Delphine and her crew did an amazing job giving my English bulldog a bath, de-shed treatment and cutting his nails! We've been turned away other places due to our dog hating getting his nails trimmed, but Delphine was able to get the job done! He came out super happy and smelt amazing!!! Highly recommend! Totally disfunctional appointment system and computer system. The groomer will not see the dog without medical records. So, sent in the medical records. Saw the groomer. The vetco will not see the dog without medical records. But, I say, medical records are with the groomer. Vetco has no access to groomer medical records. Asked the casher, they have no access to groomer medical records. Asked the groomer, he has no access to medical records because he is: 1. New Here 2. Busy with another dog 3. Only has access if you make an appointment 4. Uses all of the above to excuse himself from doing any work to help a customer. Dum de dum dum dum. read more

The veterinarian tech checking in people on 6/9 at 4:15pm was very rude yelling at me from across the store to put my pet in a carrier when I've been to multiple PETCO before and they've never said anything with animals around and told me to reschedule because she took too long checking us in when we had an appointment. I call customers service to fill a complaint and asked to be updated. Nope nothing nada. I can see if I was belligerent, rude, or even disrespectful, but the manner in which she spoke to me and the little Groomer in the back yelling like it wasn't a place of business was just flabbergasting. I have been a Petco employee and I've been a patron for many many years. I am a card holder and a vital care member and I haven't been back to the store since. this one's taking me a little while to get over. I took my newly adopted 12 year old dog to be groomed, he is very scared around people and dogs and needs to be muzzled when he goes to the vet, other groomers have muzzled him as well and had no issues. Petco states that they will not muzzle dogs and if the dog won't come willingly they are unable to groom the animal. They probably spent about 30 seconds trying to get a collar on my dog, did not allow me to help and told me they wouldn't take him. I chose to go here due it being cheaper than other groomers, now I know why. If you are working with animals you need to realize they are not all one hundred percent onboard with strangers and strangers situations. I feel they gave up very early and didn't give my dog a chance. Guess I'm back to the pricier groomer, but he actually took the time to make my dog comfortable and also did a great job with him. read more

My leopard gecko has a bone disease and I had to pay $200 to go to take him to the vet because of this Petco. The woman who sold me my gecko said all that I needed was crickets and the cage. I told her I was a new reptile owner and clarified to make sure that it was all that I needed since I was already there. She assured me that it was definitely all that I needed. Fast forward to about 9 months later, my gecko couldn't catch his food as well and he was walking weird. It turns out that I should have been giving him calcium this whole time. This place that prides themselves on loving animals and animal care is the reason why my gecko now has a disease and I need to help him to eat, shed, and give him medication. I would give this place a zero if I could. Extreme neglect of information which led to the harming of an animal. I will never EVER buy a pet from Petco again. They shouldn't even be allowed to sell animals with how little information they do know. read more

We come here once or twice a month to pick up some food & litter for our cats- I always enjoy meandering around and seeing the animals. In general, we've always found the staff members to be friendly & helpful- they make you comfortable in the space. However, I feel like just about every time we visit- the mice/rat/hamster areas are always really gross. Dirty, and a lot of the mice & rats seem to have "issues"- little sores or something. You want them to get adopted! Keep their areas fresh! I've never taken a pet to their groomers, however from time to time, I like looking in and seeing the cute doggies. The last time we were there, a young woman was trimming a medium sized dog and she was getting increasingly frustrated with the dog. She was clenching her jaw and at one point she grabbed the dogs front and slammed it down, in the way she wanted & said "STOP IT!" ...I was disgusted by her behavior. I would never, ever recommend that someone take their beloved pet into a place where they are treated aggressively. Most dogs do not like going to the groomer anyway, so gentle demeanor goes a long way! Again, The staff in the main portion of the store are wonderful, but the behavior of the groomers brought the rating low. read more

