Yikes. This place was a disaster zone- there were boxes half opened and product just laying all over the floor. I was greeted by no one, saw no employees while I scoured the food section, and when I went to check out I had to wait for the two employees to finish their conversation before one of them just scanned my products (no 'hi, did you find everything ok,' nada...). The bird cages were not clean and I felt sorry for the cockatiels having to walk around in such dirty cages. It was absolute desperation that brought me in, but I think I'll pass on going again. read more

At around 2 this afternoon I was informed by a friend that while she was at petco there was a dog with white and black curly hair that was rushed out of the grooming center to the vet by his owners, I was also informed that the workers where picking up blood. This is not the first time I've heard these allegations. For all your sakes stop taking your dogs to get groomed at this petco. read more

Worst customer service ever. Andy Merch is the worse. I went to buy some fish on a Sunday 5 min before the closed and he would not help me. I understand you want to go home but you should help your customers if they come in during business. I also think they have a big water problem with there tank. I bough a few fish a few weeks before and everything in my tank died and they blamed it on my tank. After going in today I saw a few tanks that where empty with fish. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE. Heartless and rude. After a year of taking my dog, Boomer, to this location and driving 30 minutes from Vail I have never been so disappointed or upset. I have been taking my goldendoodle to get groomed here every month for the past year. He recently get diagnosed with Lymphoma and has one month to live. I wanted to get him groomed one last time via the express groom so he looked and felt good before I must put him down so I thought I would take him here as I had been a loyal customer. I called and told the grooming department his diagnosis and that I would like to bring him in, they scheduled the appointment after all information was given. Today when I brought him in they refused to groom him because of his diagnosis, although I had called and told them what was going on a head of time. Both the Groomer and Manager were rude and would not accept us even though I made it clear I would stay in Petco during his entire groom to ensure his safety and if anything seemed off I would take him at once. Boomer had his stomach shaved for ultrasounds and they did quite a hack job on him at the ER Vet.. I do not have the tools or skills to clean him up myself, he needed a groomer and now we are stuck without one. Not only will I NEVER come to this location or Petco in general again, I will tell every dog owner my experience and advise taking their pet elsewhere. read more

Grooming was fantastic and Delaine particularly went above and beyond to help with specific needs during multiple visits. I highly recommend this store. Sorry guys your fish selection is poor and your tanks are disgusting. Several dead fish, crickets floating in the water, mis marked tanks some tanks are so full of algae you can hardly see inside. If you tried to at least keep them clean maybe more people would be inspired to have fish. I also know what I have and what fish I want and don't need to be told what or how many fish I can buy. This is real bad policy. Advise people don't talk down to them. When a customer wants 6 fish they expect to get the fish they request! I got three of what I wanted and three I didn't. This is just lazy. Oh and maybe stage a tank with more than just fish to maybe sell some of your tank decorations. At least the store was a little cleaner since the last time I was there. read more

Decent customer service is hard to find these days, but not at this Petco. Adele did a wonderful job helping me out on Sunday. I was a little lost looking for fish for my daughter since she's headed off to college. Adele approached me asking if I needed any help. I sure did! She showed me all the different type of fish they had and helped suggest some college student friendly ones. I ended up getting a little beta for myself as well, I'm not ready to have an empty nest! I am still a little wary of everything with covid as I am getting old and I mentioned this and the fact the store looked so clean compared to the PetSmart in Lakewood. I haven't been in this store for a grooming in 3 years because my dog was traumatized on his last visit. Recently I had heard good things from another large breed owner. Thought I would give them another shot. Took 3 weeks to get an appointment. Today I show up and they ask for his paperwork. What paperwork I ask? Rabies. I ask if his tag is not adequate proof? No, they need the paper. I ask why no one informed me of this when I made the appointment? They asked if I was signed up for texts. No I know nothing about that. Then she asked if I wanted to reschedule. Seriously? What a colossal waste of my time and scheduling my weekend around this. Idiots. read more

