Petco - Just got his hair did! - Pet Training Near Me - Wooster, Ohio

This store is terrible on many different levels. The customer service is absolutely terrible. The cashier was up front hugging all over their boyfriend instead of greeting customers. Every staff member I have talked to is not knowledgeable about the animals they sell which is ridiculous. They currently are housing two ball pythons together in an enclosure that is barely a 10 gallon. None of the reptiles have anything to climb onto that is high enough for them to bask. The fish tanks are covered in algae and dead fish. All of the saltwater fish especially look pitiful and sickly. If you work at a pet store you should have basic knowledge of animals. I will never shop and support this Petco. read more

The grooming department is horrible. Yes, horrible. I'm not a fan of leaving bad reviews, but the entire experience was a waste of time and they were mean. I had an appointment and had filled out all the paperwork online in advance (including the weight of my dog). When I got there, the clerk was rude as soon as I walked in. She took about 25 minutes to enter all my information while I stood there with my dog. After that, she told me there was no way they could groom a dog over 35 pounds. I asked why she didn't tell me that right away or why the online reservation went through if that was the case. She said she wasn't going to get hurt working on a dog more than 35 pounds. No apology or kindness. It was a waste of almost an hour along with horrible customer service. She told me to go to another pet store. Three people were working in the grooming area. Only one was working-grooming a dog, one was standing there and the mean one was sitting there complaining that they couldn't groom dogs because it was too much work. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

I have had nothing but great experiences at this Petco. I drive more than 50 miles to this specific location because of how well they groom and care for my doggo. They have always been so kind, both when I stop in and when I speak to them on the phone. read more

This Petco honestly is awful... Don't go there if you're in any kind of hurry or trying to get errands done... I had a frustrating day and since I'd been meaning to get a couple fish, I thought they would make it a little better, right? WRONG. I waited at least 20 minutes until the people would quit petting another customers puppy, (after I had already asked for assistance). Finally they came over, but told you must be 18 or older TO BUY FISH. Glad for Pet Supplies Plus across the street. Got me my $20 worth of fish in only 5 minutes! read more

My mother and I just left this Petco. The younger female who was at the register was lovely; She walked over to my dog, and spoke to him in a kind manner. My dog has had issues with strangers recently, and any interaction between him and another human being in a situation where he is muzzled and I have him on a leash is certainly welcomed. My mother and I were speaking with her about my dog, and a older woman who worked there yelled at the lady we were speaking with to "get back to her station" (which was in clear view, about 3 ft. Away). She tried to explain to her the situation, but the older woman, who didn't even acknowledge our presence, didn't want to hear it. She continued to be rude until the young lady returned to her register. We left without making a single purchase. Important side note: We were the only customers in the store! How that woman (who's name I regretfully did take down), still has a job at a PET store, is beyond comprehension! She is clearly neither a pet or people person. read more

Horrible customer service. Employees stood around and talked, and couldn't even be bothered to greet me, much less smile or look in my direction. There were people stocking the shelves- it was apparent they just had a truck/shipment come in. They were emptying cardboard boxes filled with product into shopping carts. No problem, right? Except they are opening the boxes, lifting them above their heads, and letting the product SLAM down into the carts. Really? No thanks! I don't want to look around, much less shop, in a place where there are loud, crashing noises every minute. read more

Excellent customer service. Always friendly. All you have to do is ask! Great toy suggestions for my new pound Puggle. Male cashier suggested a matching name tag to match the leash I was purchasing. Went to buy some snails and possibly a fish tonight! But when we ask what the price of a certain fish was, employee said she was changing price tag holders so none of the fish were for sale!! And turned away to continue working. We wanted to speak to a manager, and she was the manager!! A manager who was unwilling to find a price for a paying customer and sell us a saltwater fish! Makes the 40 minute drive to a local aquatics store worth the trip!! We will not be shopping at petco again! read more

This location is one that I really want to frequent, but the customer service is so bad I just keep thinking "Why am I here again?" There are never cashiers around. I have had to go find one to check out. I have also had two experiences with very rude staff. Once was in the grooming area where they did not ask for my dog's shot record when I called for the appointment. Since we had been there before and it was on file I thought things were fine. When I arrived they would not take my dog because it needed updated. The girl was very rude to me about it and I haven't been back since for grooming. Today I tried to return an item. First I was told that since I didn't have a receipt, I could get a gift card but needed a manager. I waited 10 minutes while the manager was talking, then another manager happened by. He was exceptionally rude and told us he would not take the return without a receipt. I contacted corporate, but may do my pet shopping at Pet Supplies Plus from now on. read more

We are traveling across the country in our rv with our 5 lb dog and we stop at Petcos to get her nails trimmed. Never had a problem at 6 other Petcos. This one was terrible. The girl in the grooming shop should never work with animals. To begin she refused to pick her up. She said they weren't allowed to do that. No other Petco employee ever said that. Nail clipping is invasive to some dogs like ours. Picking her up to carry her to the table helps establish a bond and put her at ease. We said she is a rescue dog and sometimes will growl but has never bit anyone. So the girl said she wasn't sure she would she would cut them. Every other Petco person has not had any problem. Our dog is so small that most people just hold her to clip them. This girl led her to the table and then hobbled her so she couldn't move. She got 3 paws done and then when our dog started to squirm she quit and said she wouldn't finish. It has taken years to get Boo to trust other people and we hope this girl hasn't ruined that. She seemed to have no empathy in her. That's a trait everyone and especially people in this field need. We will watch more closely next time. read more
