In March 2023, I brought home a 3-month old doxie, who was just so cuddly and adorable. I've had…read moredachshunds before and know they can be sassy, but my new pup, Norman, went from cute to nippy to full-on growling/snarling/biting/charging me in about 3 months time. He turned into a total a-hole, Mr. Alpha. Even though he was only 10 lbs, he had some sharp teeth and a bad attitude. I did some basic obedience training with him at my local PetCo, which was good for basic stuff, but he still had major behavioral issues. I thought maybe he would calm down a bit after I got him neutered at 9 months, but no go. This whole experience was so upsetting. I had never had a dog like this that was so difficult. All I wanted was to love my dog, and what I got was regularly bitten and a lot of stress. It got so bad that I called dachshund rescue places to see if they would take him - they said 'no thanks'. And I went so far as to fill out an intake form with the Animal Rescue League in August. I cried myself to sleep that night because I didn't want to give up on this dog, but it was way more stress and expense than I had bargained for. I spoke w/ Sam Ivy back in June and he told me about his behavioral program. I wasn't ready to make the investment at that point, but I liked what he had to say. I told him I wanted to wait until I got Norman neutered before investing in any more training. Fast forward to August - I was on the verge of giving Norman up and Sam texted me. I'll never forget: Sam told me to get rid of the behavior, not the dog. He convinced me to give Norman one more chance. So I made the decision to invest in the Proper Pack Behavior course. I saw all the great reviews for Holli, one of SamIvy's trainers, and requested her. Lucky me - we started training with Holli the next week. Over the last several months, Norman and I have been working with Holli, and I am so so glad I gave SamIvy a chance. Norman (who I refer to as The Whip since he's a Work In Progress) has come a LONG way. Is he an angel 24/7? No. But he's much calmer. He's more trusting of and respectful to me. He's no longer possessive of his food. Our walks are in control. His potty training routine has improved 100%. He doesn't bite me when I put his collars on. I can take him in public and he's been spot trained to sit and behave in a restaurant with me (can you say 'miracle'??). Our relationship is MUCH better and he's begun to understand that I am the pack leader and that I am the decision maker. Now - Holli is gem. She's no joke. She knows her stuff inside and out. Her expertise paired with SamIvy tools equals results. And remember at the end of the day, it is us - the pet owners - that need to be trained to manage our dogs. So this training was an eye opener for both me and Norman. If you are on the fence about making the investment to train your sassy-ass dog, trust me when I say it's worth every penny. SamIvy's program and tools are superior to traditional training or bootcamps because they understand how dogs think/operate. Kudos to you Sam, Holli, and team! Chris and Norman

I signed up for the puppy training…read moresessions through Zoom (all virtual) and it was one of the best decisions I've made when it comes to my pup. Ann is professional, patient, thoughtful, knowledgeable, friendly, caring--I can go on and on. Before our first session, my puppy was THE chomping monster. I felt lost and frustrated. But, after one session, I learned so much about communication between myself and my dog and how important it is to understand how dogs learn. Throughout each session, Ann would demonstrate the commands with George then have me perform the same thing with my dog. As she watched, she was able to correct what needed adjusting and explained as she did that. Each and every time, she was able to teach me and my pup new things. My puppy is now a puppy who others compliment on for her good behavior and focus on me. One thing to note is Ann emails handouts that review what she went over in the last session which is super helpful--you have to do the work to see progress with your dog. And Ann provides all the tools necessary to succeed. I would 100% recommend Ann (and George!) for any dog training wants and needs.

Employing only positive reinforcement, both verbal and edible, with never a "no" or even a frown, Ann insures your pup will have fun and feel successful as he learns whatever you want him to learn, incrementally, small step by small step. I am updating my original review of the Dog Wizard Tampa, as I was pretty excited and hopeful the…read moreday I wrote it which was the first day as soon as my trainer Deidre dropped off my dog Brody. That was on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 and it seemed that Brody was following commands and not being aggressive, but the next morning, I realized that even following the trainers commands and suggestions exactly as I understood them. Brody was not only not trained, but was also experiencing trachea and breathing issues. I have medical documentation to prove that. I will say Deidre my trainer was great with communication and seemed to be very caring and sweet towards Brody. She was always available to respond when I reached out however, this is my first time doing a boarding train program and I did not ask enough questions. That's why I'm leaving this review to try to help others. I went there for the halfway visit I saw Brody was not answering commands and was still very reactive in front of me so speaking with Deidre she suggested the E collar would be more beneficial to Brody being that he's a rescue and extremely reactive. I paid an additional $500 for the E collar and he stayed an additional week so he was there a total of three weeks again when he came back I had to take him to the vet and he's being treated for trachea and breathing issues because of the E collar and lead leash combination, every dog is different. This is how my specific experience has gone. I have been respectful and transparent with this business. I explained to them that I was a single mom on disability because of very serious health issues and I needed to take out a loan to pay for this training and begged for a discount which they did give me a $300 discount I was very happy and hopeful and did not mind paying for this training for the next two years as long as Brody wasn't dragging me down the street in my weekend physical state because of illness. I reached out to the owner himself, Brian Clegg to ask for a refund and explain my situation he wouldn't speak to me directly. He was very defensive about his employees and is not willing to refund my money, even though my dog is injured and will probably not be able to wear a e collar or lead leash going forward. I am not asking for anything more than what I have paid. I'm not trying to make a profit off of this and I want to let everyone know that for my specific Dog this did not work and the company is being very combative throwing in my face that they gave me a $300 discount and not trying to work with me other than offering to take the E collar back which negates three weeks of training altogether. I'm not discouraging anyone from doing business with this Board and train or any other. I am simply sharing my experience because if like me you are financially and medically deficient, and you expect to have a real difference with your dog when he gets home like I did and did not see a difference on top of a new injury. I understand additional training is needed to keep up with the program, but my specific situation hinders that because of the E collar and lead leash and my dogs current medical issues and still the business will not stand behind their product and help in my specific situation. I just want to be transparent so that no one else is in my position having to now seek the legal system to help because the business will not. This review does not allow me to upload my before and after videos but you can clearly see in my picture with date and time that Brody is pulling and yanking me down very aggressively after 3 weeks of training and this screen shot of google search for lead leash and educator is exactly what my vet told me but the business and Jonathan the manager say this isn't factual and discredit my vet they are being very hostile and not helpful at all towards me because the training didn't work and my dog is injured. I am sure the response to this review will mirror what I am saying. Beware and ask specific question and make sure to ask if they guarantee the results in writing
