Experience was kind of 'meh' for me. I had brought my Cattle Dog in for grooming & they generally seem to do a good job. The last time I went though, I haven't gone back because they changed my dog to a "long hair" dog and upped his weight, which was not correct. He does have longer hair than the typical Cattle Dog, but upon taking him to two other Petco locations, both of them stated he shouldn't have been changed to a long hair dog. The groomer seemed kind of bothered to groom him. The store side is usually well stocked, I think this location is awesome, except grooming is a bit mediocre. read more

We were charged $55 each for a bath and nail trim for my puppies. I booked an appointment for bath and cut and quoted us $78. The groomer basically kept warning us that he may not be able to trim them (this isn't first time they got a cut). It was as if he didn't even try and he asked for a tip! They're actually more personal and helpful at private dog groomers in Bonney Lake, rather than having my dogs shaking and terrified here. Never again will I step foot at this location! The same exact items are for sale now in the store. He said the computer would t let him do it. Ever heard of an "override"? So I did book the appointment yesterday, so I'll give them that it was short notice, but the app let me book it that late, and that's not on me. I booked my dog for a bath and what comes with that, nothing special. She's a white shepherd, so it's not like she needed a bunch of work; really just a wash and a nail trim. Unfortunately, I guess the last person who worked on her put her in as a small dog (she was a puppy) but now that she is a full grown dog, though her weight was correct in the app, the system booked her as a small dog still. The salon called me this morning to let me know all this and that, because small dogs only take 30 minutes, but dogs her size take 2 hours (???) she would not be able to fit her in today. No apology, or anything. She just called to update her information and tell me we needed to rebook a different time. I asked if we could still get her nails trimmed, and she said he could. That was fine with me. I can wash her myself. But then I got there, and she was rude the whole time. First of all, there were plenty of other dogs being groomed, and plenty of groomers there. So it would not have been like they'd all have to stay late to accommodate our original grooming appointment. Secondly, she told me that I'd have to go pay at the front counter, but went in the back to get the lead for my dog. When she came back out, she repeated it as if I was supposed to have gone and done that before she took the dog. When she took the dog back, I went to get a couple of things before getting in line. I didn't take too long, but by the time I got to the line, she was already done and was annoyed that I hadn't gone directly to the line to pay. I have always done this with no issue. So I picked up my dog, and carried my items to the checkout. The cashier asked me if I would like to tip my groomer, I said no. And he said "How much?" And I told him again I did not wish to tip her. He kind of rolled his eyes. Sorry, but I am not tipping someone for a job they clearly rushed and were annoyed to be doing. I did not have a good experience. The only reason they get two stars is because I don't think this was all their fault. The app screwed up, or the last person that groomed her. This is a great standard pet store, and they have most things. But if there's something you need that they don't have they don't offer to find it for you or consider adding it to their inventory. Coconut coir chips for reptiles is a good example. You'll have to find another source. But all in all they're fine. read more

This Petco is terrible in terms of great customer service. We (son and I) arrived a bit early for our dogs' grooming appointment and there was no one to greet us. Two idiotic looking cashier's peeked over but did not say anything, I had to ask if there was anyone in grooming, NO ANSWER!! Then I muddled away around the store looking for someone who could help us check in. A female with oddly colored hair appeared and stated that maybe the groomers were working on a dog (peeked inside) NO GROOMER WAS PRESENT!! Then she stated perhaps they were on lunch. There were NO DOGS in any cages, hinting that they are perhaps desperate for dogs to groom. About 1:02 the same female with oddly colored hair once again appeared and then informed me that I needed to show proof of rabies vaccination for all of my dogs which was a rule under 'Washington state law). Okay, why was I not told this prior to loading up my dogs..... You would think that they would have welcomed my dogs as they were clearly dying for business. In Hawaii, at the Beretania Petco everyone was super nice, super efficient and greeted us with a smile. IN THIS BONNEY LAKE PETCO, CLEARLY everyone appeared to be idiotic robots who don't care nor give a damn about who they service. Sorry but I will be taking my dogs elsewhere for grooming and Petco has lost some very nice sales because my paws are groomed regularly and we tip very nicely!! So tough crap Petco, I will never patronize this store again. We'll drive out of our way to patronize PetSmart. read more

