I come to this Petco all the time for my dogs and always have the best experience! The staff always greets my dogs with treats which they love! Two of our dogs have gone through training with Kavita, which I highly recommend! She is fantastic with the dogs, and is very patient when it comes to working on behaviors that puppies are struggling with. She is so great about answering questions and is available through text and email! Our dogs love her and have done so well since her training! There is always a nice selection of toys for the dogs, mine like to come in and pick their own. I love the seasonal displays, it's fun to get the dogs all ready for each season! DISCRIMINATES AGAINST OLDER DOGS I made an appointment for my Navy foster dog for a bath, only to receive this reply "Hello this is Petco grooming unfortunately we are not going to be able to take Tundra for their grooming appointment tomorrow. Based on their older age and lack of grooming history." I replied she was a Navy foster dog from Norfolk who had regular grooming there and is in excellent health. Please reconsider. Later I received a confirmation text for the appointment, to which I replied 1 to confirm. Appointment was confirmed. When I arrived at the appointment I was told it had been cancelled by me ...... really, then why was I there?!? I have the text message showing it was confirmed! Obviously they had cancelled it and not told me! This was extremely upsetting and very poor business practice. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! read more

This review is for the westchester commons store in midlothian. I will never return to this store again. Alex the manager is rude and disrespectful. The dog training is unorganized and phone calls and txt are ignored. I had to hire another trainer due to the inability of the trainer to keep her schedule straight. When I requested a refund I was treated terrible by the manager and put down by the trainer because she disagrees with the alternate training method I chose. Very disappointed in the lack of professionalism and customer service. This petco will never get another dime from me. read more

Went into petco in westchester commons right before they closed and needed some fish for my tank! So we asked if we could get some fish since we were in the store before they closed and a woman (Patricia) sighed so big like it was the worse thing! And the woman said well we are closed! Wow!! We used to take our dog here for grooming every 6 weeks or so-Lottie was our girl and always did a great job! The last time we went, about a month ago, Lottie had left and we had someone else do the grooming. Terrible-our dog wasn't bleeding but that's about the best thing I can say. She had chunks of fur missing on her face, her cut was super uneven, and her nails didn't seem to be trimmed as well. My husband picked her up and thought she looked okay, but there was a DIVOT missing from between her eyes We had a good run, Petco, but today will be our first visit to Bark and Sparkle. I will say that Petco is easy to schedule with and the pricing is comparable to what we will pay elsewhere. If you're in a crunch they'll probably be fine but your dog won't be winning any beauty contests. read more

I cannot recommend this location highly enough! We have been shopping regularly for food and random dog supplies here for a couple years. This is one of the larger Petcos in the area. They have a huge selection of toys, training aids, food, treats, etc. We adopted a puppy earlier this year, Bailey a border collie mix, and knew we would need to get her into training asap due to her high energy and intelligence, so we decided to try their training department. Kavita, the trainer, has been working with us and our puppy with basic obedience. She is an absolute gem! Very patient, knowledgeable, and personable. We greatly enjoy going to class each week and learning new things as well as giving Bailey time to play with her friends in class. Overall, we have been very happy as customers here. The staff are always friendly, smiling and waving whenever we visit (especially if we bring the dogs lol), and are helpful whenever we need assistance. 5 stars read more

Waited in line outside for the mobile clinic for vaccinations this morning. Noticeably missing was the Mobil Vetco/Petco RV outside the store. After 25 minutes it's 9:58am and the line is getting longer along with more cars pulling into the parking lot and unloading their pets...an employee not identified by name or position asks aloud...."are all of you waiting for the vetco vaccinations clinic? Uhhh yeah!!! He says "they just called and said they won't be able to come today...they didn't say why so we don't know." Although he did offer to call them back and see if they would be making their other scheduled rounds at Petco stores in the area about another 25 - 40 minutes away depending on which one. Needless to say this is all the location needs to help its image and as simple as it could have been to show up and provide the service and most likely receive a much needed positive review.....blown opportunity. read more

