9:30am. Phillis called at 9am saying they were running 24 minutes late. The address says they are only 34 minutes away so I was confused on why they were almost 30 minutes late. I should have read reviews on Google and Yelp prior to booking. It looks like they have a history of being late to events. :( Upon arrival, Phillis apologized and said they can stay late to make up the time. Unfortunately, my preschoolers are on a schedule. We have lunch time, naptime, etc. The train arrived in pieces on the back of a pick up truck. Once they put it all together it seemed they had trouble getting it started. At some point Phillis left. She didn't tell me she was leaving nor did she introduce the 2 gentleman that stayed. The 2 men that assisted with the train hardly spoke English. One stood under a tree on his phone during parts of the event. The driver drove SO fast the first time we had to ask him to slow down. There are no seatbelts or bars to keep the children safe on the train. The driver didn't even have mirrors to see the passengers. **PLEASE add rear view mirrors to your train so the driver can see the passengers behind and know when to stop or slow down.** The train worked after the first 2 groups then died. Our next class had to wait in the heat until they got it started again...but thank goodness it started! I shortened the train ride event and we ended early. I only know of 2 trackless train companies in Austin. I will go back to the company we've use in the past.
