I've trained under Sensei Rob and Sensei Laura for over two years and couldn't be any happier…read more Their dedication to not only their students training but their own training is amazing. They are upfront with what they expect from you and are a constant helping hand in taking you to places you never thought you could reach in your training. As someone who works out regularly I am still able to get a great workout every class. At no point have the classes got "easier" and I leave just as exausted as the first class I took. It is a training where you can push yourself every class and expect results, both mentally and physically. Working an office job, karate provides me the perfect stress relief from a corporate position. I can clear my head and focus on myself for an hour or two. I can go on and on of the benifits that karate has provided to my life and well being, but each person is different. Come on in and see what karate training can provide to you.

I've used reviews literally hundreds of times in my purchasing decisions, yet I've come to the…read morerealization that I never write them. In an effort to pay it forward, I decided to start by reviewing a place I feel people need to know about. The dojo in Clawson MI is a place you must check out. The instructors there (Sensei Rob and Sensei Laura) are top notch and have all the traits you could possible seek (highly skilled, passionate, knowledgeable, patient, and just really good people). I've known them for the better part of the last 15 years and can honestly say few people have made more of a positive impact on my life than they have. Aside from the great instruction, the fellow students there are truly a joy to train with. It's humbling when you see them show as great of an interest in your development as they do with there own. You find yourself growing/developing within the group and new friendships are one of the many results. I feel very fortunate that I have gained some great friends over the years through training. You should expect the same. In addition to getting some good exercise and learning/developing self defense techniques, I personally find this place a great mental refuge and a way to get away for 90 minutes from the daily grind. When you train you don't think of that project at work, class you might have a test in, lawn in need of being mowed or your cable/phone bill....you just think about the training. You may, like me, find this to become almost essential to a healthy life. So you've read this far, isn't it about time you just go up there and try a class out for yourself? One of the first things Sensei Rob ever said to me was that the hardest part of training is walking through the door. Once you are there it is easy. While I wasn't sure about that comment at the time, I found it to be very true (in other things as well). Some of you may have driven by the dojo already....contemplated coming in. My hope is that this review will give you the motivation/desire to take that toughest step and walk through the door to give this place a try. I am sure you will thank me later!

We have been members for that last 6+ years (and have been part of other dojos in the past for some comparisons). It has given my children increased confidence and self esteem that would not have been possible without the amazing instructors and staff at DMA. The lessons they have taught my kids have really helped them grow. They not only teach the physical aspects of martial arts, but principles and thought leadership behind it. It has had an amazing impact on the students. We are also part of their Leadership program which teaches how to connect with people in a meaningful way, bring out the best in our students and become leaders themselves. As a parent, and seasoned leader for decades, have found great value from our sensei's leadership program. I have found lifelong friends, incredible motivation to stay active and healthy, and motivation to keep pursing black belt excellence. I cannot speak highly enough of the positive impact that Dynamic Martial Arts has had on my family's lives.

We were able to try Dynamic Martial Arts for 3 sessions before we committed to anything. We wanted to be sure our son liked it, but we also wanted to make sure it was worth the money for a regular membership. My son got along really well with the instructor in his initial sessions. We decided to keep coming back. This dojo charges $80/mo for its instruction. Let me assure you, Sensei Jon Davis created an awesome youth program for the Little Dragons and my son couldn't be happier. The staff is always on time and they offer make up sessions if your schedule doesn't allow for attending your regular class (gotta love flexibility). The environment is always clean and organized. There is a little commotion from the zumba class next door, but it hardly seems like a distraction due to the incredible teaching skills of Sensei Davis and his staff. I can't say enough good things about this dojo. The hard work and dedication to the art is obvious and you can't help but feel great respect for the traditions of karate. I can't comment on any other practices of this dojo except the youth program (Little Dragons). They do have much more to offer so if you're interested in this sort of thing, stop in and you will be greeted with a friendly face. ~ strik9

We arrive 15 minutes early and the doors were locked. We called 3 times while we waited. Waited till 7:15 (15 minutes after the session was suppose to start) until we decided to leave and left me to leave this rating. My son was very excited to try this out and was left crushed. If something came up you could have called, texted, or emailed as you did to confirm this session but we received nothing. Left to find somewhere else to take our kid, we were going to try here because of the good things we heard. This was very unprofessional to say the least! If you are going to try here you might want to call and confirm with a human being. Don't trust their confirmation system, texts or emails.

What I loved the most about their program is that it's not just about learning karate moves - it's about being a better person and teaching them life lessons. I sincerely was saddened when my son told me he wanted to quit so he could do soccer over the summer, and there's a big piece of me hoping come fall he wants to get back in with Traditional Karate Dojo!