We have been going to a groomer for our Cockapoos since he was born, he is now 7. The groomers always rave about how good he is. We recently moved and needed a new groomer so we tried Petco. They are extremely unprofessional and not trained. Nikki the groomer put a slip lead on him, he was clearly nervous and she tried to rub his paws. He mouthed at her that he did not like that, did not bite her or growl. She handed me the leash and said "you can just take him, I'm not working with him." The conversation furthered with her being extremely rude, she clearly just didnt want to do her job. read more

Do NOT take your dog here if you hope to see him/her alive again! My friend took her golden retriever here and he was forgotten in the drier and cooked alive! There is no excuse for this level of neglect, cruelty, and flat out stupidity! The bottom line is if you bring your dog here after reading this, and something happens, you were warned and have only yourself to blame. My dogs had been at a boarding facility and came out in rough shape- I don't generally use groomers since they are show dogs and I'm very particular about how they are groomed, but Jess and the team at the salon offered to help me out. I'm very grateful for them fitting in two Great Danes mid day, giving them a medicated bath and nail trim, all for a very reasonable price. Fantastic service! read more

We have had two of our dogs groomed by Courtney in the past month and have been very pleased. One is an older dog who is timid and the other is a young dog who is energetic and new to grooming. Courtney handled both extremes really well and has a calm soothing demeanor which was really important for both dogs. Both dogs looked great and we plan to continue seeing Courtney for all of our grooming needs. read more

The grooming department provides exactly the kind of customer service you'd expect from a place like this. In other words, you get what you pay for and you'd be served best by having your dog groomed somewhere else. McDonalds of grooming--fine if you want the hamburger the way they make all the burgers, but if you don't want pickles or you're not happy because they burned your burger, you'll know why the burger costs so little. Elevating your concerns to the corporate level helps not. read more

So first, they were very unhelpful on the phone when I called. I found the item I wanted online, but needed a few other things so I called to see if the price was the same as online because it looked like online purchases had a discount. When I called and gave the item number, the man I spoke to could not find the item so I went to the store. I was in the store less than 2 minutes when I found several colors and sizes of the item in question but at an egregiously higher price than the price online. When I was in line to pay I asked the woman helping me if they would match the online price and they wont. On top of that, she told me that the carrier I was buying was to small for my dog who is currently a puppy that I am flying with in less than a week. I told her this and then she berated me for getting a soft carrier even though I let her know that the pup was flying in cabin with me and on the carrier it said "airline cabin approved!" Not to mention I did the research about what the airline allows before I even walked into the store. CHECK OUT THIS STORE!!! located just pass Rt 288 overpass in the mall, right next to the movie theater. Easy access!! Their FISH dept. has a wide variety of Tropical & Salt water Fish, as well as speciality items such as bamboo shrimp, crabs, snails, etc. Plus an excellent selection of aquarium plants that are in perfect health. They have very knowledgeable sales associates, each specializing in different fields, but knowledgeable in all departments of the store. In the FISH dept. request Eric #18 or David. Very experenced in Tropical and Salt water fish. Caring for them as well as helping to set up your aquarium. They have no problem checking and evaluating water samples. If you just need advise call the store. Customer service is happy to answer any and all questions concerning your fish or aquarium. Their return policy is 30 days (fish/receipt + water sample). I've never had problem returning fish!! They also have excellent DOG GROOMING & dog supplies. But that's not why I'm writing this review. read more

If you have any questions do not bother going in! I wanted to get the equipment to set up a fish tank and was not quite sure on what to get. There was no one around to ask any questions. The only people working the store were at the check out lines. Once I started looking at the fish it was horrible! Out of 25 betas one 2 were still alive! Almost every tank had at least two fish dead in them! It was horrible from now on I will stick to petsmart. read more
