Another INCREDIBLE grooming appointment! It had been a LONG time since he last was there, and this was hands down the best grooming I've ever seen. He smelled amazing, and every part of his grooming was SO good-down to his little toes. I arrived with my 2.5 year old as well and she was SO excited to see all the creatures throughout the store, and made sure to talk to every employee there who greeted her with warmth and kindness. We also walked out with a couple sale toys (our boy is a highly aggressive player who will shred any indestructible toy in seconds, so the cheapie section is ALWAYS highly appreciated). read more

They have a Vetco in here located inside the Petco. Easily accessible with great parking. We had a very simple process of scheduling online getting all of their required vaccinations from the vet. I had a very disappointing experience at Vetco today. My appointment was scheduled for 4:55 PM, and I arrived at 4:52 PM, as confirmed by the text message I received upon arrival. I waited behind another customer to check in, and by the time it was my turn, it was 5:03 PM. Despite clearly being there before my scheduled appointment time, the staff refused to see my dog, stating that I was "late." The veterinarian came out yelling, insisting she would not see us. I showed proof that I had arrived on time, and even the front desk staff acknowledged that I had been waiting behind another customer. Still, they refused to accommodate us and seemed unconcerned about how unreasonable the situation was. Ironically, in the time spent arguing, they could have easily administered my dog's vaccine. When I asked for the veterinarian's name, the check-in staff member ignored me and walked away without a word. Their lack of professionalism and courtesy was very disappointing. The store manager, however, was kind, understanding, and professional. He agreed that my frustration was valid and said he would be contacting Vetco management regarding the situation. Unfortunately, because of this experience, I will not be returning to Vetco clinics and cannot recommend them based on how poorly this visit was handled, and how rude the veterinarian was. read more

I booked an appt to get my dog groomed here because they had openings before the holiday and I am happy I did. I normally take my dog to PetSmart but thought I'd give PetCo a try. The cut I was looking for was executed perfectly. I want to withhold the associate's name because I don't want people taking her from me (lol) but she did such a great job and deserves recognition for the service she provided. Took my puppy there around 3 times for grooming. I asked them from the beginning to please not shave too close around his private areas and no poodle ball at the end of his tail, they said no problem and would just give him a trim since he wasn't even matted. All three times they shaved him down to the skin even his ears and of course shaved a poodle ball in the tail. I called and spoke to the manager who was so rude and said that was standard and next time don't send your husband to bring him in. I figured I'd give them another chance (I don't know why) and I'd drop him off myself, but when I tried to make an appointment they refused to groom my puppy....With no explanation. Should have listened to all the 1 star reviews on yelp. The groomers at this place are incompetent, rude and so unprofessional !!!! read more

The way this store treats their animals for sale is so absolutely disgusting that I can't support this store anymore or its partners. I know corporate is mostly blame for this, however, I wish that store level management would take some fricken initiative for positive change for how the animals are cared for here and at other stores. I've owned exotic birds, reptiles, and wild animals my entire life as well as worked at vet clinics and I get so angry when walking around and seeing the piss poor habitats and conditions the animals are living in. The bird cages are absolutely filthy with seeds and s*** built up on the bottom racks. No adequate perches are provided for the birds and the birds are forced to stand on a flat surface which will cause them to develop foot/perching disorders. They've given a crappy plastic stand with two plastic perches and with some having 4+ birds in the cage. On top of that, it's a shame because they sell good perches DIRECTLY ACROSS from the housed birds for sale. If I was a manager here, I would immediately overhaul every habitat in this place, including providing the birds with the proper and required perches. I could go on and on, and would gladly meet with a corporate liaison to explain how not even the minimal animal care requirements are not being met. There is no excuse for a store that literally sells animal care items to not provide adequate care for their own animals on site that they sell. No excuse other than being greedy and cheap. It wouldn't cost them much to upgrade the cages and tanks with things each animal specifically needs in comparison to their profits. It's disgusting and shameful. Don't advertise animal care when you can't even care for your own animals properly. Always, always shop at a local family owned store when you can instead of supporting these greedy corporate chains you overcharge your for items only to not reflect it in their own animal husbandry. Traumatized! I brought my dog Nina for grooming on October 20, 2023 and we were greeted warmly by her groomer/Amyre. Three hours later when I picked her up, I was told that Nina was not cooperating for her face trim which was surprising since she has had grooming before in the same place. I asked if her teeth were brushed and the answer was no. So the front staff took her back inside for teeth cleaning. I never saw Amyre again when we parted from Petco. I noticed right away that Nina was stopping and licking her private part when we were walking toward the car. This behavior continued the following days. She was shaking and groaning in pain a couple days later when I decided to check her privates up close. I saw that her vagina and around her vagina were swollen and red, and she had a few scrapes or scratches on the abdomen which were indicative of a trimmer's blade. I saw a CUT on both cheeks of her private part/vagina and the skin around it was badly cut too. Needless to say, she was all shaved clean down to the skin on her privates. I reached out to Petco at Farmington Hills and I was told they will pay all costs to address the injuries only if it is grooming-related. Even before I received the vet's notes after our visit today, someone from Petco with a jolly voice left a message telling me that Nina's injuries were not grooming-related. Right, so who left cuts on my dog's vagina and the area around it? See the pictures and ask yourself how in this world will a dog injure her own vagina. My dog has been shaking, groaning in pain, and hiding under the bed most of the time these days. I have never seen her this traumatized ever but you just have to look at the images and you will understand why. read more

