Hes 9 and arthritic in his hips, which was noted and initialed in the disclosure form we sign before dropping him off. She did zero actual work. I had to buy towels and a blow dryer from PopShelf just to get him dry enough to take him home. Been going here for years and this was borderline, if not actual, animal neglect. He's a three layer malamute and being wet in the cold can severely hamper his health. I am disgusted and demand accountability. read more

Do not take your pet here for grooming, they will cancel with very short notice. My wife scheduled weeks in advance to have our dog groomed. They called this morning to verify if our dog would be there for the appointment in which she said yes he would be. My daughter was on her way to drop the dog off, Petco called my wife 20 minutes before the appointment and cancelled. They said the reason for the cancellation was they had a couple of dogs that took longer than expected and refused to groom our dog because of it. Totally unprofessional business and conduct. We will never go to that store for any business. We will go to their competition. This store in particular is the worse in the business. I will recommend anyone to take their business elsewhere for their pet's needs. read more

Petco's Store Manager should really walk their store... then they would of seen all the dying or dead fish in their tanks... Made me sad... I went into this store to add some fish to my tank... (my other fishes are from another Petco, which all of their fishes were alive and cared for). I was shocked at the condition of the tanks in this store. It is obvious that no one owns that department.. poor fishes came to Petco to die.... I left empty handed.. even though I wanted to buy them all to just save the fishes.. this so called "pet store" really needs to be evaluated... quickly before anymore helpless fish die at the hands of the people who do not care there. read more

The store was very clean and had what I needed. I was surprised to only see one employee on the floor, the cashier. She wasn't too happy to see us but I needed dog food! Anyway, they had a large selection of food, toys, treats, birds, reptiles, fish, etc. They also offer grooming. read more

This in no way directed at Lawton, OK store or any of the employees. Instead it is for the Corporate staff and supply chain management. Everytime I go in the hornworms are either dead or so covered in poop and slimy food covering the whole cup. Timberline must be giving you guys one hell of a cheap price on the worms. Maybe it is just that upper management doesn''t know how to care for hornworms. A few small steps once they are received in store will stop the wasted worms. First remove the plastic barrier the are shipped with, then they need to be stored the same way they are doing but opened daily to remove poop from the cup also consider turning upside down to allow cup to breath. That is why the cup lids have holes. If that is too trouble for employees consider changing suppliers. The others may cost more but should more than make up dead loss, unless that is just a way for PETCO Corp to write off the loss. I certainly hope not! read more

