Marice was so amazing. Talked to us. Asked questions about what state we are from and if we were out here for a special education. My husband was out in Wisconsin for work and that I had brought my dogs with us and one ended up throwing up in her kennel. She said she used the calming bites we got and she loves them. And I told her about the bed my dog throwing up on ( just bought from Walmart for 30$) fell apart in the washer after being washed just once in cold water. She told me about the really good dog beds she had bought, and now they where on clearance! and her coworkers told us it was buy one get one free on all clearance items!!! So I bought the last 2. Mariice was AMAZING read more

We've been coming here for our dog's baths ever since we moved to Westwood, and the grooming/bath staff have always been really friendly and sweet with our pup. Today was our 8th bath, which should have been free, but unfortunately the free bath wasn't showing up in the system after Petco's recent update. We tried everything, but it just wouldn't work. This is where Ryan really deserves a shoutout. Ryan was incredibly patient and helpful the entire time. They called customer service, helped me get to the right department, found a phone number specifically for this issue, and literally walked me through everything step by step. Ryan could have easily just told me to call customer service myself, but instead, they actually stayed involved and made sure I knew what to do. And guess what -- it finally worked! So grateful for Ryan's patience, kindness, and willingness to actually help solve the problem. It's people like Ryan who make a frustrating situation so much easier. Five stars for Ryan! read more

Very Disappointed After Two Years as a Loyal Customer I've been taking my dog to Petco Grooming in Westwood for the past two years and have always been extremely happy with the staff and the service. I've been a loyal customer, which makes my recent experience all the more disappointing. I had scheduled a grooming appointment for my dog, but at the last minute, I needed to provide proof of his rabies vaccination. My veterinarian was in the process of sending the paperwork, which was only going to take another five minutes or so. Unfortunately, this delayed me by approximately 15-20 minutes. When I arrived, the groomer was still working on her previous client, so my delay wasn't actually keeping her waiting. Nevertheless, I was told that my dog could not be groomed, even once the paperwork arrived, because the groomer had to leave at 6 p.m. I completely understand that businesses have schedules and employees have lives outside of work. However, I also believe that a little flexibility and consideration for a loyal customer go a long way. As someone who has dealt with customers in my own business for many years, I would never dream of sending away a longtime client under these circumstances without making some effort to accommodate them. They have now lost a very good and loyal customer over something that I believe could have been handled with a little understanding and common sense. I'm genuinely upset and disappointed, especially after two years of such positive experiences. I sincerely hope that someone in management reads this review and takes the time to reach out to me. Good customer service isn't just about doing a good job when everything goes smoothly. It's also about how you treat your customers when something doesn't go according to plan. read more

This review is based solely on professionalism. If I could give the grooming department negative stars, I would. My dog has been groomed at various Petco locations for years. Yesterday, I made an appointment for a bath and haircut and included a note explaining that he has a medical condition, along with the name of his veterinary clinic. Shortly after, I received a text from an employee stating, "That sounds very sketchy," and that they would rather not groom my dog in his condition. I immediately called and spoke with the grooming manager. I explained that I had no problem providing a note from my vet and that I understood Petco has policies they must follow. That's exactly why I was willing to provide additional documentation. Instead of calling me to gather more information--such as what medication he takes for congestive heart failure--they simply labeled the situation as "sketchy" and said grooming can be stressful for dogs. Every groomer who has worked with my dog in the past has treated him well and never had an issue. I canceled my appointment and found another establishment that was willing to listen and handle the situation professionally read more

Sometimes you miss the in-person feel until you step into the store. Quick regret! Got the full "miserable employee" experience. Online shopping means I skip the attitude entirely and usually get a better price too. Stores wonder why foot traffic is disappearing, maybe start with who's working with customers. read more

Clean, fully stocked and service was friendly. We just stopped in to find a cat tree for our 18 year old. Guess the only complaint is that most of the cat trees didn't have prices and after not seeing any staff on the floor for help we had to wait in line to get a price. read more

