While I understand the importance of proper care, the approach felt overly strict and dismissive. From now on, I decided that I'm going to shop at this Petco for all my cats' needs. It's all because Sam was so friendly as soon as I walked in the store and she helped me choose what I needed (cat litter). I was looking for something specific and she took her time explaining to me and she was very friendly and helpful. These past few weeks, my husband and I have been transforming a pond at our newly purchased home into a thriving fish pond. We have been frequently visiting fish stores, and this Petco location stands out for its excellent upkeep, selection, fresh plants, and friendly staff. When we first started this project, Melissa guided us on everything from plants and fish to food and rocks. This project has taken on a life of its own, and we've interacted with Dan on more than one occasion. He is incredibly knowledgeable and clearly enjoys maintaining the tanks at this Petco location. We also appreciate that they always offer special deals throughout the month, which you can find on the whiteboard at the far left of the fish section. Our new fish are thriving, and we've built a beautiful, fresh ecosystem using not only the plants we purchased from this store (and others) but also the knowledge we've gained along the way. We also had the opportunity to adopt two fish, who sadly were dumped by their owners directly into the sink at Petco! Horrible customer service. I would not recommend buying an exotic pet from here. Oscar, if you're reading this, your behavior was extremely rude and unprofessional. Please do not kiss customers' birds that's inappropriate and unsanitary. You also need to learn how to speak to customers respectfully. I came in looking for a solution for my bird because I wanted to take extra precautions to protect my other birds. I never wanted to return him, and if that had been necessary, I was told by another staff member that I could purchase him back. Suggesting that I simply "give him up" was completely out of line. The bird itself was overpriced, but the cost wasn't even the issue. The lack of professionalism and respect was. I would not recommend shopping here. read more

Come here often for feeders and came today at 8:30pm the store didn't have any other customers in it so I waited by the crickets to get some and never got service so I went to the front and ask the girl with long grey hair and she said can you give us a minute so I said sure a couple minutes later I heard here call someone on intercom no one came so I went back and she was sitting on her phone doing nothing so I asked again can I get crickets she said nobody came? I said no she said okay I'll come. I heard her call in the intercom again and waited another 10 minutes and no one came. I decided to leave after 30 minutes of waiting to go to a different store just to see her sitting in her phone again doing nothing. Will probably find a different store for feeders. read more

Oh I'm sooooo torn on my rating. The store was nice with lots of items but man the prices have been jacked up!!! It's so hard to pay the prices that they are charging for their dog & cat toys. I was checking out the Iams cat food as I have one of my cats on special food. One for urinary tract & one for hairballs. Walmart sells the same brand for $2.00 less. I went in here to check out their cats for adoption, not that I really need another one but I just like to look and to my surprise it was completely empty. See photo. I ended up picking up a cute Christmas toy for my Mom's dogs, not that they need another toy but their special cute. I also got two cat toys for my cats. They have a great selection of Betta fish, all so beautiful. Lots of little creatures there too. The little turtles were so cute, they melted my heart & made me actually thinking about buying one but what do I know about turtles??? LOL I wish I caught the guy's name who checked me out. He was very nice & was keeping his hands clean by using the hand sanitizer after the guy in front of me & after me. Probably about 2 yrs ago I purchased a self cleaning litter box here that was pricey, cost a little over $100.00. I made sure I would be able to return it if needed to & was told yes. I brought it home & used it and it wasn't that great. When I returned it there was no issues. My only problem is I get Petco & PetSmart mixed up which each other....lol read more