*Warning: location injured my pet* I have had a problem every single time I have booked a grooming appointment with this Petco location. The 1st time, the front counter attendant was so rude to me and my husband that we just left. The 2nd time we booked, our dog was returned to us with bloody paws. Her nails had been trimmed beyond the quick and were very sore to the touch. When we call to inform the store, they advised us to dip her nails in flour to stop the bleeding. We were offered a discount for our next grooming to make it up. I was told the groomer had bad eye sight (WTH?!) and that her glasses must've made it hard to see the dog's nails. Our third grooming was fine, not the best haircut but I was able to trim the long patches myself to even it out. I pre booked our next appointment for 6 weeks out, that appointment was cancelled with very little notice. I was told I wouldn't been seen for several weeks for a full groom, so I downgraded the service to get in sooner. That appointment was also canceled with almost no notice. They called several days later to reschedule and asked if I wanted to switch back to a full groom and I said yes and was told I would receive a discount for the trouble! My husband goes to drop her off this morning and they say she is booked for the reduced service, which is not true because the person who rescheduled me was her groomer that day. She agrees to give the full haircut instead, but made it an unpleasant experience. I go to pick her up and they have added an additional package on to her grooming service without permission. My dog has never received this premium plus grooming package before and we didn't want it. The manager Ben (same person who told me I'd be getting a discount) came up to the counter to handle the inproper billing issue. He never spoke to me or apologized for how poorly I was being treated, but gave me a small discount and walked away. I asked to see my dog prior to paying and they refused to bring her out, probably because they knew I wouldn't pay for the hack job Ali gave her. SHE WAS COMPLETELY SHAVED. My dog is a Maltese, Yorkie, Poodle mix with no matting, there was no reason for her to be shaved, nor did we sign the shaving hair waiver. She then proceeds to tell me that my dog gets aggressive when they touch her feet, if she would have taken 2 seconds to read the notes, she would've known she had been injured by them before and might be afraid. I have done my darndest to make this work with this location but I've had it. They treat people just as poorly as they treat the animals and I will NEVER subject my dog to it again. Terrible grooming experience for my small dog. I was told it would be around three hours, but heard nothing from them at hour four. I called and was told she was almost done. I arrived to see she was just being trimmed and walked around to pass the time because I knew it would be a bit longer. An hour later, she still wasn't done. This turned out to be a six hour experience for her and that is not okay. Besides the time, her coat was no more than a quarter inch shorter. Her tail was cut at the end, but nothing underneath. I don't think she was treated very well as she wasn't herself for a few days after. I knew better than to go to a chain company and regret my optimism. read more