Hi, this is for my dog. I've been taking her there for five years plus there was a man there who is very skinny and tall. I don't need to say his name but I'm sure you guys can figure out who he is but literally he knows not to cut mydog's tail. He then cut her tail completely short and then told me that he could not cut her hair on her body and then I even pre-tipped him. I stopped going to him years abut he was the only one that was available. Wrote in a previous review on Google that that's dog abuse why would he cut her tail the shortest could be and that was the only part that he can cut I'm highly disappointed with him and it just makes me sick that he did that to my. read more

Dirtiest store ever. The carpet going into the store entrance is disgusting. The elevator used only for the store is gross. No shopping carts in store. I bought a bag of cat food here a couple of days ago. The food had maggots and webs in it when I poured it out into my feeder. They told me the only way that they would provide edible, safe and non-expired food was if I put all of the maggot food back into the bag and bring it to the store.... I explained on the phone how disgusting that is and was completely disregarded. This store sells out of date, pet products and you need to be careful. Do NOT go here read more

This store is a prime example of why some brick and mortar stores should go out of business. After struggling and waiting with the carpet I bought while the cashier had a lengthy convo with someone about her vet it was my turn. I had a $5 coupon which she assured me went through. It didn't. She instead c charged me twice for an item. read more

They will charge you more than the listed online price constantly. Same product as their website, but more money at this location. This is the "Westside Tax" in action. They will match the online price, which means they know they are charging more for this location. They'll call it a national price, which is absurd. It's a scam to get you to pay more. Check the online price. Show them. Get a price adjustment. Otherwise go online. No one needs to keep these scams running in their neighborhood. People think they can charge more money because they're in a Westside neighborhood. Time to see what Chewy.com has to say... read more

We've been working with Tim as part of the Petco dog training programs for almost 3 months now - He has been absolutely fantastic! Nash (my pup) started through the beginner puppy class at 11 weeks old, and is now in the advanced class. The socialization and dedicated training he's received have been fundamental in helping to curb early onset reactivity or behaviors. Tim's patience and ability to control a room of 4-6 pups ranging in temperament and energy, while providing tailored experiences to each for their specific needs, is impressive and incredibly appreciated :) read more

I had a terrible experience at this location. I took my dog for grooming here and after leaving my dog for the full 2 hours, her face and neck wasn't even groomed, yet I was still charged the full price. When I brought this up to the manager, Ryan, he was extremely unprofessional. Instead of taking responsibility or offering any solution, he told me to take my dog somewhere else and blamed the issue on my dog, even though she has been groomed multiple times elsewhere with no problems. When I asked what I can do he suggested "desensitizing" her with vibration sounds, which I tried at home with zero reaction. My dog is very friendly and calm and many people have held her with no issues. The manager even said they "don't have time" to properly groom her, which says everything about the quality of this place. I left extremely disappointed and frustrated. If you're a new customer please save your time and money and go somewhere else. read more

This review is solely for Ren, who was so incredibly kind and helpful during my last visit. I frequent this Petco a lot since I work in the area and there never seems to be any shopping carts. Whatever! Not a big deal. But it sucks having to lug around a 35lb container of litter every time I come here. Today, I decided to grab two 35lb litter containers and of course, no shopping carts. So I stacked them on top of each other and just pushed them to the cashier with the help of a kind gentleman who was also shopping. Ren rang me up and offered to bring me a cart and then offered to just help me carry it down to my car. Ren was extremely helpful and they did it with a smile on their face the whole time. Ren carried one 35lb litter container while I carried the other and then did a cart run so that other guests could use them. Ren went above and beyond for me and I really appreciate their help. Thank you so much Ren! read more

