Kam always takes the best care of my pup! We have been coming to Health Mutt for over 6 years, would highly recommend over and over again

We can't say enough about this place and its staff! We are the loyalists of Health Mutt. Our groomer Kam is our person! She has been grooming our doodle for at least 5 years. We moved from Seminole Heights to South Tampa and we still go up to Health Mutt and Kam every 4 weeks for grooming and food. Kam is amazing - she lets us know when she finds any hives, rashes or cuts on Henry and is so gentle with him. He is like most doodles - very anxious. He loves Kam so much and that is worth its weight in gold to us! If you are lucky enough to get on their grooming calendar - snag that appointment! You will be so grateful you did. read more

Friendly, clean and the groomer did a great job. I felt that they cared about my dog

Well worth the commute! I received a gift card (for my birthday) shows who everyone really loves lol. My pup is very destructive when it comes to his toys and they young lady suggested a toy that (to-date) is still in tack! I'm mind blow! By now, little pieces would be all over the house. Also, my pup does not like a lot of treats and the young lady suggested some Lamb Jerky treats that my pup is obsessed with! We've been doing some outside training and those treats work amazing to get the job done. I will be back soon to get more and get my pups nails cut. Check them out! read more

I had another experience at Health Mutt! Kam did an amazing job bathing my dog and trimming her nails!!! she looks and smells so good! My girl can be a little hyper and wiggly, but Kam was so patient and kind with her. You can tell she really cares about and loves the dogs she grooms. A big shoutout to Maddie at the counter too!! She was super friendly and helpful while I was picking out treats and paying for the service. Everyone there made the whole visit easy and enjoyable. I also feel so good about supporting this amazing small business in our community instead of a big chain place like Petco. Health Mutt truly feels personal, caring, and local!! You can tell they love what they do and it shows! Highly recommend Health Mutt for anyone looking for a clean, caring place that truly loves your pets as much as you do! read more

My first public FB rant.a recent interaction with Health Mutt is the reason. I have been shopping at Health Mutt since day one at Central Ave location. I recently was there and purchased tracheas,i went home and cut one in half to give my dog ,and noticed a small roach like bug attached to the inside, thinking it was dead ,i flicked it and it ran,no big deal, well i tapped the second one just to make sure there were no bugs ,well it was infested (see video). When I return to the store to do some shopping I thought I would show the video and get a credit for the trachea's as I tossed them in the garbage. The associate who originally sold me these greeted me at the door to assist me again I explained the situation and she did not want to see the video and said she would have to get the owner's approval for a credit I said no problem, on her way back to speak to the manager she explained the situation to the associate at the register who verified she would need to get the owners approval for a credit as I was waiting for this approval I went to the register and asked the associate if they would like to see the video, their reply was no I believe you we've had a bug problem with our products, at this time the other associate came back and said the owner said" she would do it this time but generally they don't give refunds". This answer absolutely did not sit well with me as you should give me credit every time I buy a bad product from your store. I will never shop there again, and I will be an absolute advocate and tell all my friends and people I meet out with dogs against shopping at this store and show them this video and express that they do not back their quality. Their website states " all items we have are picked with care, and must meet our quality standards." Well you better stand behind that because what I bought was not quality and a credit was not a favor ,it was absolutely expected. All items I buy from there I can buy on Chewy and Amazon for $2 to $4 cheaper. I have been in the 'hood for 30 plus years I have seen amazing businesses come and go, and I will smile on the inside when this business is done and hope that i have helped in its demise. read more

I've been living in this neighborhood about 2 1/2 years and I love my dog more than anything and I come here on a regular basis for treats and grooming. My dog is the biggest mush and he loves being taken care of the Staff at health mutt is always always kind and their customer service is top-notch. I highly recommend bringing your pets there for all of your needs. They are fantastic. The self wash station is a plus, but I really love taking my dog to get his nails and paws shaved because I definitely cannot do it but myself And he loves getting a treat at the end of his time there and if you ever have to do any type of grooming where it's more time just go across the street or right next-door for a beer. It's a win-win. read more

We have a five month old puppy, and one of his favorite places to visit is The Health Mutt. Not only are all of the associates very kind and welcoming, the business itself is clean, pet-friendly, and easy to navigate. They carry top-shelf products focused on the health of your pet, and they're knowledgeable about the things they sell. They also carry toys specific to the Seminole Heights neighborhood, which I find incredibly charming. We'll always come here for our pup to get his nails clipped and filed because it's quick and they take walk-ins for a reasonable price. I also like that it's a small business full of people who care. read more