8 minutes ago We came in for a cat grooming and cut with Debbie. We came in before she was finished and got to watch some and Debbie handled her so well, very gentle. The cut came out exactly what we wanted despite the fact that we were kind of vague in our description of what we wanted. We actually came in to ask questions a couple times and even called a couple times because of how nervous we were about it (first cut for a young cat). Debbie was extremely accommodating and friendly in the end we are thrilled with the results. We got exactly what we wanted for our cat. She is happy and healthy. Brilliant deshedding, claw trim, and shampooing. And a really cute cut that was exactly what we wanted. I believe that if there were any issues with the cut or grooming Debbie cares enough to fix it. She even offered that If her tail wasnt exactly right we should bring her back for a 5 min trim. We will be back to see her. read more

I normally wash my own dogs, but I have a back injury and can't do it right now. Since mine are outdoorsy with me, there's no sense in getting any of the frills so I asked for a basic bath service when booking my appointment. I ended up charged double for something I didn't even know what it was after the appointment (some extra treatment -- they did quote me the correct basic bath price for the corresponding breeds and weights). I complained and they removed the charge, which I give them credit for doing. But when I got home I noticed the fur on my dogs back was fluffy looking, the way it gets when there's excess undercoat fur ('tis the season) after a bath. I spent an additional 30 minutes at home brushing out my dogs undercoat and there was enough there to overfill the vacuum canister. I suppose for the price it's acceptable (barely), and the groomer was really nice, but next time I need my dogs bathed, I'll find a local groomer that does the job right and pay a little bit more -- and support an independent business in doing so. read more

I was told "We get people that lie to us..." I bet so, only because the adoption process is so incredibly difficult. Like some, I fell in love with a cat at Petco in Dillon. They only get the healthiest animals from Summit County Animal Control, hoping for more exposure. The application itself was lengthy and intrusive. There was no mention of rabies shots being required for my existing animals, but they *did* want pertinent info on them. I thought this was to see if they would get along with a new cat. Thinking this scrutiny is completely illogical, I wondered how many people are simply against vaccinations altogether, since it's not enforced. Absolutely *none* of this was explained by the staff at Petco. Yes, I reached out to their corporate folks, truly begging for help, and only got flippancy and insincerity. I have no desire to ever shop at Petco for my cat food, bedding, litter, etc. for fear of seeing another poor animal, and having my heart ripped out again. Seems Petco has a questionable *special relationship* with the shelter. Their own ethics policies are blatantly ignored! I'm sharing this horrid experience with any pet owner I know, and our local suppliers. Because of how I was treated, I fully believe lots of folks wanting to adopt a pet are emphatically *denied* because management has fabricated rules, and are enforcing personal opinions. Anyone can find these laws on the veterinary extension website, and determine for themselves like I have that it's up to the individual counties to enforce the laws, not the shelters. I should have simply believed the rumors. Now I know why people lie just to adopt a pet. I'm sure anyone reading can find a better, compassionate source to adopt a new family member! read more

I just got my dog groomed 7/13/2018. I recently moved here from Florida and I have a Spinoni. The last time I groomed her my regular groomer butchered her. I was terrified to have her groomed at a retail chain but it had to be done. I was so nervous to pick her up and to my relief she was beautiful. Tammy followed my instructions to a T. We have had our schnauzers and a shi tzu groomed here many times. We've seen only good treatment of our dogs and the others that were there. The grooming jobs done were above average. I've had horrible experiences with at least two " local independents ". So, just because this is a box store, that doesn't make the people that work here any less caring about your pet. Bad first impressions are hard to overcome. Don't let "Yelp" be your first impression of any business or person. read more