Petco is a national pet shop super store. This one is located on Westwood Bl just south of Santa Monica Bl in Westwood area of LA. Subterranean free parking, elevator and stairs to the store. Have been here several times in the past with my previous and my present dog. The store is big, offers pet food for various pets and species, grooming and veterinary services. This review is focused on the veterinary services provided by VETCO a division of Petco. Vetco is staffed with a licensed veterinarian and certified assistants and offers mostly vaccinations and a general check up. It is not an animal hospital and doesn't have the equipment and or services to handle emergency type care. For annual and necessary vaccinations: rabies, heart-worm, Bordella, etc., preventative necessary care. Vetco offers these vaccinations and great service. Once you've registered and are on their system, you'll receive reminder alerts. That's exactly what happened over the weekend, when I received an alert that my furbabe Fendi needed her vaccinations. Luckily, I already precooked an appointment and the vet and staff were ready to examine and administer the shots. The current veterinarian Dr Naoko Miura was gentile and kind with Fendi and patient to answer some of my questions. The entire staff were helpful and they all wore face masks, gloves, practiced social distancing and had plenty of hand sanitizers for covid care. So glad Vetco had this system because during covid, it's a challenge to schedule an appointment without waiting for days or weeks. Additionally, the costs for the vaccinations are more reasonable than other veterinarian offices especially in Beverly Hills. So for those who didn't know, some Petco store do offer vet services, just inquire as to when they are available and you can book an appointment online. All your pet's vaccinations records are organized, accessible and convenient. Recommend! read more

PETCOOOOO! I think this place is over-hated. I've been there twice very recently because I adopted an amazing kitty last week. Their delivery service failed to deliver our paid for order. A call to the Westwood manager revealed that Petco uses DoorDash to make deliveries. The manager refused to contact DoorDash about our order and even cancelled our prepaid order. We contacted Centinela Fred who uses Roadie's for delivery and said they would send out an emergency order if Roadies failed to deliver. Centinela's customer service was superior, too. read more

I like this store because of the free, easy parking and also because they sell the specific kibble I feed my pooch. It's definitely not the most sanitary store I've ever been in (which is odd because they have potty stations inside the store). The last time I was there wandering around looking for Christmas goodies for my fur baby I noticed dried pee puddles in at least 4 different isles. GROSS. I'm not sure how often they mop (or clean the floors) but I was pretty disgusted that a) the owner of the dog who pissed all over the store didn't clean it up and/or b) the employees didn't clean it up for a while, it was dry in all 4 spots. Just big yellow, crusty stuff on the floor next to isles of food, toys, beds and leashes. I wouldn't be surprised if the dog piss was on the items on the bottom shelf. YUCK. It's a pet store and I understand that pets have accidents but still... AT LEAST mop the floors sometimes. I think I'll try Centinella Feed next time, hoping it's cleaner inside. read more

Petco - Pet grooming, the worst service ever they were rude with my dog and they did a terrible job. - Pet Stores Near Me - Los Angeles, California

Zero understanding of some of the hate for this place. It's a PETCO, they have an average selection of slightly above average pet food and supplies. For a PETCO, this is a very good store. Nice layout, good parking and friendly people working there. They sometimes have amazing deals with sale/clearance items. My dog doesn't care if a holiday is over, it will eat the 80% off and still fresh snacks! Only negative for me is the grooming is overpriced. Sometimes they have deals to make it reasonable but it can approach $90 for a medium sized dog with all the bells and whistles. They do a good job though. read more