They then said the rabies vaccine had expired (it hadn't) and wanted to charge me for the 2 nails they missed 4 days prior. They just aren't pleasant. read more

I would give no stars if I could. Went in to groom my mini bernedoodle, and immediately they were very rude and disrespectful to my wife because the dog had a few mats in his hair. When I picked him up, he was shaved completely. There was a few mats but nothing justifying that. I confronted the employee asking why they were rude to my wife, and his only reply was that my dog had mats. They were disrespectful to my wife because my dog had mats. On top of it all, they charged me for 30 more minutes which is apparently how much longer it takes to shave him compared to just grooming him. I don't get it either. I asked about that repeatedly and asked for it to be removed, and I was denied on all accounts. Overall, very dissatisfied and won't be going there again. My dog was groomed for the 2nd time. they charged me 59.00 the 1st time because they stated she was matted this time I was charged 69.00 for the same reason. when I questioned the price hick I was accused by the grooming manager of being disrespectful and rude. Their groomers and salon manager Jennifer DO NOT KNOW HOW TO GROOM DOODLES and will charge you $149 to brush out any matting and then proceed to shave your dog down to it's skin! They cut and burned both of my girl's ears, feet and neck! (Last photo was her 2 days before going to salon) Shame on you Petco for not hiring professionals! read more

I wish I could give zero stars. This was the worst experience I've ever had with a salon. Dropped her off first thing in the morning before the owner even arrived. I was told my small poodle would be ready in 1-3 hours. 4 hours later I call to find out she has been left in a cage for hours but recently had a bath. I specified in the notes the exact time I would need her ready by which gave them well over the estimated time they provided me. when I called, I spoke to the owner who refused to acknowledge the issue or discuss with me in store. 4 hours later my dog is home, half dried and definitely scared. 00000000/10 read more

The grooming staff are rude and honestly lazy. We were a few minutes late due to horrendous traffic. When someone finally came to the desk they told me they couldn't find the groomer. When the groomer appeared she said she was waiting for 16 minutes (not true) and I would need to reschedule or modify my service for the day. I was shocked. This salon refused to groom my dog. When i first arrived Wendy said if his teeth get worse they won't be able to groom him?? My vet said they never heard of such a policy. Then when i went to pick him up, Wendy said she couldn't finish him because he nipped her twice. There was a small mark on her hand and she was in tears. 8 years of taking my dog to salons and i have had nothing but glowing remarks about him... best dog they ever groomed... so sweet and docile...2nd time at this place and now they refused to finish him today and take him in the future!! They are over priced too! I have to wonder what is wrong here. Seriously go elsewhere! Just got home from having my Yorkie groomed at Petco, Orchard Lake Rd., Farmington Hills, MI. When Paul, the groomer, brought him to me, I commented on some uneven and poorly cut areas. But did not look too closely between putting the harness and leash on and paying. I was hurried along. At home, with harness off, I was shocked at how bad the haircut was. Very short in some areas - 1/2 inch and longin others over an inch. Ears trimmed unevenly. Fur on feet too long and the cut not blended. Eyes not clean, muzzle not trimmed. Chest area long. He looks so bad. I have made an appointment with a groomer farther away to clean up this mess. Cost $63 with tip. If you plan on going there, DO NOT use Paul. read more