The grooming center is very aweful! They rush to cut the nails of my Italian greyhound and when they are finished the nails are still very long. This happens every time and I pay $15. The girl that was "helping me" was in a rush to get to lunch and couldn't get my dog in for a nail trim so I had to make an appointment. Megan went above and beyond for me today! I appreciate her excellent customer service and helpfulness. I have a 16 year old leopard gecko, Molly, so I am not new to getting crickets. After being out of town Molly was very hungry when I got home. I usually stop by Federal Way but Bonney Lake was on my way home. I asked for a dozen large crickets and they said that they just received the shipment. Instead of turning me away until they had time to open it (cough, Federal Way Petco), Megan told me to hold on and went back and got them for me! This is completely dishonest business practice and is false advertising! If i could give zero stars, i would! we just wanted to adopt a cat, but to our surprise there was NONE! This made us sad. Then we thought maybe we'd check out the beta fish and we discovered A DEAD FISH!! we named him frederick and payed our respects. #RIPfredrick !! After that traumatic experience, we checked out the birds and there was two birds fighting. Our theory was that they were married because they kept kissing then they'd swing so i hope they don't divorce but the relationship seemed toxic. I am discouraging ANYONE from paying for training classes provided by PETCO. I was a loyal returning customer in years previous. I've taken 3 puppies through the training with Petco and I was happy with the service provided. But This time I am the furthest from satisfied you could be. First off I had to try over and over to pay for the group online. Their payment processing wouldn't work for 4 days straight (maybe a sign from God I shouldnt have kept trying because man I regret the effort and time and money I spent to get these training classes. The First group the trainer talked about herself and did basically no training and then sent me home with a sheet of paper telling me what I needed to teach my dog over the next week as " homework" with little explaining. If I wanted to have to figure out how to train my dog all on my own I'd of saved my money and watched YouTube videos which is ultimately what I've resorted to doing and they have been WAY MORE INFORMATIVE AND FREE! I contacted customer service and requested a partial refund since I had gone to some "training" but after numerous attempts to get help resolving I again contacted requesting a full refund and expressing my absolute disappointment with the company's response and services. To which I have still after 3 weeks received ABSOLUTELY NO RESPONSE WHATSOEVER. What's worse is I bought multiple training classes at the same time so not only have I lost money but I've lost a large amount of money for a ton of training my puppy isn't going to receive. I can't speak for every Petco location but I warn against putting your hard earned money into specifically the BONNEY LAKE WASHINGTON location with trainer KIM. I never write reviews but I've never experienced the worst customer service before. I made an appointment for my dog about two and a half weeks ago. The lady said I needed to bring in his rabies vaccination card when I made the appointment. It just so happens that it was snowing today and he has long fur. When we arrive, I start checking him in and the clerk asked for his vaccination card. I had forgotten it in the car and asked if she could hold him. She said no unfortunately not - this I totally understood, my fault. So we walk back out to my car, getting more slush all over us, grab the card and brought it in. She looks at it for about 5 minutes and takes it to the back and says I'm sorry theirs no expiration date on it so we can't take him. I said he's not due until next March and April for shots. She said it's store policy. I then said, well he was born November 2021, received his vaccine in March so that puts it at March 2023. She bluntly said sorry it's company policy. I head back out to my car and find his rabies gold medal that says 2022 on it and brought it back in and asked if this helps. She said no unfortunately theirs no expiration date on it. Mind you, she has no customer service skills, no smile, no sincere apologies, nothing - just "it's company policy". So I call and ask for a manager, and the gentleman that answered said I am, so I start giving my feedback about offering better customer service and he says wait let me transfer you to another manager. I get transferred, a woman answers so I start telling the story again and she says oh I'm just a groomer, let me get you to a manager. I finally get the salon manager. I reviewed the facts with her about how he's only 1 month and 1 year old and how I didn't fill out his vaccine card, the veterinarian clinic did. She admitted that she glanced at it but then started telling me a story of a long time customer who that just happened too. She was giggling or doing a nervous laughter thing that I thought was very unprofessional. She tried to accommodate a time but I am working 6 days a week all mid shifts 55+ hours. I've taken him to other groomers before and have never had a problem. I understand policy but I work for a company that we bend over backwards for our customers. She even stated that her clerk has had attitude problems in the past with customers. Why is she not working to improve on this? Do you not care about customer service? I understand policies but sometimes delivering your policy with a smile and sincerity goes a long way. I also believe in simple math and calendars. My dog is not a time traveler... read more

Worst customer service!! made an appointment over two weeks ago so my dog get groomed before Christmas and they asked for his age when I made the appointment I let them know he was 18 but healthy they said no problem scheduled the appointment for the 21st on Wednesday (tomorrow) they called me the day before his appointment five days before Christmas to tell me they don't take dogs over the age of 10 then when I asked for an explanation she gave me none and I asked why she didn't call me earlier when I made the appointment two weeks in advance and now there's nowhere with grooming openings she didn't say a word so I repeated myself once again said nothing got no apology or explanation then they hung up on me now it's five days before Christmas and my dog doesn't have an appointment. read more

I usually buy my dog food from amazon but on the last minute I come here and buy dog food. Sometimes it can be more expensive and sometimes I save some $$$. But on a time crunch it works Also since one of my dogs is a Maltese/terrier mix I groom her and she gets cold very easily and shivers all the time she loves the heat she even sunbathes during the day if the sun is out. But here being fall I catch her shivering more times then I can count so I headed to Petco with her and we bought her some clothes I'm not usually a dog clothing type of person but because of the circumstances I had to buy a few tops for her. Petco had enough options for her a bit expensive but hey sometimes you just gotta spend the $$$ on your fur baby. The lines weren't bad each time I came in here and it seems it's never really busy so that is a plus. Have no idea how the grooming service is since I groom my babies myself. And yes my dogs love coming to Petco!! read more

