I saw Dr. Peter A. Ternus, DPM for the first time today and found him to be engaging, patient in answering questions, and direct but with kindness. I am glad l was referred to him by my PC. I've never had to see a podiatrist before in my 55 years of life but I am reassured now that l am in his care for neuropathy in my legs and feet. The office staff are very efficient, helpful, and understanding as I am new to the area, even with GPS I still got confused with all the medical buildings around SL Hospital. All of my foot care has gone well: good communication, care, follow-up by dr and staff.

Dr. Ternus and his staff are wonderful. He's a kind and patient doctor. I always feel that he listens to me. I never feel rushed. Dr. Ternus suggests different ways to help me vs one solution. His office staff is so professional and organized. They're also friendly and polite. Finally, I had an appointment recently and a medical student was there, training with Dr. Ternus. I observed how well he explained things to her and encouraged her questions. I highly recommend this doctor and his team! read more

A foot dr at Driftwood Skilled nursing center cut the tips of my toes when she cut my nails . I asked a friend for the name of some one to help. Dr T. Saw everything and knew what to do immediately felt pain removed. Lovely experience and magic healing read more

Dr. Peter Ternus has been taking care of my feet since 2010 and there has been a lot of necessary care For my feet. During that time I broke my left foot and a few years later then broke my right foot. Dr Ternus's has a state of the art X-ray machine providing immediate imaging of breaks etc. which expedited care and in each instance I walked out the door in a boot and was well on my way to healing. I require regular visits for maintenance and removal of calluses that form from bunions. (One day when it's necessary Dr Ternus will perform surgery to remove my bunions. but, I'm not there there, yet.) Dr. Ternus also makes specialized orthotics for me utilizing a method of making a cast of my feet to ensure the orthotics are exact to my feet and adds the prescriptive materials to ensure my feet are supported and comfortable for walking, standing and running. (So much better than off shelf with a fraction of the size off and no prescriptive materials and or arch supports to address your needs!) Dr Ternus's business is feet! I can still remember my first visit to the office and my feet were in bad shape from calluses and a lack of proper professional care. I had put off seeing a doctor because I was nervous about someone messing with my feet. That nervousness went away immediately when I met Dr Ternus. He's kind, has a since of humor, and knows what he doing. The staff from the front desk to the nurses are also kind and knowledgeable. They'll take care of you and your feet. Dr. Ternus, (& staff) thank you for my happy feet!! read more

Extremely professional staff and the doctor is very knowledgeable and engaging with patients! Highly recommended!

I appreciate Dr. Ternus' attentive patient care. He explained things to me well, gave me his professional opinion, options i can incorporate now, and advice on what to do if things didn't improve. I came to him out of network and paid cash as i was so dissatisfied with my regular care provider. The visit was well worth it to me. I wish every visit with a doctor could be like this one. read more

Peter is a great Doctor. The foot care is excellent. It is both affordable and enjoyable. Dr. Ternus feels more like a friend than a podiatrist. He is easy going and friendly. We chat about travel- auto racing- food.... He makes you feel very comfortable and relaxed. His assistants are also wonderful. My wife and I get our nails clipped there every 4 months or so- we look forward to our care at East Bay Foot Clinic and always leave with 'Happy Toes'!!!! read more

I am so happy to have found Dr. Ternus!! What an amazing doctor!! He was so kind and patient with my adult son! My son had to have a toenail removed years ago and it was a very bad experience. Needless to say he was nervous and scared when he had to have another nail removed. Dr. Ternus made us both laugh with his great humor and was VERY gentle and explained everything he was doing. My son was actually shocked when it was over, asking "that's it?! You're done?! I DIDN'T FEEL A THING"!!!! What a different experience!!!! The staff is very kind and friendly as well!! We highly recommend Dr. Ternus!!!!! read more

I had bunion surgery 9 yrs ago and Dr Nelson and Dr Ternus did an excellent job. I decided I need the same surgery for the other foot. Dr Ternus was friendly, courteous and answered all my questions. In Feb I will have the surgery. read more

I needed a second opinion for a painful toe and made an appointment to see Dr. Ternus. My original podiatrist recommended trying over the counter supportive shoes and insoles. But when that didn't help, he suggested surgery. I showed Dr. Ternus the xray from the first podiatrist and let him know my situation. He examined my foot and made some modifications to the insole and said to try it out for about a month. That didn't help, so he decided on making some custom orthotics. After wearing the custom orthotics for about two months, the toe pain went away. Now it's been almost ten months without any pain and I'm gradually getting back to wearing regular shoes again! read more

The best podiatrist in the Bay Area! I can't say enough about him but he's been the most knowledgeable and professional aside from the nicest doctor I and my family has ever had experience with. I also have a Kaiser insurance but would not use it in terms of specialty like podiatry. Dr. Ternus can even see you the same day you ask for an appointment! They do the X-ray right in their office which is very convenient. Ask him questions and he finds time to sit and talk to you about your condition with professionalism and excellent knowledge! Staff are also very accommodating. For foot problems, come to this humble and well-educated surgeon! read more

