Just this morning battled through the rain to get my hair cut in peter mark grafton street. I had my appointment with the lovely Lauren, I have said before and I'll say it again the girl is fabulous. She coloured my hair 4 months ago, today just a cut, but she is so good at doing my highlights that after the cut it was not only fab, but you would think i had only them done today. Delighted as always. All the staff in grafton are lovely, there is a great atmosphere and the cliental are of all ages, so an old codger like me doesn't feel out of place. Never again. what a rip off! Asked for half a head of highlights which is generally 40 packets. I got 24 packets today and barely feel like there's any change. I've been going to Peter Mark at a few locations for years and have always been relatively satisfied as it's hard to mess up half a head of highlight. applying mesh and colour normally takes about 45mins on my hair and i generally receive about 40 packets so my head is heavy and loaded with mesh. Application took 20mins today and I counted 22 packets. I asked for more and got 4. I feel ripped off. Lesley my stylist was adamant I had enough but I have so much root still visiblE. no discount offered even though they knew I was unhapp. €120 later and now I'm off to get them redone at a different salon. Never again Peter Mark, you have lost a customer. Disgusted with your miserable service. read more

Occasionally, they send the Peter Mark juniors out onto Grafton Street to get passers-by to let them practice on their heads. Everyone thinks they are chuggers (charity muggers), so it can take some time before they get a willing volunteer. I know one such soldier and she came out looking lovely, no pink barnet or crooked fringe at all. I personally have been in and paid full whack, and it is a fine experience, reasonably priced and you just really go in, tell them what you want to do and they do it. read more

I will qualify my bad review of this Peter Mark by saying I have not been there in a long long time and they could have improved. The last time I was at this Peter Mark was also the day I gave up on highlights. I was downstairs for two hours in what seemed to be an empty salon with papers considerately placed over my face and nothing to do but wait and hope none of the chemicals got in my eyes. After some time someone noticed me.. it appeared the girl who put my highlights in went home without telling anyone I was there. Another hour was spent with someone else trying to remove the now too dryed out papers from my hair and it hurt like hell. I could see they were all trying to remain calm and hoping I wouldn't throw a strop. I didn't complain and I should have, but they should have pre-empted me anyway and not charged me. Anyway they charged me full price for those 3 torturous hours of my life I'm not going to get back... I never got highlights again and I never went back to this Peter Mark! read more

I had been looking for a new hair salon, after the one I'd been going to closed. I'd tried a few other places in town, and to be honest was not that impressed with the cut and/or service. I tried this place after getting a recommendation from a friend to go see Barry. When I called to book in, the staff were very friendly and informative. Unfortunately, the day of my appointment Barry was sick; however, the staff called first thing that morning to offer an appointment with another stylist at the same time, or to rebook with Barry. I chose to stick with Barry and came in the following week. When I arrived, I was promptly greeted, my coat was taken, and I sat down on the couch. I was a little early so I was happy to wait. Within a couple minutes Barry came over, introduced himself to me and took me back to his chair. I explained the cut I wanted, and he gave me some advice as to what he thought would work well. I'm always happy with stylists when they do this, because to be honest I don't always know what I want to do with my hair or what will look good. Once the plan was set, he took me over and washed my hair. My god... I wish he could come over and wash my hair all the time; the scalp massage I got at the same time was AMAZING. Once the hair was squeaky clean, we went back to the chair and got down to business. I know some people like or dislike when their hair stylist chats to you. I personally love it, and you could tell he was feeling me out as to if I felt like talking or not. We had some great conversations, but not so much so that he was distracted from what he was doing. At the end, he asked how I'd like it blow-dried and did a fantastic job. My hair looks great, and is full of bounce. Unfortunately, storm henry kind of messed up my 'do as I went out the door, but that doesn't matter because now I love my hair all over again! Will definitely be back! read more

I've been there recently, two times. On both occasions I had a shampoo+ blow dry. They were very kind, professional and fast. They also offered me a nice cup of tea. Alright, maybe their prices are not the cheapest in Dublin, but they are even open on Sundays and they are very centrally located. I would definitely come back! read more

