It's a small location but has supplies to keep your best friends going between major trips elsewhere. I stop here after grocery shopping since it's convenient and they have a variety of dog and cat treats. Less of a food selection than Clifton Heights Petco as it's a smaller size. Friendly staff. Parking can be tight since you're competing with a McDonald's, Dollar Tree and a few other Bond Shopping Center stores. read more

Helpful staff and good inventory compared to other locations in a close proximity at the time. I ended up here because the online inventory for most locations was way off. more than usual for a store like this. They had what I needed even though they website said this location didn't. I can't blame this specific location for that because I don't how it works. The employee was frustrated about it as much me and apologized for how things went via the website. Don't forget to get the website prices too! Sometimes the stores prices are higher than online and they'll adjust it at the register. read more

Diana did a fantastic job advising us on a hamster for our son. She took her time to explain the differences between the types of hamsters and also helped us choose a cage and food etc. she was friendly and very helpful in answering all our questions. We decided to get a very cute Campbell Dwarf Hamster. All on all we had a great experience. Petco will also Cover any vet bills we may have within the first 30 days of pet ownership. read more

I was in Petco today and I had not been in there in quite awhile. Megan, an employee at Petco, could not have been more helpful! She went out of her way to show me where the items were i was looking for and spent time answering my questions. Truly above and beyond! I can say the same for Mike, another outstanding employee at Petco in Upper Darby. I was not familiar with the procedure to make a name plate for my newly adopted pup and Mike walked me through the steps when I ran into some difficulties. They both were so helpful and I left the store feeling so good! I will be shopping there more often! read more

They used to have the best groomers around, back when Gabrielle was there, now all the groomers seem interested in is upselling another product or service. The fastest way to get me to stop coming into your store is to try to sell me something I don't want. We only go here for essentials anymore, and we don't bring our dog anymore because the staff has gone out of their way to make us feel as if she is unwelcome there. The groomers are symptomatic of what has happened to the store in general. They try to hire good people but it seems like they have a major staff retention problem. The fish person was great (Kevin, I think) and absolutely knew his fish. He's gone now, too, to another store. By our experience, the only helpful person left in the store is Brandi. She was great when we took in a cat that was going to go to the shelter, and not being cat people needed help to figure out what type of litter to try, different foods, etc. Do what you can to retain her and hire more people like her. read more

Finally...after 2 years of fighting with petco about "my rewards"...not accumulating correctly...I have earned one bag of food! HOWEVER, when I go to the store...I cannot even access my petco account...which the cashier told me is needed to get the free bag! I'm on the phone with customer service..they have to refer me to IT which will take 12 to 24 hrs. BUT the best news is that I was told that my "reward" expired November 2nd! I am EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED WITH PETCO! read more

I was super busy and two of my dogs needed a nail trim, but even that got screwed up. Looks like I grabbed my file and worked on them. I called and left a message. Won't be returning for "grooming services". Not a good result again. Im working on finding a permanent groomer, but just moved and so busy. I really hope they improve things over there. I was offered to come in tomorrow, but wont get to bed until after midnight and a full day that starts at 6am. I just dont have time for this. read more

This petco has been nothing but a horrible experience with their grooming department and should be shut down! My first experience with them I took my 5 month only Bichon in to be groomed. All I asked for was to have them trim the hair in her eyes and trim the hair out of her ears per her vet. When I arrived to pick her up I was completely mortified. Not only did they not do what I asked of them they shaved my baby's nose hair so low that he knicked her to the point she eventually needed an antibiotic after a week. I complained and was refunded. Against my better judgment I took her back yesterday for just a bath. I would NEVER let them shave or touch her with scissors or shave her (clippers). When I arrived for my appointment I was told by the groomer that her back legs were too matted for them to bathe her and they would have to shave her completely. I was against it and said no if she needs to be shaved they only can shave her back legs. I was denied services from them because they said they didn't have the time. Nonetheless I've only been a dog owner since April of this year. I knew she was not matted because I brush her daily. She just sits low when she uses the bathroom. I took her home and brushed her hair out on her legs and bathed her and her hair is perfectly fine! How does a non experienced dog owner in terms of bathing fix an issue a groomer with years of experience cannot. It was terrible not to mention having like 2 people keep repeating the bs. I had to tell the. Don't. Just stop! I will never shop at any petco due to these horrific experiences I've dealt with. I even returned items I purchased! They will never get another penny out of me ever. read more

I had an appointment scheduled for 10:15 for a simple grooming. I came back at 12:30 to check in and the groomer stated that she "wasn't quite finished" because "they wanted to make everything pristine for me". I decide to sit in the parking lot only to see that she was just beginning to get groomed at 12:45, 2.5 hours after her original appointment time. There was only one other animal there and a groomer who sat on their phone the entire time. I will not be returning! Absolutely ridiculous and sad for my animal! read more

This was my WORST experience with Petco ever. They canceled my dogs appointment after me calling and letting them know I was running 10 mins late. I got there 1 minute late and was told that I'd have to reschedule after standing there and waiting for 20 minutes. The groomer had the most nonchalant attitude regarding cancelling. Absolutely no concept of decent customer service. Go to Wynnewood, leaps and bounds above this Petco when it comes to customer care. read more