The grooming services are definitely five star. I went for my first time today and had a great experience. I used a 20% coupon (which you can easily find online) and added the pick 3 spa package. Everything was $50 which is super reasonable. My puppy was going in to be groomed for the first time and has a bit of separation anxiety and cries when he's not with me but they said he did a good job. He came out looking beautiful, fluffy, and wearing a cute little bandana. He also smelled amazing. Honestly a great place to bring you pup for a reasonably priced grooming. The staff are awesome and are super knowledgeable and friendly. There is free 1 hr garage parking and the drop off/ pickup process is very easy. In terms of COVID- 19 they accept contactless payment, require face masks, and provide hand sanitizer throughout the store. Taking one star off because the store is a little disorganized and seemed understaffed but we found what we needed. read more

yes this place is cool. It's pretty good size. I came in the get my new kitten ( KITTY ) some play things and.a scratching post, catnip toys, a laser to put on the wall and watch my KITTY freak out. It Seems like they had a pretty full staff of workers.Everybody asked me if there's anything that I needed and I told them ,"no I'm doing great. I'm Just checking out all the stuff" . I ended up getting about 10 toys a scratching post which had a great price. This place is cool. Oh and they have a grooming spot as well So i'm in, I'll recommend this place I forgot to take pictures. read more

A-OK seems to have a bad Yelp rap when on the contrary, by my definition, A-OK means adequate/doing a good job on all counts: service, merchandise and competitive pricing. This Petco location meets all of the aforementioned criteria but is currently not, however could be going forward, my go-to for our furbaby's needs as it's walkable. Service is sincere, pleasant, unlike the snarky experience I had at a Pico Boulevard competitor and I have not set foot in that store since. Merchandise is extensive here, although in two prior visits this Petco was out of the flea control our pup needed as it was this time. Manager willingly checked her office to see if what I requested was not yet restocked. It wasn't. Not a regular but I believe there is a rewards program should I choose to become one. I won't shop here anymore after seeing this: betta fish confined to tiny pint sized containers, swimming in their own filth. They were barely moving and some looked dead or nearly dead. I don't like caged animals in general, but this is really unconscionable. I don't know how we came to believe this sort of thing is okay. We wouldn't put a hamster or a gerbil in that small a space so why do it to fish? Is this supposed to be clever or convenient? There were a couple of guinea pigs who were also in way to small a cage with hardly any room to move around and nothing to play on. read more

One of the worst experiences I've ever had. I normally take my dog to get a bath at PetSmart, he has pretty bad separation anxiety so the groomers always try to interact with him and make him feel safe before taking him to the back. Well Andrew F. looked like he didn't even want to be working in the first place. Looked miserable and seemed to not care about my dog's anxiety. Fast forward I get my dog back and he didn't even seem sorry that all he got done was bath him, yes i still received him WET and he still tried to charge $80 when all he did was BATH HIM AND LET ME PICK HIM UP WET. What a fucking joke! This wouldn't have happened if he was good at his job, I've never had this problem at PetSmart. The worst customer service ever. Andrew F. read more

I made an appointment for my 19lb poodle mix. I went online looked at the estimates for size and saw for my size dog it started at $42. Arrived on time and checked in. I asked about the full groom and was told it was $59. Christian was most emphatic that would be the price but didnt weigh my dog. I said OK and then he said there is a $5.49 charge for shampoo and materials. So that will be $69.98 plus $5.49. His assistant raised her eyebrows and looked shocked. I told him you just said $59.99 plus $5.49. No he said, $69.99 for a small dog. I asked him to show pe a printout of what he will be charging me and he said he couldnt. Bait and switch and Christian is a very surly an tricky character; very intimidating also. I said even your assistant was shocked when you raised the price 30 seconds later!! He thought he could bully me into paying whatever he wanted because I am old and have a foreign accent! Dreadful man. When I told him he made me very uncomfortable he said "well I'm uncomfortable grooming your dog". I said why would you punish the dog because I am questionning your pricing ethics. I said please groom my dog, he needs it, it is 95 degrees and he needs shearing! No, he insisted. I said this place is for the animal not for me, how can you blame the dog because I caught you out trying to cheat me! He said No. I will not have your dog groomed. I spoke to the manager and he said he would speak to Christian privately. He would not allow me to be a party to the conversation. He came back and told me the assistant NOW agreed with her boss! Total cover up! Horrible people. The manager was very pleasant but the grooming is separate and he had no pull.