This is the most unprofessional grooming place I've ever dealt with. I only go to one person here and explained this in the past because nobody else knows how to groom. Once again I came in to bring my dog and confirmed several times Priscilla will be doing the cut and that didn't happen. Now my dog looks horrible and they demanded payment even though we didn't get what we asked for and confirmed several times. I advise everyone to stay away from this place I do not trust anyone with my pet. My dog also has cuts all over her and looks as if she's in pain. read more

Why 5 stars? Because...wow where did this place come from? --- --- --- A local, specialty animal store? In Seminole Heights? Que? After one visit, I may never been seen at Petsmart again! Despite this shop being about one mile from my front door, I only recently discovered it on Yelp. I quickly made a trip over and spoke to the owner about my shed-monster of a cat. I told her that I brush his hair for half an hour until I cannot possibly put him through the torture any longer...yet...two days later, my house is completely swarmed with fur again. How is this possible? I was told to use a better food and to drizzle a certain oil over his bowl to strengthen his coat. I definitely would not have known any of this existed without her help. I walked out with several samples of food, drizzle and litter so that I could give them a try before investing more cash long-term. It can be hurtful to a cat's diet to suddenly change the food they are used to for several years...something else I would told but probably should have known as a long time cat owner. Healthy Mutt is a fairly large store and has seemingly everything you could ever want for your pet. And with the friendly and helpful people that make up this place, I think I've visited my last pet shop. read more

I've been a loyal patron of Health Mutt for years. They're a relatively small store but they have mostly everything you'll need for a healthy pup. Their dog food selection is geared for folks who want to give their dogs high-quality food and they have a nice selection of supplements, treats, and toys. They have a these raised tubs where you can bring your dog in and bathe them in expensively without having to bend over and hurt your back. Shampoo is included when you bathe them there. They also offer grooming services if you'd rather have someone else bathe your dog, but I've never used that service so I can't speak on it. What I love the most about this place is how friendly and helpful the staff are. They educate me on things when I'm looking for something new and patiently answer all my questions. I really love this store and I'm looking forward to their new location. Keep up the great work, Health Mutt! read more

My dog loves health mutt! They carry his honest kitchen dog food and have tons of fun toys and treats. The mix and match dog treats are very well received by my family's pups and the prices are very competitive, especially for a local business. I've been coming here since they opened. Great selection of pet food. The location is great. 5 stars! However, the grooming department lacks consistency! He's been here and received a beautiful hair cut in the past, but last two cuts have been questionable, if not downright a fail. Especially for $80+! 5 Stars for store. 2-3 stars for grooming department. read more

Super friendly staff, great products, really seem to care about my dog and gave me good advice for her injured leg

Friendly staff that greets you when you walk in. My pups love the attention and love given by staff.

I highly recommend Health Mutt for all your pets needs. The staff is so friendly and so welcoming. They are super knowledgeable on all of their products that I know I will get the best answer if I have any questions. I get my dogs food, treats, and other pet care items at Healthy Mutt. I trust that their products are the best available on the market. I also get my dog groomed there by Cam. She's amazing. My doggy loves loves her. Horrible horrible horrible!!! Do not come here. I specifically asked for a groomer and was told she was there to do my dogs haircut. When I returned to pick her up, I asked again to confirm and was told no that another groomer did my dogs haircut. I was fuming! I feel lied to....if my groomer wasn't here, they shouldn't of told me and communicated that to me and now they refused to give me a refund! My dog has cuts all over and look as if she is in pain! Do not come here unless you want your dog to be hurt from this place! They will hurt your dog.. read more

I love that the groomer offers walk ins for nail trims. The hours I think are shortened due to the pandemic. But I was so impressed that she took him, easily cut my squirmy puppy's black nails, and he sat there so well unlike how he is with me. Hence why I've brought him in! I like the large selection of natural chew treats. read more

Had my two yorkies groomed here twice -- by Misty and Sammy. Both times their cuts came out perfect! I am very picky about their cuts and how comfortable they are. They were so relaxed, they acted as if I walked out and came right back in. The girls even carry them in their arms the same way I do and they looked so at ease. The guys at the checkout are always fast and offer paperless e-receipts, which I love. I was afraid to look at their prices in the boutique, but was pleasantly surprised. They had in really cute, high-quality dog collars for around $10! I picked up two around Christmas. Specialty quality but supermarket prices? Not sure how they do it, but I'm happy I'm only a few miles away. Great staff, prices, items, and customer service! read more

