I normally don't write reviews but Dr. Hugh certanily deserves one. His schudleing and timly efforts have always impressed me. The front office staff has always been timly in getting me an appoinment when needed. Parking is a little bit of a bear but there is the Velet. I was looking for a Doctor to help figure out a long term /chronic issue I had been having and heard from a friend about Dr. Hugh and how good he is and how professional and courteous his staff is so I called and scheduled an appointment with him. I've been seeing Dr Hugh for atleast 6 months now and Dr Hugh is awesome!! Dr Hugh is very knowledgeable and patient and most importantly Dr Hugh listens to whatever your concerns are and addresses them and goes over them with you. Dr Hughs staff are really friendly, courteous and competent in their respective roles aswell. My husband went in for routine lab work and was notified that there were abnormalities found and that he would need to come in for a consultation. After waiting a week to be seen and naturally worrying about the results, we come to find out that his labs are all within normal limits. Dr. Hugh nor his front desk could explain as to why they would tell him false information over the phone and yet had no problem accepting his co pay. It's very obvious this clinic is driven by financial gain and does not care for their patients. We won't be returning to this lousy practice. read more

I've been coming to this office for 18 years but today will be my last visit. Brought my girl in for her physical exam and was billed $49 for an eye exam which my ins did not cover. I asked to have this charge forgiven as I take my girl to an optometrist for $10 eye exam which includes a prescription ! I should i have looked at these review, its complete scam. I took my kid for office visit doctor inspected his ear he didn't see anything but when i saw a paper in his ear i was surprised what the hell doctor even checked. After that her removed it with water then the billing department send me first 70$ visit then another 70$. I took in return from them during that time that does he own any more they said no but again i got one more bill. That like for 1 visit they keep sending you bill, i think i would have paid less without insurance for this. read more

I went to his office in La Palma and will never go back. Felt like a low tech, third world building and office. They would not accept me unless I changed him to our primary doctor on our insurance (the insurance company repeatedly said that was not necessary) and made us pay CASH for the full first visit - not just the deductible. And when I say cash I mean they would not even accept a debit card. Creepy. No idea if he is a good doctor or not - gave me a physical where I mentioned congestion and never even looked in my throat or nose but referred me to His Cardiologist. I can't say if that was right or wrong, but I'm not ever ever setting foot in there again. Update // After a major project getting labs and treadmill with a Different Cardiologist - nothing. I've been going to Dr. Hugh with my family for several years. I picked him because he was very close and listed on my insurance. I should have researched first. Unfriendly front office that seemed to think making an appointment was an outrageous tasks and I and my family were unworthy. They also have lost lab results forcing a family member undue anxiety. A family member had some blood work done and the results were inconclusive, but the Physicians Assistant, who is supposed to be under Dr. Hugh's supervision, told her it could be CANCER. This, of course, caused a bit of worry. My family member had more blood taken for a second test and we waited 10 days for a call. Finally we couldn't take not knowing and called Dr. Hugh's office. They didn't have a record of the tests and didn't bother to follow up with the lab. this was AFTER they called to specifically say that it was urgent the family member be re-tested because it might be CANCER! Luckily it was not cancer and there was nothing wrong. We verified this with another doctor and another lab. The point is that we went through much stress and Dr. Hugh's office didn't bother following up on something as critical as this. It shows that they don't care for the patients and are just working for the money. The "nurse" who take notes on our complaints is unable to understand and properly log what we say, meaning that what the records show Dr. Hugh is nothing like what we've said. This includes missing information. Either that, or Dr. Hugh is deleting things. I say this because I took the opportunity to look at the laptop's screen they use that had my file on it. Dr. Hugh himself is very unfriendly and will not offer advice unless specifically asked. He fails to scan a patients history before coming into the room and therefore has no idea what prior conditions are or were. For instance, I went in with lower back pain. He gave me a very cursory stretch and pull and did nothing else, not even a referral when i said there was no change. A few months later I went back for a general physical and he didn't ask how the back pain was until I brought it up. I'm overweight and, even though they advertize about weight loss management, he never once offered. When I brought it up, he suggested I watch my calories. They do not accept Credit Cards or Debit Cards. It's 2013 and even lunch trucks take plastic nowadays. He is a member, as are all the doctors in his building, part of the Good Life medical group. These people overcharge and double bill consistently, so take care to read any bill you get from Dr. Hugh. read more

I saw Dr. Hugh for a routine visit. This time I brought a short list of minor issues I wanted him to address. In addition to the usual professionalism of the staff, Dr. Hugh answered all my questions, requested some routine lab tests, gave me a prescription for an annoying rash and assisted me in obtaining a rollator walker I now need. Dr. Hugh is the exactly the kind of family doctor we all need. I never feel rushed and he answers all my questions with the patience and thoroughness that makes me feel he truly cares about my health issues.
