I had the pleasure of meeting Peter Max at his office. The building across the street from the MET is a very unassuming place. Once you walk into the building and take the tiny elevator to his floor, you must be buzzed in first. Once inside, security cameras are everywhere with good reason.
While walking around his nice sized studio, he had very famous paintings of people such as Reagan, Jagger, etc. All sizes and shapes of paintings were everywhere including a large cow. The prices of his work ranged from $1,300 to $60,000. I thought before going in, I would like to buy a painting but were very much out of my price range. He does not play around.
I had my camera in hand to take pictures but was not allowed to. Unfortunately, Peter was talking with some people so I did not talk to him more.
Somehow, someway if someone is able go go to his studio, it is a must see. read more
