One doctor sent us home with a cream and told us to scrape the wart before applying it. The other froze the wart so poorly that it left part of his finger covered in a painful blister. I always read reviews before choosing a doctor, so I was hesitant to try another dermatologist. I'm so glad we came to Miami Center of Dermatology. From the moment we walked in, Isabella greeted us with kindness and made us feel welcome. Ashley, our dermatologist, truly listened and took the time to explain everything. She told us the wart was much deeper than the previous doctors had realized and explained why the other treatments were never going to work. She carefully removed it by scraping it out. At our two-week follow-up appointment, the wart was completely gone! This was one of the best medical experiences we've had. The staff was caring, knowledgeable, and efficient. First, we were placed in a room that was extremely warm, around 80 degrees. I was there for my yearly checkup, and my 19-year-old son was there for an acne evaluation. The medical assistant came in after a few minutes for the intake, then gave me an exam gown and asked me to change (while my son was still in the rooms!) Before she left, I mentioned that the room was very warm and that I was starting to feel unwell. She explained that the three large machines in the room produced a lot of heat and tried to move us to another room. However, the PA came in and said not to worry because the appointment would be quick. She saw my son first. I felt that she was very dismissive and lacked empathy regarding his previous experience with acne treatment. When I asked what would be considered a serious side effect of Accutane besides a severe purge and joint pains, she responded, "Only if you see that he's having a hard time walking." Given his previous experience, I was hoping for a more thorough discussion of the potential side effects and our concerns. When it was my turn to have my yearly examination, I felt very rushed. I was not given an opportunity to change into the gown, and the examination did not feel as thorough as I expected for an annual checkup. I got to show her my main concern which was my birthmark, later a small sun spot on my face.... I had other several skin concerns I wanted to show her but I felt rushed so I didn't get to. I told her I had some skin tags I wanted to have removed. She said, "Sure, I'll let you know how much that will be since insurance doesn't cover it." She then left the room, and I never saw her again. The medical assistant later returned, k told her again the room was too hot... she was nice and told us to follow her to another room. She gave me the iPLEDGE paperwork and a list of products the PA recommended, including several products sold in the office for rosacea. I reminded the assistant about the skin tag removal, and she said she had forgotten and would bring me the pricing. At that point, I just wanted to leave. Overall, I felt rushed, unheard, and disappointed with the lack of communication and empathy. Perhaps the fact that our appointment was at 11:45 a.m. had something to do with everyone being in a hurry to leave for lunch, but regardless, that should not affect the quality of care a patient receives. Unfortunately, this was a terrible experience, and we will not be returning to this office.

I'd been lucky to have had a truly amazing doctor back in the Windy City and he took care of everything from checking my skin for disease to making sure I stayed easy, breezy and beautiful to consulting me about life. I left his office with one small issue but I think the cure isn't worth the risk so i am going to soldier through for now. But, this is all preamble. i went from having to worry about dry, cracked skin conditions to burnt, cancerous, moley conditions. And, none of that would do. Since I didn't move to Miami with any doctors, I had to use Yelp in an old-school way: I needed to find a doctor. Luckily, a trusted Elite had written a review about Dr. G and being satisfied with her writing, skin and opinion, I followed suit. I'm very glad I did. First off, the office is in South Miami. This is a good thing. You know the ladies who lunch in South Miami and the Gables are not about to go around looking busted so derm practices in the area have to be on point. Secondly, Dr. G really is as nice, engaging, trustworthy, and skilled as reputed. Like I mentioned, I left a favored dermatologist in Chicago but I felt pretty instantly connected to Dr. G. She spoke of my skin history, asked all the right questions, brainstormed about the issues that concerned me most and -- greatest of all -- she listened with real empathy. For any doctor, this is HUGE and, unfortunately, some are missing this skill. Dr. G has it in spades. Her office is modern, relaxing and very cool. Her staff is efficient and pleasant and she has all sorts of cool machines that do incredible things. Four stars for now. She's pretty incredible but my Chicago doc cured/cleared something I was told could never go away and helped to give me my life back. That's a pretty high standard to meet (and I hope to never again have to have it met). Over time, though, I'm sure Dr. G's bedside manner, intelligence, grace, and intuition will bump this up to a five. I have no hesitation in recommending her to anyone.
