I have been looking for a groomer for my cat for years. I've tried many places in tampa and was not happy with the cost and the overall look. My baby is long haired cat so she gets pretty knotted up near her butt which normally groomers will cut really high and not blend so it makes it look awkward. That did not happen this time!! She looks full all the way around and is shaven down in all the right spots. And she's not super stressed out and was ready for cuddles immediately when we got home. Very very impressed with Joni's quality, expertise, & COST. Very very affordable and super welcoming. So happy I took the chance and scheduled. Also! It was so quick! Joni is excellent!! This is her passion and you can clearly see this in her work. She shows love to the animals that come in as well as their owners. I'm obsessed with my dogs hair. I own a Maltese/Japanese chin mix sometimes referred to as a Jatese. Anyways, I want to continue to keep long like down to the floor. I told Joni what I wanted. I brought my dog to Joni at 16 weeks of age she is now almost a year and we have been working towards the long hair goal and she looks great. Joni listens every time I bring her in and is able to do her magic so that my little one does not have tear stained eyes. My dog looks so beautiful after leaving Joni's Pet Salon. I was recommended this place by my vet, so I figured it would be a pretty good choice. Backstory: I grew up with Bichons so I know lots of good/bad grooming jobs when I see them. I've seen some REALLY bad cuts that are way too close or honestly just look sloppy and left my dogs looking pretty sad. The way Truman was groomed at Joni's was a GREAT cut. Not too short, not too long, and he looks wonderful. Very fluffy, so he definitely received the "groomer's blowout" treatment, but I'm sure it will deflate after a while. The groomers at the salon were all very friendly and you can tell they really, truly love animals and care about the pets that come in to get groomed. There were lots of cats and dogs around and they all looked happy! I will definitely keep taking my dog here. They cut Truman exactly the way I wanted to and did not shave his hair off which is what I was really worried about. He looks amazing! read more

Joni's Pet Salon is top notch and they are not only wonderful at grooming but with the pets as well. You can see their passion for animals the moment you walk in. Joni's was recommended to me by my vet when my previous groomer refused to work with my older pup. I've now been using Joni's for over 4 years. With my last dog they were wonderful in working with her as she was having hip and joint issues. They were patient with her and would work on her a little at a time to give her time to rest and also use tools such as blocks to help her when they did need her to stand a little longer. With my new puppy, they are great and she gets to sniff and play with the other animals when she's not being groomed. They have also used a technique called "stripping" where they hand pluck the undercoat of the dog for certain breeds, which is done for show dogs. They are very knowledgeable about breeds and grooming for each but also work to your specifications if you like certain things. My pups have always loved coming here and are happy when I pick them up in addition to looking great! This is the place to go if you need grooming in the area. read more

I brought my pit bull to Joni's to have her nails trimmed a few times. My dog had a very bad experience with nail trimming at the shelter where I rescued her so she was extremely fearful of anyone near her paws. Joni did a wonderful job, literally picking up my dog (she's 65 lbs!) to the table where she trimmed her nails. I moved from Tampa several months ago or I'd absolutely keep returning to Joni's. I took my dog who was an 8-month old puppy, weighed 80 lbs. and was rambunctious. This was his first time to be groomed. She was exhausted with him. The groomer nicked his butt with a razor and didn't bother telling us. He was constantly licking the nick to where it was red and swollen. When he bent down to eat his food he has to stretch down to eat his food, which stretched the nick on his butt, associating eating with pain. We had to hand feed him for a couple of weeks. I brought him back to the groomer. She claims his 'glands' were swollen. She gave me some ointment to treat the wound and reduce the swelling. We won't be a return customer. read more

They always look perfect when we get them back, AND they let us keep our collie mix crated there while our sheltie is there being groomed to keep her company and keep her calm. Great place, great people! I've brought my 2 Havanese pups here for years. We've recently moved about 35 minutes away and I still make the trip to Joni's. The team always listens to my input, and I feel comfortable about bringing my dogs here...the grooming ordeal is stressful for them, and Joni noticed this and put them in an area where they feel safe while they wait-- so they wouldn't pace. They always look great, with skilled groomers, and leave with a bandana. The only bad thing is that it's hard to get in, so I need to book in advance-- no last minute whims, but it's worth the wait. read more

Joni does not crate the animals and she has fun furniture for the dog's to climb and sleep on. It is like a big play date for all the dogs. I previously had good experiences at Joni's and thought they did a good job with my dog, however, when I tried to book a new appointment I was told that he came up in the system as unable to return. Now at no point in the previous visits was there any complaint about my dog's behavior or any aggressive actions that would be unsafe for other animals or groomers. It was a few weeks ago even I brought him in for a quick nail trim. They saw him right away, and I stayed in the shop chatting with Joni and all seemed well and amicable. We even talked about our roots in New York. Imagine my surprise then when I learn I can't take him back. I call back later to try to speak to Joni herself to clear it up and the woman answering tells me to hold on. I then hear in the background the unmistakable voice of Joni saying, "Is that _____'s owner? Fuck that." The woman then proceeded to tell me Joni was dealing with a dog outside. Probably some of the most unprofessional behavior I've experienced, but the good news is I don't have to give them my money anymore. Plenty of groomers in town. read more

Friendly people and inviting to pets. They made necessary adjustments to accommodate my diabetic blind dog while grooming so that it was not too stressful on her. My only "bummer" was no military discount, but price was very fair for the job done. My dog came home smelling great and had a cute bow and bandana on her:).