I'm going to edit this from a one start for four-star because I spoke with the manager just now and everything was explained and I feel like she went out of her way to make sure that I was happy with everything she answered all my questions my intent was not to get anybody in trouble but just to acknowledge the problem I had and I felt like I was heard and I appreciate that. I live over an hour away from this store. So I went online ordered what I needed so that way as soon as I got off work I could get there as quickly as possible have one part of my order taken care of and the other thing was Purchasing a bird. We got there 40 minutes before closing time walked over to the birds so we could choose one. Worker came over turned bird lights off and then walked away. Went to checkout to ask about my online order. It was right there he pointed off to the side. I also need to buy my bird too. Worker told me he was to busy. I snap! I told him I think he could take a couple of minutes on a $1,000 sale! Not to mention my pick up order that I paid online for was for the cage for this bird that was around $350-ISH. It took everything I had not to just say never mind and I want my money back for what I just bought but that little conure had already stolen my heart. So after we purchased the bird and got our on the online stuff into the car we drove to Petsmart to get the rest of the things I need it for him and they were super sweet very helpful. This is one of two big name pet stores. The other one is not much better, but this place took the cake today. I called to ask if they have the metal nuts and bolts for the pet crate. A guy answered and I said "I'm flying my DOG to Hawaii and I need metal nuts and bolts for the airline crate as the ones that came with it that I bought from the other place did not carry them, it only came with the plastic ones." Well, he proceeded to tell me he flew his dog from New York to Lawton and had no problems. I said I just wanted to know if he carried the metal nuts and bolts. He kept asking me what did I mean? The ones they had unlatched and snapped shut. I said I had a pet airline crate that I had to put together and put the top part of the crate onto the bottom part and needed metal nuts and bolts, not the plastic ones. He kept asking if it was the type that latches together or unclipped. I said no, all I wanted to know, yes or no, was if they carried the metal parts. I said they usually come in a travel kit that has the water dishes, the airline-approved metal nuts and bolts and a "LIVE ANIMAL" sign in it. He said I wasn't listening to him. He said he listened to me "7 TIMES" and that I needed to listen to him. He proceeded to ask me again if it was the type that you can unclip or unsnap. I asked him "do you know what a nut and bolt is???" He said yes, but he wasn't sure what I was asking him for. I asked him to get another associate as CLEARLY, he didn't understand what I was asking. WTFREAK? I finally got so exasperated I said never mind and hung up on him. I had to drive from the other pet store (who by the way, told me that they carried airline-approved metal parts, so I drove all the way over there and when I got there, she said she thought the plastic ones that came with the crate were airline approved since on the crate it said "airline approved"). Sigh...I told her the crate was airline approved, but I had flown my dog here from Hawaii and know they require METAL ones or the airlines will not take your dog. She apologized and said she didn't know that. She said she never had a problem with it. Back to Petco...so I drove there and walked in and went to the crate section and found the very travel kit I was asking the guy for. It includes a piddle pad, the airline-approved nuts and bolts, water dishes to clip onto the crate and LIVE ANIMAL signs. I went to the front and asked the cashier if there was a guy working there. She said yes, but he was with another customer. I explained what happened and she totally understood what I was asking for the first time I explained it to her. She said "not to excuse his behavior, but he's brand new." I said brand new or not, you don't speak that way to a customer. He walked over to ask my cashier something. I said "I just spoke to you on the phone. Here is what I was asking you about the whole time" and showed him the parts and I said "It is in the travel kit that I told you to look for." He said he didn't know I had a dog (when I CLEARLY stated I was flying my DOG to Hawaii in a crate.) Then he says, I thought you meant kennel. I said I never once said KENNEL, (If supposedly you listened to me 7 TIMES, you would have caught that in every mention, I said CRATE, not KENNEL. He pointed to the wire kennels that you cage your dog in at night. WHO FLIES THEIR DOG IN A WIRE KENNEL??? Probably best to shop online at Amazon folks. They don't give you lip back and they deliver within a day or two right to your door. read more

I was at the Lawton Petco today Sunday May 22, 2016 at the groomers. I was not acknowledged at all by the Groomer lady who was not wearing her name tag. She had dreadlocks for hair. She helped a gentleman in front of me and left to take care of his dog without asking me if I needed help, or why I was even in there. I stood there. By myself. For 10 mins before I walked out. That was rude. Poor customer service! read more

Don't take your pet to Petco groomers. I have a miniature schnauzer and she didn't give the dog a schnauzer cut at all!!! The ears are supposed to be cut close along with the head and around the eyes. Short cut on the back top half of the dog so the dog displays a skirt. I don't think this woman even picked up the shears. I was surprised. The cost is high so I thought they would do a good job. Um NOOO!!! I don't recommend them if you have a dog that requires styling to fit the dogs breed!!!! Sorry petsmart even though you are a bit cheaper that doesn't make you better. The staff here is sooooooo much nicer and helpful. They actually ask you if you need help as your gazing into the deepest corners of the fish tanks. And guess what petco doesn't leave dead fish in the tanks as food. They are more clean, relaxed, helpful, aware of the presence of customers. Much much better. Ya know here when you check out and have bought so.ething living they do not put somrthing on top of it in s bag so it dies by crushing before you get home. I will say the prices need adjustment but in tbe way of live critter they have more and prices are suitable. read more

Not the most polite people definitely trashed another pet store and told me that their (the other pet store) rats are all bred to be feeder rats which I don't believe to be true because by the looks of their patterns and their health they look to be bred responsibly. Their was one sick rat in the younger male's tank and when the girl next to me pointed it out the lady acted very very surprised which kinda made me nervous and I wanted to get out of there.
