Do not shop at Petco in Goshen. I have made purchases of salt water fish and other livestock in the past and was never told about their policy not guaranteeing salt water animals. I purchased 2 fish, and 3 days later the 70 dollar fish was dead. My tank parameters are perfect and the other fish is fine. I took the fish back and only then was I informed of their policy not guaranteeing salt water fish. I would never have purchased them in the first place had I known about that policy. Not telling customers at the time of purchase is a foul, then not offering at least in store credit is a double foul. DO NOT give them your business. They no longer have my business, my family's business or the business of anyone else I can convince to go somewhere else. read more

I've been taking my black lab to this location to be groomed 3 times before, went again today and I am very disappointed with the service. First off, i had my dog scheduled for the 30th of June but was called the day before to be told the time slot isn't available after having it booked for a week. So they rescheduled me to July 4th which I felt I had to choose because the next available appointment was 2 weeks later. So I show up on July 4th, introduce my dog (who is very sweet yet exciteable as he is 1) and everything is fine. I get a call no more than 5 minutes after dropping him off to hear he refused to go in the kennel (why was he put in the kennel right off the bat?) and that he GROWLED at the groomer and I had to pick him up immediately. He has NEVER growled at anyone before as he is a full blooded black lab, a great family dog who lets my 2 year old crawl all over him. When I got there, the groomer had him on a leash behind the counter and he was sitting still, wagging his tail excited. She brushed it off saying he growled and wouldn't go in the kennel and that he couldn't be groomed today. Keep in mind they closed 3 hours early, and had also turned away the dog in front of me for supposedly the same issue. Whether this was laziness or lack of interest in their job, I'm very upset that he was unable to be groomed especially get his nails clipped as we cannot do it safely at home. I'm NEVER EVER taking my dogs to this place again!!! A few months ago, I made an appointment to have my two dogs groomed. I knew they had a rule that they needed proof of vaccination, so for one of my dogs he was due for his annual vaccine, while my other was due until a few months later. I made a vet appointment on the day of the grooming appointment just a few hours early. It's a 30 min drive from my house so I had to get ready early and have my doggie out the door and into my car. We went to the vet, got his shots, and made sure to get a paper of his vaccinations, then we were out the door. I quickly went back home to pick my other dog and went to the other vet clinic(a heads up: she is an older dog and went to the same clinic in the same city, but my other goes to a different clinic for less expensive services) to get the paper of her current vaccines. Overall I had a lot of driving to do. I finally drove to the place for the grooming appointment and gave all the paper work to go ahead and start. However, the groomer notice a past record of my older dog having a slight heart murmur years ago. But the vet checked out and she was fine and I got a vet note to prove she was ok to be groomed with no problem. I honestly had to problem with this place until the groomer said something that really annoyed me but of course showed a fake smile and moved on. Apparently she couldn't take her in because they "absolutely" need the same vet note for the slight but smallest murmur to make sure she was ok to be groomed. I told her this was many years ago and did gave a vet note but she said it alway needs to be updated annually. In my head I thought it was just a bunch of BS. She couldn't risk it because it was "against the rules." Feeling very annoyed and disappointment I asked if my other dog was ok. She said he was good to go and finally tried to get him in. But guess again another thing occurred. Now this dog does bark at people especially if they're strangers but that's because he is a scaredy cat and get really nervous. As you can see he started to growl and stayed by my side. The groomer did "tried" to take him by just reaching her hand out and not even trying to at least pet him. My dog is very much a cuddler and does let people pet him even he is growling but he isn't a biter. The groomer decided then and there that she wouldn't take him because of the growling. I explained to her he really does not bite at all and that he just really nervous and scared. But no she refused and now both dogs cannot be groomed. I respectively said my goodbyes and the groomer did apologize but obviously didn't make my feelings any better. I left with a fake smile, went to my car, started driving and yell about the baddest service I ever received and told myself I am never going to that place ever again. After that I made a call to Happy Tails and made a appointment with them a week later and they happily took them in with no problems despite having one dog growling and the other not needing proof of not having a heart murmur. They both came out fabulous and the staff even reported that both dogs were good, patient and not scared. I am definitely going with them from now on. Overall don't go to this place because of their ridiculous "rules." read more

Hailey is an incredible pet groomer. She makes my boy feel special and loved. She's genuinely excited and kind. She has a heart for animals and it shows! NEGATIVE STARS......I Will never and I mean never take my god to this place again we have a 20 min round and round conversation about do not shave my dog we tell them to wash them an brush them out first she says ok we tell her what we want several times we are looking around the store she comes up to us an tells us our dog has a stick stick in her skin we are like what ya know prepared for the worst she brings her out half shaved and showed me a briar stuck in her not a stick a briar so we pull it out my dog doesn't even know I did anything no blood no redness an they proceeded to tell me they won't finish my dog till I take her to the vet keep in mind we live live 6 hours away In Kentucky an the only reason we took her to this place is because we was not home an our dog needed groomed but literally refused to finish grooming her had to leave an go to Walmart buy clippers an finish her myself after they had shaved her like I told them not to do for 20 mins DO NOT USE USE THIS GROOMER!!!!!! read more

That was a conversation I heard as I was leaving this Petco. Last straw that broke the camel's back. Since being a pet owner for ten years, I've found the great pet stores, the ok pet stores, and the absolutely awful pet stores. I have found ALL Petco's to be awful. But this store should be shut down. The animal cages, especially the ferrets cage, are disgustingly filthy. The fish are sickly and dying. The selection of food and accessories are bare minimum, and the products they do carry, are way over priced. The staff has no knowledge and are rude. I worked at a competitor store for almost two years, and am ashamed to say the employees at Petco share the same title as I did. I will never step foot into this store again. I'm willing to drive 100 miles to ANY other company for pet supplies. read more

We have been taking our dog to this location for the last 4 years. The grooming department manager has always been very friendly and professional. Last week we took our dog in for grooming, cleaning of her glands, and removing the extra hair inside her ears (as it was suggested by the Vet). Our dog came back traumatized from the visit! She was shaking like never before since the moment she came home. She was behaving very strange and would not stop shaking. After we inspected her, she had a few cuts under her front legs and scratches on her paws. We took her back to Petco and we received our money back, but our dog was even more traumatized by entering the store, we almost had to drag her to enter the store to show the manager the cuts. Since that day she has been acting afraid, and has been licking her wounds. To add to this terrible experience, today we found that she has blood inside her ears, where the hair was removed. We believe the person who did this ripped off the hair without taking any care. We tried to clean some of the dry blood and she started to cry and shake. I never advocate for people getting fired from a job, because I know times are rough and people need jobs, but I absolutely believe that the person who did this is in the wrong job, and he or she should not be doing this work. I am sorry that this happened as well because we have been loyal customers at Petco, but we cannot continue to put our dog through mistreatment like this anymore. She is part of our family and we are feeling her pain. Getting our money back does not take care of the trauma that our dear pet went through. I hope that this review serves to keep Petco on check about who they hire to work with our pets. People need to be trained properly and they must know that customers know their pets, and that we are ready to speak when they have been mistreated. Also, employees must know that we are paying for good services, and that money does not matter when it comes to the health and wellbeing of a family member. I am not just looking for compensation, I am looking for humane treatment to our pets. read more

The last time I was in this store me and 3 other customers waited MINUTES for someone to come to the counter, as the groomers in the grooming room stood there talking. They didn't even acknowledge the fact we were all standing there until I was walking out of the door. I ended up getting tired of waiting and left and went to Pet Supplies Plus.