I had two uncomfortable experiences at this store, so will not be returning. 1. The Vetco clinic assured me that the prescription order for my cat would be left at the store counter. The clerk at the store swore that she never saw it. The manager also said the prescription was never left with them, which meant that I had to stand in line and wait at the vet clinic to get a new prescription. The vet assistant said "They have it!" and walked over to the store counter, opened a main drawer, and instantly found it. No apology from the store manager about causing me inconvenience. 2. I bought cat food which came in heavy bags. Nobody offered to help me lift it or carry it to my car, so I used a cart. After lifting the bags into my car trunk, I leaned on the cart in order to walk to Ross's, which is next door to Petco. A store employee intercepted me and said "I'll take the cart now." I replied that I needed it to help me walk, but would leave it next to Petco - about 15 feet from Ross's. Her reply: "I can't let you do that. We need the car NOW." She moved toward me as if to physically take the cart from me. I asked her if she was going to try force. She agreed that I could use the cart to walk, but that she would confiscate it at the sidewalk. Bear in mind that I am 77 years old and walk with a limp! All the way, she kept complaining about people stealing their carts. I kept the cart until reaching Ross! Contrast this experience with other pet stores where assistance is always offered and staff are friendly. I will never return to this store read more

If you can go anywhere else to get your pet groomed, I highly recommend doing so. My most recent visit in November resulted in my poodle being completely shaved down even though I specifically told the groomer I only wanted a light trim all over and for his mouth and paws to be cleaned up and I showed the groomer reference photos (standard poodle cut). Upon picking him up they stated he was shaved down due to matting which wasn't the case at all and when I told them this, it was then changed to just his legs, which also wasn't true. I spoke with the manager Oscar about the disagreement and stated if there was a change that was going to be made to my dog's groom or an issue with the service they should have called to get permission first before making any decisions. I was given a refund for the service, but in return my dog was listed as unable to return by Oscar for no apparent reason as stated by two other managers. Upon preparing this review, I noticed others had the same issues with grooming at this location and I wish I would have known this prior to this event. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

Took my golden doodle in to just get a bath and blow dry, since it was too cold to wash her outside like i usually do. Although she looked great, and the grooming lady was very sweet and fair priced after coupon, I wish i just left her ungroomed for my guests. I noticed soon after she was shaking her head and just thought maybe it was irritated from our other dog playing with her (they wrestle hard).... About 2 weeks later i took her to get shaved with her normal groomer who works out of her house. She said her ears were extra dirty and that she wouldn't let her clean them like usual. Now, this previous weekend my dog had a severe double ear infection that had been getting worse for weeks. I know it's common in doodles but groomers should know to really focus on ears. I've never had it happen from my normal groomer in 2 years. I know things happen but unfortunately sucks that i'm now out $245 dollars for treatment. Love this Petco. Been coming heree for years for grooming by Alicia. Great job every time and my dog loves here. He is no longer nervous coming in to get groomed. Also I can in today with an allergy test result from the vet office. The vet said I should do with a prescription food because it didn't have any ingredients my dog was allergic to but $100 a bag. for a 20lbs bag. For a mastiff that's eat 4.5-5 cups a daily would be very costly. I showed Haas the allergy test within seconds he told me what to buy right away. So fast I was skeptical at first. So I looked at the ingredients and he was 100% right. Customer service and product knowledge is amazing here. I was recommended the Whole Hearted limited Salmon dry food. read more

I had my son drop off our two dogs to get groomed on 12/29/21. The groomer showed my son that the dogs will be trimmed between a 2 and a 5 guard. When my son picked them up to bring them home, I was appalled that they were both shaved to the skin. The groomer also cut my boy dog on a few spots on his leg and near his private. I called to question their judgment on how my dogs should have been handled, only to be blamed by the groomer that their outcome was my fault. She said she would talk to a manager and get back to me, but I still have not gotten a phone call. I did end up calling cooperate to file a complaint, but still no phone call. Went to this location for the first time, never again. Had a HORRIBLE experience here. From the moment we walked in, this very tall Caucasian woman spoke to us very aggressively for walking in attempting to exchange a bag of dog food with receipt. We were walking towards the dog food aisle to see our options when she basically ran up to us as if we were going to steal something. I completely understand the no exchange/return policy (currently in affect due to covid-19) she was speaking of, and i would have had zero problem just buying a new bag of food until the policy ended, but the way she approached us was extremely uncalled for and very disrespectful. She referred us to speak to the manager about possibly exchanging the food, but he didnt even speak to us directly. I was so upset with the way we were spoken to that i ended up going to the Petsmart down the street to purchase a new bag of food (and they happily assisted us). read more

