Piles of dead feeder goldfish and all they put is a note saying they're not for sale

I only shop in aquatics and Honestly the quality of this petco has declined in quality over the course of 3 years. It went from having decently healthy plants and fish to every tank having Cyanobacteria in it, plants melting, and dead fish everywhere. What really set me over and motivated me to make a yelp account to complain about this was seeing the feeder goldfish tank have two piles of dead goldfish at the bottom and a note saying they're not for sale. Like I could dismiss the Cyanobacteria and melting plants cause those are long term problems that take finessing with chemistry, but the mountain of fish bodies is unacceptable even for petco standards

My mother and I brought our Golden Retriever puppy here for training. The trainer, Marissa, was great! She was so generous with her time, patience and knowledge - we all learned so much! We recommend taking the classes 100%

Do not bring your dog here. I was charged $100 for a grooming service that was horrible. Nails were still long that my dogs could barely walk. They did a fleas treatment that didn't work and dog still has fleas. Worst service ever! We brought our dog here for check up and even the vet said the nails are too long that affects my dog walking. UPDATE: General manager and the team was able to help me and addressed my concerns. I'm glad to contact them. I'll be a return customer. But wouldn't want to get the same groomer again.

First of all, this place is always clean and the staff are always so helpful. I have been going here for over 10 years! Last week, I came in for flea shampoo and met the awesome Marissa (Petco Positive Training) this certified dog trainer schooled me on pet care and fleas and yard care that I am now only going to Petco for any pet needs. No more Target or Vons. She has made a loyal customer out of me!

Let me start by saying I didn't want to write this review. I only got to this point after trying to…read moreresolve the situation directly with them. I brought my pug, Chloe, in on Thursday 4/23 at 4pm. I've used their $80 grooming service three times prior with no issues. This visit was a completely different experience. I was told the service would take about 50 minutes. When I arrived, the groomer was still not finished, and I waited an additional ~20 minutes. The groomer (I believe his name was Drew) explained that he had cut one of Chloe's nails too short, which caused it to bleed for an extended period. I was obviously concerned, but still paid and left a tip and left. Since that visit, Chloe has developed multiple bumps across her body that appear to be a reaction to the products used. She has been extremely itchy, reluctant to walk, and has had a decreased appetite. This has been ongoing for several days. I reached out to the business to address this, especially as some of the bumps began to look worse. Despite explaining the situation, they declined to take any responsibility. I was also told they rotate between different grooming products depending on the groomer, which was concerning given that Chloe had no issues during her previous visits. I explained that I may need to take her to the vet due to the severity of her symptoms and that I didn't feel comfortable covering both the grooming cost and potential vet expenses given the outcome. Their response was that they would not provide a refund and the only thing offered was to return the $10 tip. Based on the other negative reviews, it appears that the owner is hard to work with and also lacks accountability. If you look at the attached screenshots, i still decided to disengage when she mentioned she was expecting. Regardless, she should have delegated her business to someone else while she is going through something extremely important while instead coming off as dismissive and lacking empathy. I'm very disappointed with how this was handled. Additionally, it took multiple days to confirm my appointment, and I had to follow up the day before to ensure it was still scheduled. Based on this experience, I would not return. Take a look at the screenshots and you be the judge.

It was scary and stressful. Tim helped us realize that training is not just about the dog. It is about teaching the owners how to create healthy boundaries, provide structure, and respond appropriately to each situation. That perspective alone made a huge difference. Since implementing what Tim taught us, Rocko is calmer, more respectful of boundaries, and much better around our toddler. We now feel far more confident and comfortable with the two of them being around each other. Tim did not just help train our dog. He helped us become better and more confident dog parents. It was also difficult for us to get his attention with commands during walks initially. From the very first session, it was clear how patient, intuitive, and skilled Tim is. He broke everything down in a way that was easy to understand, empowering, and encouraging, and gave me real, practical tools to help Bean become a better listener and walker. With continued exposure, Bean has made tremendous progress, far beyond what I expected at this stage, and it's all thanks to Tim's guidance and expertise. Tim's calm energy, deep understanding of dog behavior, and genuine love for animals make him truly stand out. Bean is happier, more confident, and better behaved, and I feel so much more confident as a dog owner. Thank you Tim!!