We have two pugs who absolutely hate having their nails trimmed. It has always been very challenging to find anyone who is able to successfully trim their nails. We received a recommendation from a couple we met at our vet's office suggesting we try Health Mutt. We are so glad we did! The groomers did such an amazing job. We will definitely be returning and will be recommending them to all of our friends and neighbors. Thank you Health Mutt! read more

I can't say enough about this place! We have been going here for five years and have only had positive experiences. They are so community oriented and have great product. We would never take our pets anywhere else. read more

I love Health Mutt- my dogs love Health Mutt- everyone should love Health Mutt. One of the greatest attributes of Seminole Heights is our own pet superstore!!! Super- because everyone who works there is amazing! Kendra, the owner, runs a tight ship. From the grooming to the customer service, we have never had a bad experience or even a mediocre experience at Health Mutt. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They carry a HUGE variety of treats and foods. I don't think that there is much that they don't carry. Toys, chew toys, bedding, medicinal items...you name it they have it...and if they don't have it they will try to get it for you. They also have do it yourself bathing stations, monthly clinics and the also offer dental cleanings without putting your animal under anesthesia. The cleanings are scheduled I believe like 3 months out, so best to get your name and an appt. They fill up fast. I love having a local business like this around and I look forward to supporting them for years to come. read more

Health Mutt is a very awesome, neighborhood pet store featuring all natural pet treats and foods, along with some terrific pet toys, accessories, and grooming services for the Fido's and Fluffy's in your life. I am a huge lover of four-legged pets, but unfortunately I lost my favorite feline to degenerative kidney failure a while back. With my crazy travel and work schedule it's not fair for me to take on the responsibility of saving a new shelter pet, but then constantly be putting my little buddy into the kennel when I'm on the road. Instead I depend upon the generosity of my business partner to let me sit on the floor and play with his two dogs whenever we work from his house. SIDE BAR COMMENT: I recently purchased a Seminole Heights Unites "Fires Die - Community Lives" t-shirt to support the employees of Domani Bistro and A Modern Line furniture store, following the devastating fire which destroyed the restaurant and damaged the furniture store next door. 100% of the proceeds, after the raw cost of the garment, are donated to the employees, so this is a really good cause -- http://heightsunites.bigcartel.com/product/fires-die-community-lives-t-shirt. Earlier this week I received an email saying that the t-shirts were ready for pickup at Health Mutt in Seminole Heights. Turns out that the owner of the pet store is a big supporter of Seminole Heights' businesses, and was instrumental in creating the local team to support these two businesses and their staffs. Very cool!!! OK, BACK TO OUR STORY: Health Mutt sits just a few blocks east of Florida Avenue at the intersection of Hanna and Central Avenues, right in the heart of Seminole Heights. I parked out front, and wandered into the store to take a look around. My plan was to pick up my t-shirt, and also find some doggie treats for my business partner's two dogs, Izzi and Belle. Bill likes to say that Izzi and Belle are sisters from different mothers since Izzi is a pomeranian, and Belle is a black Lab, but their personalities are like twin sisters. I'm often showered with dog love and affection the moment that I walk in his front door, and I have to play with them and give them treats before they let Bill and I get down to work. Charlie from Health Mutt was a huge help in navigating my way through the myriad of dog treat options, and I ended up buying a box of all-natural Cloud Star "Wag more bark less" baked applewood-smoked bacon dog treats which will keep me on the good side of Izzi and Belle for the next few weeks. I also picked up some appropriately-sized Barkworthies Bully stick chew thingies which are much better than those nasty ol' rawhide chews. While Charlie was getting my t-shirt from the back room, I had the chance to watch one of the staff bathing and grooming a few dogs, and was very impressed by her attention to the dogs and her gentle demeanor. The store is packed with healthy and great quality food and treats, and there were all sorts of toys, collars, harnesses, leashes, and bedding just waiting for you to take home. Super friendly people, and you can tell that they really enjoy working with pets and their owners. Great little find in the middle of Seminole Heights. read more

Awesome place, staff is very friendly and place is well kept. I give it 4 stars because it's definitely more dog oriented than cat in terms of products. I wish they had a wider selected of toys and collars. But also cat litter since they only sell the corn based one which i don't like because of all the dust. Other than that, I love the cat food they sell and definitely recommend this place. read more