When I got him home around his nipple are two marks where he was cut with the razor. unbelievable! They sell birds, lizards, gecko's, hamsters, guinea pigs and snakes! It was amazing hahaa I am a city girl and I was just trying to buy some time while waiting for someone so I went into browse around. When it is time for new cat litter, my cat with her nine lives takes me from my one life to visit a pet super center to pick up Dr. Elsey's Cat Attract. She is recalcitrant to use the litter box unless I purchase Dr Elsey's Cat Attract cat liter, a premium cat litter that attracts cats to use the litter box. This product is sold in pet super stores including Petco. The Serene Avenue Petco is located in the Eastern Beltway Center with Walmart Supercenter, Home Depot, Ross, and numerous businesses. This location is both convenient and inconvenient. It is convenient because you are able to combine numerous shopping stops at the crossroads of the 215 and Eastern Avenue. It is inconvenient because the traffic situation is archaic and an element of reckless drivers act like the public they endanger have nine lives. Turning left onto busy Serene Avenue sans a traffic light is risking the one life that we have. Unless I am at Walmart Supercenter, owing to the traffic situation here I prefer the newer Petco that is a few miles southeast at Green Valley and Horizon Ridge Parkways. From fish to hamsters, Petco is home to adorable animals. Adorable animals have the power of entertaining people. It is interesting to observe the power that the adorable animals have in causing people to slow down, smile, and want to bring them home. Missing from this menagerie of adorable animals are the cat, the same animal that led me here to buy Dr. Elsey's Cat Attract. This Petco is lacking the kitty cat adoption center that Pet Smarts and the Green Valley at Horizon Ridge Petco have. The reality is that cats only have one life and these adoption centers encourage the customers slowing down to smile and want to bring home an adorable animal to adopt a kitty cat. At this Petco just like many others, salesfloor help is hit and miss. Fortunately I always hit Dr. Elsey's Cat Attract that has rarely been out of stock. The few employees working here are friendly. A few hours ago when I purchased Cat Attract, the cashier took the initiative to take off a cupoun from the package that saved me some money. Unlike the cat, we only have one life. With one life to live, I appreciate that Petco sells Dr. Elsey's Cat Attract that allows me to enjoy it with my cat. read more

Spoiled does not explain how I continue to shop and shower my furry baby with such magical treasures. She absolutely has me trained and this was one of those occasions that I knew she was out of those special treats she has to have. So what do I do? Of course I buy them for her! For if not then she shows me that sad face. But when I bring her special treats home she does this special dance all over the house for hours and rewards me in dog speak. Just her way of saying thank you. This is the first time that I have visited this Petco and the layout is similar to their many other locations. I made my way to the back of the store where the signs indicate the dog aisles of the store are located. The selection of dog treats is excellent here with many wonderful choices. They even had the particular brand of treats that my puppy has to have. While I was shopping for the dogs many needs decided to buy her dry food here too! Why not? While everyone in the family is eating healthier these days I have switched the type of dry dog food to ensure she only eats grain free food. In fact with her eating healthier keeps her coat sleek and oh so soft. So it's grain free all the way for her. The brand that I bought and continue to buy for her is Blue Buffalo. They even had it on sale so who could go wrong there. Now to the register, the cashier was very pleasant and had one customer ahead of me at the time. He was very wonderful at making eye contact with his current guest and making small talk during the sale. At my turn the cashier continued the wonderful service to me. I enjoy a little refreshing shop talk while they ring up the purchases it makes it not feel so awkward. No awkwardness here, and after the swipe of the Visa it was off to home to greet the puppy with her treats! read more