Went back to Doctor Ternus this week for further treatment for my foot. As always Dr. Ternus was polite and explained everything well. I took my wife with me the last time, this was her first time meeting him, without prompting her as to how I felt about the doctor she when on about how he is very good and through. When we switched our medical insurance in January we made sure his practice was still an option for us before making our final decision. Bottom line. If you need any type of medical assistance in podiatry, you'd can be sure to get the help you need here. I highly recomend Dr. Ternus. read more

Words cannot express how thankful I am for Dr. Ternus. I came in not knowing what the cause of my foot pain was. I told Dr. Ternus my symptoms and 2 minutes later he was able to identify what the cause was. I had a gout flare up. Dr Ternus proceeded to educate me about gout, the reasons why, the treatments and even went as far as explaining everything in thorough detail. He is not the ordinary doctor who rushes to get you out of their office. I told Dr. Ternus my situation with my insurance coverage. He was not pushy on trying to get me to burn money on uncessary X-Rays or MRIs. However I was able to tell him my situation with my crappy insurance coverage and he was generous enough to cut me some slack. There arent many decent Doctors in San Leandro, if you're like me I often drive to the city or Fremont just to find someone worth going to. Dr. Ternus is definitely someone you can trust. Its a shame that he does not have more reviews than this. read more

I feel humbled and privileged for having had such an amazing doctor like Dr. Ternus taking care of my podiatric needs. Dr. Ternus is a professional and truly fine surgeon. At the same time he is also like your best friend that is concerned about your welfare. He goes above and beyond his duties to assure you that he is there to take care of you. He also makes sure that you are comfortable throughout the process and truly happy when everything is complete. Dr, Ternus performed a remarkable surgery on my foot. After surgery, I needed follow up treatments. I came to the office between appointments and he always took care of me with such true caring and patience. Dr. Ternus has an incredible soothing manner that makes even the most nervous patient feel welcome and calm. I most definitely recommend Dr. Ternus. He is truly amazing! read more

What can you say about an absolutely wonderful and talented doctor? Well, here is what I say... After having several surgeries at the hands of doctors who were not quite up to the task of taking my dogs temperature, I was referred to Dr. Ternus. Not having been able to walk barefooted for about four years, because of afore mentioned doctors, Dr. Ternus took a few x-rays and saw what the problem was. He scheduled my surgery for Feb 2018 and by April 2018 I was walking on bare feet again. He has proven to be THE best podiatrist I have ever been to and believe me I've been to many. I am so thankful that I was referred to him and so greatful for what he has given back to me. I just wish I had found him sooner. He will be my 'go to' doc for as long as he is around and would recommend him with the highest of regard and besides, he's just a fantastic and funny guy. read more

I recently switched to seeing doctor Ternus. I'm very happy with him and his staff. He's kind and professional. Thank you.

I went into Dr. Ternus' office nervously thinking I would need surgery on my ankle. Dr. Ternus calmly wiped away my concern, took some really clear x-rays with his fancy x-ray machine, made specific suggestions on insoles for my shoes and even told me which shoes to wear in the house. He taught me about my feet and posture and how to best take care of myself to alleviate the pain. He was kind, funny, and really on his game. Months later my ankle pain is GONE, all without costly surgery and unnecessary treatment. Thank you, Dr. Ternus! read more

I suffered with a foot ulcer for over six months - tried everything with my regular podiatrist - until he referred me to his colleague and friend. Dr. Ternus recognized the problem immediately and made arrangements to treat it as quickly as possible. He had me scheduled for a simple outpatient procedure within a week's time. While the wound took a little longer to heal than any of us anticipated, the fact is IT HEALED!!! Dr. Ternus explains everything in layman's terms, offers you options and let's you make an informed decision. He had a great sense of humor despite the seriousness of my condition and made me feel very comfortable in his capable hands. When it comes to doctor-patient relationships, he is personable, approachable, thorough and very kind. read more

Dr. Ternus is my hero! After suffering from an ingrown big toenail thru the weekend, I called Dr. Ternus' office for an appointment and was able to be seen the next day. Dr. Ternus and his partner, Dr. Nelson, repaired my ankle. Technically, the retinaculum ligament was reattached and an "accessory tendon" was removed in the channel reserved for the peroneal tendons. It's been almost 13 weeks since the surgery, and I've been walking for about 3 weeks without any assistance or devices. While there is continuing physical therapy as expected, the repair is as good as it gets. Dr Ternus initially diagnosed the problem (dislocated peroneals) and provided a brace so I could finish my athletic schedule before surgery. He is careful to answer every question and one never gets the feeling of being rushed during an office visit. The office staff is competent, courteous, and efficient. I did not meet Dr Nelson, who was the extra pair of hands during the surgical procedure. Kudos to the San Leandro surgery center where the operation was done. The anesthesiologist took pictures and showed them to me during the op - I was heavily sedated and had a nerve block, but conscious. I highly recommend Dr Ternus as a DPM. read more