Like any parent and dog owner, we were heartbroken and overwhelmed, not knowing how to move forward safely. After reading so many incredible reviews about Brian across different forums, we decided to reach out--and I'm so grateful we did. Brian helped us understand Hudson (our dog) on a completely different level. He took the time to explain the fears and anxiety driving Hudson's behavior and gave us practical tools to help him feel more secure and confident. Instead of just addressing the behavior itself, Brian helped us see what Hudson was experiencing and how to support him in a way that actually works. Over time, we've seen such meaningful progress. Most importantly, I now feel so much more comfortable and confident with my daughter interacting with Hudson. That peace of mind is something I truly can't put into words. If you're dealing with a challenging or scary situation with your dog, I can't recommend Brian highly enough. He is deeply knowledgeable, his approach is thoughtful, and he truly speaks dog. Brian has worked with an incredible range of dogs and behavior challenges, and it shows. No matter the question or concern, he always had clear, grounded guidance that made sense and actually helped. Brian came highly recommended by our trusted vet, and finding him changed everything for our family. When our Miko turned 8 months old last summer, she suddenly began attacking her brother Rufus with no provocation (no food, toys, or attention) and developed territorial behaviors at home. Up until that point, they were best friends, with Rufus patiently playing with her and teaching her dog manners. It was terrifying and heartbreaking, and at our lowest point, we even had to confront the possibility of re-homing Miko after losing our other dog, Luna, suddenly during her spay surgery last year. Since then, my husband and I have been training and exercising them religiously, spending 3-5 hours a day between the two of us, and Brian was there every step of the way. He was endlessly encouraging and validating, especially on the hard days, helping us stay grounded and hopeful when things felt overwhelming. What truly sets Brian apart is how much he genuinely cares and his extensive experience with dog training. He has always been incredibly generous with his time, offering phone consultations during training and even long after sessions ended. You never feel rushed, judged, or dismissed, just fully supported. We're beyond grateful to say that Miko has now reached 6 months with zero aggression, and the two of my dogs play together again both inside and outside of our home. If you're struggling, losing hope, or just want someone who truly understands dogs in your corner, Brian is the real deal.

Taking them on their daily walks was very stressful because they would constantly bark, lunge, and pull on the leash when they saw anything that moved. They were so reactive, it was scary to take them out in public, so we started avoiding going out during the day. We got her at 3 months and I thought that enrolling her in a puppy school would be great for her manners as she grows up. She didn't really have any behavior problems that stood out to us aside from all the normal puppy hyper mayhem zoomies, teething and impatient-ness--since she was figuring out how to be a dog herself too. She started school at 4 months and now she's done at 7 months. We are very busy, and we could only bring her in once a week and it still worked out! Even with a month pause in between because of her spay procedure. You won't regret enrolling your pup in their program because the trainer really understands dog language--a dog whisperer for sure. That being said, it comes with work from home too, so be prepared to hear tips and tricks to do at home. There will be blunt advice, but don't take anything personally. They're seeing it from an outside perspective, and you're seeing your pup as your kid. You're there to make your pup have great manners, the dream dog that you want to have, so you'll have to do discipline. They come as strict, but for the reason being that they know you'll be softer at home. So they're laying strong foundation for your pup. Ginger started with not wanting to walk on a leash, to being very well-mannered on a leash! With dogs barking in the background too. She also learned how to wait, how to get on a point, and how to "drop it." We only had to do an 8 session course. See her progress through January-March! Thank you Torrance Grooming and Training! I heard they also do great grooming, so we will probably try it out sometime too :).

During that visit, Justine explained the Gold Lifetime program ($1,895) and said she would come to my home about every 2-3 weeks for continued training. Based on that explanation, I decided to purchase the program. However, the first session under the program lasted only about 30 minutes. When I asked about the next visit, Justine said future sessions would be done through FaceTime instead of in-home training. During the initial lesson, I clearly explained that Happy does not pull on the leash. Despite this, Justine brought a metal collar designed to prevent pulling and tried to put it on Happy, which was confusing and disappointing. I also explained that because Happy is a small dog, I wanted to learn proper heel training so he could walk safely beside me. Instead, Justine said it was fine for him to walk behind me. I do not feel this is safe for a small dog, as he could easily pick something up from the ground or encounter larger dogs from behind. As a result, I paid $1,895 but received only one 30-minute in-person session. My request for a partial refund or reassignment to another trainer was denied. I am sharing this experience so that other customers can fully understand the training approach and contract terms before committing. Clarification: The three-hour visit mentioned by the trainer, Justine, refers to the separate $300 initial lesson, which I paid for in advance and which actually lasted about 2.5 hours. The first session under the $1,895 Gold Lifetime program lasted about 30 minutes. Update: The owner responded claiming I "refused to book lessons." Attached are text screenshots proving the opposite. When I requested in-person visits every 2 weeks, the trainer replied: "I don't work that way" and offered only FaceTime instead. I did not refuse -- the trainer refused to provide the service I paid for.