Just came in to get one thing for my dog, but was having a hard time finding it. I asked one lady, and she told me back wall. Well I looked all over the back of the store-nothing. So I saw another employee who was speaking with someone. I excused myself and asked if he could help me find what I needed. He looked at me, pointed towards the left of the store and said "right there" and continued his conversation even though he saw that I clearly did not know what he meant because they weren't "right there." Well the person in charge sent me away because of my slight delay. Catherine and the crew at Petco took care of my very stinky dog who tried really hard to play with a skunk, but the skunk wasn't friendly and sprayed him. They were so kind. I know they wanted to do that about as much as they would want to have their nails plucked out with a tweezers, but they scheduled an appointment without hesitation. People who works here are absolutely LAAZY! Especially the older man. We needed help and walking around looking for help, he did not bother to ask us if we do. The girl at the register was busy, and no one else was on the floor. We finally asked him that we need assistance , he signed, and walked away without saying anything. Went to the girl at the register, and told her to help us even though she had customers. So I came here for some time now. The staff at this location is not the greatest you always have to go looking for someone to help you out. The girl that works the fish section tends to run away when people come in she may know fish, but has very poor people skills. The Fish section has had 12 or more tanks empty because of broken parts been two months you'd think they would fix it. Most of the fish here are either dead or are covered in ick or other disease. If the fish are doing bad I would hate to know how the other animals are doing. The grooming and training I don't deal with so I can't judge how they are. read more

Horrible place! Was there a few nights ago...they should Not be allowed to have animals! Fish are badly diseased. Ferrets water was bone dry, poor things clawing at bottles. When telling employees, they said yeah I know we will get to them later....really?! And everyone seems to be on a power trip and calls themselves the "store manager"! The fake store manager on the night I was there..turns out shes the dog food "expert". She not only harassed the other employees but the customers too with the mouth of a trucker! I finally talk to the real store manager, but when contacting him back today...yet again not the real store manager. read more

Awful experience . I took my Australian Shepherd to get groomed after booking online a haircut and bath, along with the summer package . When I arrived they checked me in and took my dog without prompting me on what 3 extra services I would like that I clearly booked. When I left I realized the girl who checked us in never asked me. I used to go to petco Wallingford where I was always asked to pick the 3 services and was always asked how I wanted my dog cut. 3 hours later they called to tell me Terk was ready for pick up. When I got there Ashley was checking someone else in who had about a million questions (which I clearly should have done as well) I waited about 15 minutes before I was acknowledged and she told me to take my receipt and pay first then I'd get my dog. Why she didn't just give me the receipt when I walked in I don't know since she was the same girl I dealt with a few hours earlier and clearly I was there for pick up. When my dog came out he did not have any noticeable haircut besides his feet. I didn't say anything at the time because I figured I'll just let it go and won't use petco grooming anymore. As soon as I got home Terk drank and entire bowl of water which he NEVER does so that tells me they didn't give my dog any water in his kennel. Secondly he didn't even smell like he had a proper bath. With further inspection I can tell they shaved his sanitary areas, including his penis taking all the hair completely off which a dog needs. Currently it's red and scabbed from the razor burn and lack of hair that protects it and he's in terrible pain. To be fair I did want his butt trimmed... they barely did that side of course but had no problem completely shaving his Penis. Do not use Milford petco grooming. Wallingford location was much more accommodating, friendly, knowledgeable. $120 later and my dog isn't bathed, or cut properly and now he's in actual pain. read more

The price was a little high but with the store coupon ($5.00 Off) made it a little less pricey. We bring our dog to the grooming parlor here. A lot of people frown on bringing dogs to places like Petco for grooming, but we love it here. Ashley is Murphy's girl. He looks wonderful every time we pick him up, and we don't have to worry whether he is being looked after or not. We used to go to a independent groomer and she was horrible to our dog, which we found out later. Don't listen to people when they tell you you need to go to an independent groomer, sometimes they aren't better. Rest assure that THIS Petco's grooming parlor will take care of your pup like one of their own. read more

A few months ago I took my Miniature Schnauzer to the grooming saloon of the PETCO located in Milford CT, and I specifically asked for a classic Schnauzer cut. When I went to pick up my dog I expressed that I was not happy with the results. The main reason was that you never cut the beard in the Classic Schnauzer cut, and they did. My dog did not look anything like it should. Even though I was asking for my money back, I was convince by the groomer that everything was a miscommunication, and to bring my dog back for her next grooming for free. The groomer wanted to prove me that she could do a great job. I even got a call last week reminding me that some time had pass since my last dog grooming, and that I had a free appointment. Because of the insistence, I decided to give it another try, and took my dog in today. You could imagine my surprise when I get my dog back with exactly the same cut that I hated the first time. Why the insistence if at the end it looked like they did not even tried to get it right? read more