When I went in yesterday I was very unhappy with the customer service I received or the lack there of. I came in looking for a few things for my fish tank and a few more fish. I come into the Dillon store quite a bit, so I found the bubble bar and temp strip I was looking for without problem. Then it came time to asking for fish. I walked over to the fish tanks and found the ones I wanted. The store was fairly empty besides me, one other customer, and the workers (2) which were working freight, or being cashier (1). So I wait by the tank for about 5 minutes before a guy in a black shirt walks by me. We make eye contact and I go to start to raise my hand to ask him for help when he quickly looks away and slips into the back of the store. So I figured he was busy and that I'd wait. He comes back out a minute or two later and walks right by without even looking at me this time. After another ten or so minutes he walks by again completely ignoring me this time. At this point I've been in the store for approximately 30 minutes and spent 15 or so just waiting by the fish tanks. So I go find someone which happened to be the cashier who told me I would have to speak with the guy in the black shirt to get some fish. I hesitantly approached him, because he already seemed put out, and I kindly asked " Hey would you mind helping me get a few fish I picked out", to which he flatly replied sure followed by a heavy sigh. I thought that was rude, but whatever, I was going to get my fish finally so I could go home. When we got over to the tanks I pointed out the two tanks I wanted to get from, while he stands there on his phone. He continues standing there for fifteen seconds on his phone not saying a word to me before walking off to get the cup to put fish in. While he's gone I kneeled down to the lower level where I wanted to get the fish from. When he returned he swiftly scooped water out of the tank which caused to fish to tumble, before he aggressively put the cup on the side of the tank in such a manner that the water splashed out and got on my pants and shoes. He didn't acknowledge this at all. Before I can point out which fish I wanted he just started scooping random fish and quickly throwing them into the cup. At this point I ask if he would mind if I picked out the fish, not just grab these random ones. He got upset and sighed again, before grabbing the cup, and just throwing the fish back into the tank. This really upset me. Unfortunately there are no other pet stores that have fish up here, so we are forced to come into this location if we need anything. But to see the way these fish were treated had me irate. I was upset I got abhorrent service, but this was over the top. I ended up telling Ethan never mind and suggested he work on his customer service, before buying my other items, and leaving without what I really went there for. To think this man is the assistant manager at this location is appalling. The way he treated the animals in front of a customer was appalling, and I'm honestly worried about how he treats them when there are no eyes around. I've never had this bad of service and the fact that it came from an assistant manager makes it even worse. read more

The server who wad asked for help blew us off and said she didn't have what we wanted. We later found many of the cages we asked for I a different area misplaced. We had to spend an hour just wandering around trying to find things we wanted in the store. Nothing was organized at all. I would rather drive another 2 hours to Denver then to go back to that petco. read more

The whole staff is wonderful. I always get greeted when I walk in. They make my dog feel welcome and offer him a treat. Brad, Joy and Delaine and staff are very friendly. If I cannot find and item or need help/suggestions they are always willing to help no matter what they are doing. They truly care for every pet, animal and welfare. And it shows! I was in yesterday and witness two customers being completely rude and inappropriate. One manager Joy was trying to help them with fish and the two became a issue because of a policy that the two did not agree with. ( The two made a big scene if front of the whole store.) I want to commend Joy and staff for staying completely professional in that situation. Joy tried to make it better but nothing was going to. I have been going here for years and enjoy the staff and the visit everytime. I hate to see the bad reviews and bad behavior some people have due to a policy a company has that a customer doesn't agree with. This store is clean, well kept, has a wide variety selection and atmosphere is great. Fun to just visit with the family or shop of course. read more

I took my puppy in to be groomed and I was extremely dissatisfied. First off they charged my double what they quoted...simply because she was on the borderline between the price ranges. This should have been explained to me before I left when I dropped her off. Then when I came back they weren't quite done with her so I watched through the window. The employee was yelling at my 5 month old puppy. She was cowering and was clearly terrified. Never again will I take her back to Petco. read more

I've been bringing my 2 dogs here about every 4 weeks, for about 6 months. One had been burned badly by a groomer in the past. Debbie, who is the grooming manager, takes care of them. She is very gentle and very good with dogs. Debbie got my traumatized dog to actually go in happily. I think the prices are fair and the dogs look great. read more

Andrew attempted to cheat me tonight. An agreed upon special order with Brad, Store Manager, was disallowed by Andrew because he didn't want to discount the food. I brought up the price Brad agreed upon, told him 3 times what the prices were, and without informing me, rang up the cat food at full price. (You can't see prices as they're being charged at this Petco of I'd have stopped him), so I paid for the cat food and found he'd overcharged me. I stood in line for 35 minutes while they scratched their heads (he and Joy) trying to get a refund done. I left the store with NO cat food. Joy refused to take my name down for Brad to call me, became hostile because she couldn't figure out the register and after 2.5 weeks wait, my rescue group does not have the needed cat food. They tried to cheat me, then got made when I caught them. Joy wouldn't even give me documentation that I'd paid for the food but was leaving the store with nothing except my credit card receipt. I asked her 4 times to put in writing the transaction was void, and finally she did, but got very mad about it. I've bought cat food for my rescue groups for 40 years. NEVER had an experience like this. Petco is history for our rescue groups!!! It's one thing to be stupid but dishonest and stupid don't set well with me. read more