They did such a horrible job, i have a curly haired bernedoodle that is normally so fluffy and cute and they completely shaved him down (when i told them not too). They were also extremely rude to me. The explanation of the rudeness was "he had matting". So basically because my dog had matting, they get to treat me, the owner, a human, and a customer, horrible and disregard being a decent person. Very bad experience with first time grooming at 29335 Orchard Lake Farmington Michigan location my Yorkie puppy had a grooming appointment today and I specifically asked the groomer only lightly trim his top coat and low cut around his eyes and legs. My pup was black and brown when I dropped him off and when I returned my pup was pure gray. This groomer cut my pup down all over to the lowest and I mean its like he skint my pup . This is my baby, I'm so upset. And to top it all off when I picked my pup up and the groomer seen I was upset he didn't apologize or anything. All he said was he not black and brown anymore. Wow......... I wish there was a way I could link the before and after pics so the world could see this smh. Had grooming appointment for my little dog at Petco Farmington Hills. A woman "greets" me at the grooming counter and I tell her I have an appointment with Izzy. She takes some information from me and I ask, will I be able to speak to Izzy before she treats my dog. Woman says, yes, you will be able to speak to her. When she checks my dog, it's determined she's pretty matted, which I knew, and brings her manager out to make a decision as to whether they can service her. Manager says no, you'll have to take her to a Vet. Then says, Izzy can give you a list of Vets that do grooming. Izzy, the same woman who "greeted" me at the start of my visit. The same woman I asked will I be able to speak to Izzy? When I checked-in and asked for Izzy, a friendly/normal person would have said, I'm Izzy! Nope. Neither the Manager or the woman was the least bit friendly, polite, or professional. Just dismissive. I will never step foot in Petco Farmington Hills again. read more

This location used to do good grooming, however, the last year progressively worse. The last time I went, my dog was there for 3.5 hours. Her hair was uneven, nails not clipped and lots of matting still all over. I had another appointment to get to, so I paid $45 and left. Will never go back. PLEASE NOTE THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE ONLINE PHARMACY AND NOT THE STORE. We needed a refill on our dogs 30 mg Vetoryl prescription. We were expecting our monthly order and never received it. We called and were told on the 23rd our order would be shipped on Dec 26th. On Thursday Jan 2nd, We had not received it and called to find out what the status was. We were told our monthly med was never sent despite the fact we are set up for "repeat delivery". We were told in order to use the prescription on file we had to click the "reorder" button on their website to reorder, I was told this was the only way their 3rd party pharmacy could use the prescription on file. I said what's the difference how it is ordered if you have a valid prescription. I was told 'that's just how our system is". I told them I don't care about your internal systems. Send me my dogs medication or I will go somewhere else. After several minutes on hold the rep came back on the line and assured me the order was in and would be processed. I told him they need to expedite the delivery. He said that there is no way to speed up the delivery and there was nothing he could do. He did not seem to care our dog wouldn't have have his urgently needed medication. Well, the order was never processed, We had to call again today, Jan 6th to check the status and it was finally sent. Luckily we had some pills (he had been on 40 mg for a month or so previously so we have half a box of 10 mg pills - THANK GOD!) which we have been using and he will be ok as long as we get them soon. According to the order tracking we will have them by Friday just as we will be running out of the 10 mg pills. I told him that they are putting animals' lives in jeapordy but he did not seem to care and again said there was nothing they could do as their system is flawed. This is so unreasonable for 2020! Do NOT use the Petco pharmacy. You will regret it and so will your pet! read more

I cannot speak for grooming services. However, selection is awesome, I love that it has the small store feel, but is clean, well stocked, and very knowledgeable, helpful staff of a larger facility. I switched from Petsmart on Orch LK, to Pet Supplies Plus, to this store when it opened, and now it's the only pet store I bother with. They sell a lot of the science diet food vets have recommended as well as an awesome selection of holistic pet remedies. But mostly I love the staff! They know my pet situation when I come in, helped me thru an adjustment period where my cats were marking when I got a new kitten (which I adopted from them). I did get immunizations there for one cat, and I had no complaints. Didn't have to pay the 90 office visit fee I had to pay at the VCA behind them (which I just had 6 months prior) Just a real easy and painless process and a bill for only what I needed. Also, I would recommend the Petco rewards. I like when I get a flat dollar amount reward to use on anything, rather than coupons or weird points that I have to use at certain lunar cycles, between a two hour span on one shelf in the store.