This place is the worst! The employees are apathetic and the grooming department is the worst. They would not groom my dog because they said she was unruly the last time. No biting. Just cried and peed. Then they said this groomer was inexperienced and can't handle that. Inexperienced groomers?!?! That explains the last few cuts! Two sessions ago she came out way shorter than we wanted with small cut on her ballet and privates and a giant untrained tail. Looked like a feather quill pen. I've got a MAJOR ISSUE with the cleanliness of this location! Bird feces ALL OVER throughout many aisles and on tons of items. I purchased a cage and somehow managed to bring it home not realizing there's actual fecal matter encrusted onto the box. I left a review directly through Petco's email from my visit in which I was promised a call from management which I am still waiting on. In addition; employees really seemed unprepared and unprofessional... most employees I encountered weren't even in uniform. I'd typically just go return the item to the location I purchased but I live no where near this location and frankly I wouldn't feel comfortable returning to this store. read more

The groomer, Takoya is AMAZING! She really cares. Our 11 yr old collie mix was treated like a king by Takoya. She advised me on nutrition I left w/ a new brand of dog food. Petco's bogus return policy on it's website and the back of their receipts: "Our return policy is simple - if you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase, you can return it to any of our Petco or Unleashed by Petco stores or to one of our petco.com warehouses". Today 1/12/17, I attempted to return one of two catfish I bought on 1/6/17 at a different Petco location in Philly to this store in Upper Darby because it was closer to where I live. Surprisingly they refused saying I would have to return it to the store I bought it from because I told the cashier the catfish was sick when she asked why I wanted to return it. I'm not a expert on fish but it had some type of white fungus growing on him. The rude cashier and the genius who she called from the back of the store both acknowledged they didn't know anything about fish but stated they couldn't accept it back because it might infect the other fish. They could have just put it in a separate bowel and follow Petco's own return policy by issuing me a refund but refused because I stated the catfish was sick. Keep in mind both of these pet store employee's said they knew nothing about catfish or fish for that matter and only used the excuse of the fish being sick because I said that it was not to give me my refund. I called the contact number on the receipt to complain. The cust serv rep Laurie put me on hold and called the store but they still refused. I asked the c/s rep why are they're not following Petco's return policy. She wouldn't give me an answer other than try to give the fish some vitamins! This Petco store in the Bond Shopping Center at 7901 Lansdowne Ave in Upper Darby does NOT follow it's own corporate return policy and Petco's corporate office has no control over them doing so. Apparently Petco's return policy is up to the ignorant employee's they hire to arbitrarily decided when or when not to follow that return policy. I bought two catfish and was only going to return the sick one but decided to return both after my negative experience with this Petco and Petco's cust serv rep. I returned them both to Petco's Arramingo location in Philly where I bought it with no problem. But I will never go to this Petco location or any Petco location for that matter ever again. Their return policy is a joke. UPDATE 1/25/17: Petco regional manager John Stevenson called me to offer his sincere apology and offered me a $25 gift card. Considering I had to drive 14 miles and 45 minutes away to the store I originally bought the catfish from to return it. To my dismay Mr Stevenson informed me that the person he spoke to on the phone at this Petco location in Upper Darby claimed the reason why they refused to take the catfish back was because I didn't have a receipt. This is a outright LIE which I made clear to Mr Stevenson and can be confirmed with the customer service rep Laruie I spoke to and who called the store on my behalf. Just one more reason for me not to respect this Petco location. Mr Stevenson did assure me he would contact the store again after speaking to me. I may or may not get the $25 gift card promised me, Mr Stevenson may or may not have contacted the store again but I don't really care anymore. The fact that these store employee's not only feel comfortable lying to customers about their return policy but also lying to the REGIONAL MANAGER about that encounter (that could be easily verified) doesn't speak well for this company. But I do thank Mr Stevenson for following up with me and to the social media rep who replied to me on facebook. Their prompt professional response was the only positive thing about this situation. UPDATE 3/6/17: Never received the $25 gift card promised me by Petco regional manager John Stevenson 804-366-9609. His failure showed me why the store employee's felt comfortable lying and not following their own store policy, it's their training or lack of from management like his. Even though Mr Stevenson gave me a prompt professional response on the phone he choose not to follow up what he promised to do. read more

This Petco is pretty much the same as any other. My comment is regarding the smoking area of this location - in other words, the entrance to the store. I'm in Bond shopping center at least 4-5 times a week, for the dollar store or the Acme or the Hallmark store or the beauty supply store. Any and every time I pass Petco, there's at least one employee standing outside the entrance smoking. I have to walk through a cloud of cigarette smoke every time. The sidewalk in front of the store is littered with butts. It's disgusting. There's no way the management isn't aware. Employees at the other stores use the back exit area behind the shopping center as their smoking area. I live in the suburbs for a reason. If I wanted to breathe store employees' cigarette smoke and be forced to walk around the employees congregating outside the front entrance and walk through their piles of cigarette butts - I'd shop on 52nd Street or 69th Street. And that's the reason I never go inside this location, I go to the one in Clifton Heights. read more
