My car was repossessed by a finance company in January of this year. The seller owed money on it…read moreand had not informed me. Yes, partly my fault for not having an HPI check done but I still felt grieved. I contacted a Mr W David Doig of Raeside Chisholm Solicitors to ask where I legally stood on this matter. His response was extremely negative, "the company (finance) has done nothing wrong" was his reply and my only recourse was against the "original vendor, for what it`s worth". End of story as far as he was concerned. Not very encouraging! Undeterred, I contacted Citizens Advice who gave me some information that could help my case against the finance company. I then phoned two other legal firms in Glasgow but neither would represent me. As a last resort I decided to try my luck with an English legal firm. Bingo! They took on the case, and without me having to travel from Glasgow or present myself in any English court, they secured a refund of all of my money from the finance company. Thousands of pounds. Result! Moral......."Always seek a second opinion, or in my case a fourth!!"