I love going to Peter Marks on Grafton Street as I am always treated like royalty. From the consultation where the amazing hair stylists and colourists give you all the options and advice, to the massage chairs, coffee and wonderful treatments on offer. Love my new hair cut, it was a completely new look and i am constantly being complimented for how great it looks.... Would love to say it was all me but i have a vague idea of what it would actually look like had i have attempted it hehe. I felt like it was finished in no time but that doesn't mean no frills. Although I only stopped in for a consolation and allergy test, the staff was super friendly and helpful. They took me back right away and the stylist that I had a consultation with was extremely engaging and seemed to connect with me and understand what I wanted. She explained the process that I'd need to go through to get my hair to the desired colour, and the style that I wanted with the cut. She even gave me the cost upfront so I wouldn't be left with any surprises when I go to check out the day of my hair appointment. I never complain or write bad reviews, but my experience here was horrible. I left angry and thought I would get over it, but I am still angry. I went in with a nice hair cut and colour that was 3 months grown out. I needed my roots touched up and a trim. When making the appointment the girl was asking what I wanted done. I explained to her what my hair currently looked like (quite long, simple hair cut, with very natural looking balayage through the ends). I explained that I just needed the root dyed and a trim. I went in for the appointment. The salon was about 1/2 full on a Saturday afternoon on the weekend before New Years Eve. Bad sign already. I took a seat with my 20 year old 'colour specialist'. She had been told i wanted balayage as well. It wasn't what I had asked for over the phone. But in that moment, I figured I may as well get a few more lighter pieces painted into what I had as long as it looked natural. The price I was quoted over the phone was then changed, and then changed again...AND THEN CHANGED AGAIN! Despite be annoyed by their lack of professionalism, I figured at this point I may as well just let them get on with things. The 'colour specialist' was wearing a ill-fitting clothes including a belly top for starters. Weird/unprofessional. She asked me what I wanted and listened to none of it. She had to ask other stylists around her for help/advice several times while working on my hair. I watched her put in the balayage and thought 'what in the world is this girl doing?!' She was pulling the highlights all the way up to my roots. My hair is waist-length with my pre-existing LOVELY balayage only starting at my shoulders. What this girl was doing was not natural looking, but I figured it was too late and I would just keep quiet and see what the result was. It was hideous. I could have done a better job of it. The random pieces that she highlighted did not even process correctly. It was extremely blonde at the root and then faded towards the tip. SO WRONG ON SO MANY LEVELS! I felt like I was in a beginners hair school. She came by to check on me when my hair had been blow dried/mid hair cut. This is when I realised the extent of the hair colour mishap. She said nothing of her obvious poor job. As I separated my hair to view the damage, the girl cutting my hair gave me a knowing look and sent me back downstairs to have it fixed. Guess who came down to 'fix' it. THE SAME GIRL. I couldn't believe it. I was furious. She sloppily covered her hideous work with the hair colour used on my roots. While she did this she slopped some dark dye onto my pre-existing light ends. Some nice little dark drips to add a uniquely ugly twist to a ridiculous hair experience. In the end, I ended up with my roots covered, half of a hair cut (never did finish the job because I had to have the colour 'fixed') and now I have a random blonde streak at the back of my head (that she missed while 'fixing' my hair) and drip marks in my pre-existing balayage. I refused to pay the €200 for this. I complained. There was no manager to speak to. I had the joy of speaking to the colour expert. Who told me that I was being insulting to her. I never received any form of apology. Bottom line - I left feeling taken advantage of. I still had to pay €170 for worse hair than when I came in. Now I have to pay someone else to fix it. The stylist were not qualified to be doing anyones hair. The receptionist was rude. The colour expert was missing the plot entirely. But I suppose this is why their salon is so empty. Sad. read more

First and last time going to this hairdresser. Normally I go to Grafton Barbers which is in my opinion is the best barbers in the country for men. I get haircuts there, full head of highlights quite often and hot towel shaves and after trying hairdressers and barbers all over the country the only place to go is Grafton Barbers they do exactly what you ask for and don;t try to take short cuts. I had to go to Peter Marks recently as I was caught for time and they were the only barber open late which is in a way is a great idea and indeed shows that they are just interested in making money and nothing else. I went in there and found them completely uninterested in what I wanted the hairdressers kept talking crap pretending I was getting the best style ever doing it her way and not my way. I now have to go to Grafton barbers to get my style redone as what I asked to be done was not done. I thought having such a big name they would perhaps give me a better style then Grafton Barbers but alas it wasn't to be and I was left extremely disappointed. I will never be returning again to Peter Mark. For as long as it stays open and I want hairsytles I will be going to Grafton Barbers Sorry PeterMark your just not up to my standard at all and certainly for the price I paid I would expect so much more from you guys. read more

