Petco was absolutely HORRIBLE! I would NOT recommend anyone to take their dog there. I have had noting but aggravation with this store. First they advertise you do NOT need to get an appointment for just nail trims. So I only need nail trims for my dog. They were good at first but as the staff changed and it changes constantly, they kept telling me I need an appointment. I talked to the manager a few times and she said they were telling me incorrectly and to let her know. The next three times they were giving me trouble and had an attitude which then made me get angry as well. I kept telling them he is a bit skiddish with other dogs that bark at him as he is a rescue and they did not know how to handle him like the previous staff which were good. One particular staff (which her apparence probably scared the dog) was not good with him. She cut the nail too close and never told me that and never told the staff either. She blamed it on my dog because he "nipped" her. She was not honest with the situation and they sided with her. I complained to them about this and they also blamed my dog. This is after the previous staff told me he was a very good dog. After that I had more issues with this particular staff and they just didn't want to service me. I was arguing with them this last time and they cancelled my appointment which they did before. I called corporate to complain and asked for my money back. I will NEVER go back there as they do NOT know how to handle certain dogs. My recommendation would be to avoid this store at ALL costs! read more

NOT WORTH A SINGLE STAR- Very disappointed. Went to get my dogs nails trimmed and got conned into a bath for a few bucks more, it ended up being $83.00. Then got told I could sign up for petcare for $24.99 and I could save on the bath, food and more. So, I signed up for it, but was not told it was subscription of $24.99 per moth plus tax. So I canceled the subscription, but they kept the $26.99 and did not return even though I was told on the phone they would... I felt like I was at a used car lot and I was non-stop being sold on something I did not need... To top it off they had the audacity to ask for a 15% tip when we finally got to pick up our dog... And the parking lot is the worst, DO NOT GO THERE!!! Or any PET CO. read more

I bought my small dog or seresto collar when I open the outer container, the cellophane packet that the color is in is all torn open. I will not put this on my dog. I don't know what somebody from the company did to it. Called Petco and they will not exchange it. I have to call seresto! I will no longer shop here very bad business!! read more

Not even worth one star!! DO NOT USE THEIR GROOMING SERVICES!! The staff are incompetent and have no idea how to style/cut breeds. I brought in my 1 1/2 year old golden retriever and they shaved him!! She didn't go over the process of what she was gonna do other than she bathes the dog first and then cuts them. She asked how long we wanted his hair to which I responded just a bit shorter. After 3 hours of waiting for a call saying he was done to which we never received, we decided to check in on the progress and found him hidden in the back, still soaking wet and his body completely shaved ( unevenly all around to boot ) - no more of his double coat! That is grooming 101 don't shave double coated dogs!! He didn't have any matting except two spots behind his ears so why the hell did anyone think this was okay to do?!? On top of all this, all the shaving is at different depths, long fur was left in a weird pattern on his neck and butt, they didn't touch his nails and had the audacity to ask us to come back the next day to finish.... Our appointment was at 1:45...how in the hell could you not cut him in that time. If they didn't know how to cut a golden they should have just said so!! BEYOND upset at the butcher job and lack of awareness by his "groomer" and the ones around her who didn't speak up. All in all, take your dog to a reputable groomer - because it's not here!! read more

Solid joint. Terrific customer service-we went in looking for a few items for my step pup, a miniature Aussie shepherd who is hyper active and needed a harness to make walking easier, a new Frisbee, and a rolling ball toy that you fill with treats and needs to be nosed around to discharge said treats over time. Our sales professional spent a lot of time walking us through the options, placing a few different harnesses on the dog to see which fit best, made some terrific suggestions for other purchases, and generally was terrific to work with. I googled live tropical fish and this petco kind of a long drive.Store website said on sale fish tank was in stock. 2 strikes with no fish but a few beta's and no tank at discount. Strike 3 was the parking lot it's that bad lol I am not impressed in any way by this store. Cashier said I went to the whole line of Petco' s but I picked this store and it's website I am not stupid each store has it's own website other than the main Petco website. I took my dog here for obedience and small dog playtime. The trainer here is fantastic! She knows all her animals so well. A billion stars for obedience classes. They are the number one way to keep pups from going back to shelters. The staff here is friendly, knowledgeable and courteous. Their recommendations have been spot on. They have even sent me to a hardware/feed store when my dog was having digestive issues and needed expensive food. They knew the store brand would be less there. This store is exceptionally clean, even on weekends, when it can be busy. I don't know if it's because the Petco customers are better at cleaning up after their pets, the clean up stations are more visible or the dogs just have bigger bladders. I rarely see puddles at Petco. read more

Got denied to adopt a kitten, which they have abundance of. I was told I wasn't approved because my last cat was an indoor/outdoor cat and they fear the kitten would eventually end up outside. That is a bunch of crap. If a cat wants to go outside and come back in that they should be allowed to instead of being locked up in a small home all day long. For people complaining how they have so many animals looking for homes they refuse the good homes so damn quickly and make the animals suffer because of it. read more

Petco Dog training at the Johnson City, NY store is excellent! My hyper-active English Springer Spaniel and I have completed 5 six-week training classes at Petco over the last 12 months. Not only did my dog Molly receive top-notch positive training. but Molly's companion (that would be me) received excellent training as well. I credit the experience and the excellent results to Petco's lead trainer, Mary H. From the very first class, she emphasized the "positive" approach to dog training and focused on the need for mutual respect between Molly and me. Mary showed me how to behave so my dog behaves! It's amazing how the signals we send our canine companions can confuse them or send them the wrong message altogether...I'm still learning and so is Molly but we're off to an excellent start compliments of the patience, dedication and first-class training we received from Mary. Truth the staff during the floods of Sept 2011 TRIED to help the animals, they offered to take them home even..The Uppers and MGRS would NOT allow them to do so...After that a lot of the staff quit because of all the animals dying... There is a video that was around of someone questioning the MGR and he flat out lied saying no animals where left inside...I know a guy who helped open the building up and he said ALL where inside and the place smelled of death...It was not the fault of the staff it was the fault of the owners. Other pet stores here braved the flood waters to save all their animals...But the staff of Petco can only do so much save a animal and go to jail...they where told NOT to remove them...But I agree the ones with a heart never returned to their job when Petco re-opened read more