I have been going to Peter Mark for almost 3 years now. The overall experience is nice and the staff tends to be thoughtful and friendly. However, the main attraction, ie. the way they do my hair, is not so great. I have a very big issue with the way they do my colour. Since my first time in Peter Mark I have brought in pictures, gone through colour swatches and made it very clear the colour I want (light copper). I have also made it very clear that I don't want red on my hair. I want my colour to look more natural and cherry red is definitely not what I'm going for. However, that's the colour I get. every. single. time. They even called in their colour specialist to talk to me and I have made it very clear. I DO NOT want red on my hair, I want copper. And yet, here I am, sporting my cherry red hair. I always leave the salon very upset and disappointed with my colour. And whenever I mention this they always say "Oh, but the colour will open in a few weeks!". Well, that's all very nice, but what I would really like would be to leave the salon (after paying 100€ for colour and a blow dry) with the colour I want, not a colour that may or may not look like the colour I want in a few weeks, when my roots are showing again! I'm really not impressed with this and it may very well be the last time I visit Peter Mark. read more

Extremely disappointing experience at this location. I had previously visited a Peter Mark in Galway while on a trip to Ireland and had a good experience so I booked an appointment for a blowout at this Peter Mark on Grafton street when I returned to Ireland less than a year later. When I arrived for my appointment and she discovered I have a light amount of bonded hair extensions I was informed they would not do a blowout service. When I asked why she told me they could not be liable if they pulled one out since they didn't do the extensions. I told her I didn't care if one came out but she insisted they would not do my hair. The manager came out and very unapologetically told me I needed to go somewhere else as they would not do it. When I explained I was very frustrated having paid 25 Euro for a car ride to get to the appointment and that they should tell people on the phone this policy she said it was my fault for not mentioning I had hair extensions. I've had blowouts all over the world including at a Peter Mark preciously in Ireland and have never had this issue. Very poor customer service as I had to scramble to find somewhere else to get my hair done and wasted half of my day intended to be sight seeing. read more

I recently had my first experience and the last one for sure in Peter Mark's on Grafton Street, and I must say...it wasn't the experience I was expecting it, considering the reviews I had already read on this particular salon. After booking an appointment by telephone and asking for a stylist that is more professional by working with short hair....think now looking back that I got the Non professional one. I asked just for shaping up a bit my hair and I ended up with most of my hair cut and not as I was expecting to have it cut. I always go for a short funky fringe, what my stylist gave me is asking on what side I wear my hair usually and then she got a sort of blade and chopped my hair on the side I required. I waited in that chair for other techniques to improve the cut of my fringe maybe some other scissors....it never happen, just a chopped fringe I got left which is not even equal, I need to use big quantity of hair spray in order to make this chopped fringe to behave, because of the shape it was cut, other hair is coming down on my forehead which it doesn't belong there. Anyway, the experience was terrible and very pricy, 60 Euros for a haircut (short hair) and by the way my best friend got her haircut as well in the next day for 45 Euros in Ilac- Peter Mark's and longer version of hair but instead she had a good experience. So now I am asking....where is the professionalism of Peter Mark's stylists.....2 major questions stick in my mind: '' The prices shouldn't be in all Peter Mark's salons the same?! and second question: '' Not all the stylists from their salons should be all skilled and talented ?! Why all these discrepancies between their salons and in the same city, Dublin?! read more

I wanted bleach my hair and I visited Peter Mark in Killarney. I told the guy who did the work that color should be "Marilyn Monroe white". No, I don't want any dark shown anywhere, I answered when I was asked. I said that he uses two different color and hair would be nice white. The result: some highlights and very dark roots. 167 € for nothing. Never been so disappointed. read more