This location seems to be cleaner then some of the other pet stores I've been to. The big plus is they carry my dogs very hard to find food, so when I'm in the area, I always stop in and pick up a few cans. There's a young female employee here that made an excited 5 year old girl cry because she convinced the girl and her mother to not buy a $0.17 goldfish + fishbowl that she had always wanted and saved her money up for. Repeatedly told her it was going to die immediately. I was waiting for goldfish too since my old fish had died and she tried giving me the same spiel about how the tank I already own doesn't have enough good bacteria and they'll die immediately. It came to the point of "do your job and put the fish in the bag". This was a month ago and my fish are still alive. Plus they don't have fancy rats, I love those little squeakers. read more

She did what I asked, trimming the nails as close as possible, which I did appreciate! I had several issues with this groomers last year (miscommunications about appointment times, not answering phones or returning calls, long wait times at counter with no help, and even some incident that scared my pup away from groomers for a while--details are unclear and vague since they don't have cameras in all areas of the grooming salon). I spoke to managers and worked out some issues but I still decided not to go back. This month, however, I got desperate and had to use them or else bathe my dog myself. (Next time, I will just do it myself.) This is because I arrived early to my appointment (about 2:45 instead of 3:15) and was told I had to wait until EXACTLY 3:15. At the Puyallup Petco, they would take my pup and kennel her until time as long as it was within a reasonable amount of time. Bonney Lake is a firm time. No leeway. Except they expect you to be there within 10 mins or they will cancel your appointment. Customer service was very poor. Clerks at the counter made me wait about 15-20 mins before alerting grooming clerk I was waiting. Why is there not a bell or a way for grooming to know someone is waiting? I'm nervous about leaving my pup as it is, due to her last bad experience. Groomer I spoke to was a bit rude. Will not be using again. read more

We had an appointment at noon to have our 5 month old Newfoundland puppy to get her first grooming experience. She is our baby and is only kenneled at night to sleep. We were told she would be done around 3 o'clock. We went there at 3 and was told her groomer had gone to lunch and only she could release her. They claimed to not know her status. We left without her only to get a call a half hour later saying it would be at least another hour. They had not even touched her yet!! At this point she had been kenneled for OVER 3 hours!! This is NOT OK!!! I told them to not touch her and we would be right there to pick her up. She was SO scared she was shaking. I will NEVER take an animal there again or recommend anyone to do so. read more

Product selection is good, but their grooming services and dog training traumatized my dog. Every time I brought him in he reacted by trying to run back out of the store and was obviously extremely stressed. I now have to take him to the vet to handle his high anxiety and seemingly PTSD from their poor groomers and poorly trained trainers. Would not recommend their services to anyone and have never been back to their store. I spend my money in Mud Bay or Pet Pros for all my dog's needs now, probably get better quality items from them anyway. read more

I got a guinea pig from here and not only did the people selling the pigs know actually anything about guinea pigs, they sold me supplies that were all too small, forgot to tell me about any vitamins or anything, vaguely mentioned the possibility of a respiratory infection and nothing on how to prevent them, and said this exact sentence "it's just like a hamster but bigger. AND didn't tell me that I should be getting two to avoid my guinea pig getting depressed. Then they did not inform me (granted it is written on the receipt itself, but in very small letters that are never fully printed properly) that if I lost my receipt they can't do anything to help me with my pig because they only have an in store record that they don't keep very long. All in all my I was out an extra 150 dollars for supplies that were too small, leaked, or just weren't okay to sell for a guinea pig. They even sold me a ball for my pig and when I brought it back before I had used it because it was cracked the guy who was returning it informed me that they shouldn't have sold me a ball because it's terrible for their backs. Will never go to a Petco again. My guinea pig has been consistently sick with vet bills and all since I got him 2 months ago. Vet says I'm doing nothing wrong and I've had the vet look at my pig (a different vet then they partner with at this location) and his cage. They honestly just have sickly animals. read more

If you have a poodle DO NOT take it here. I have an 8 lb toy poodle who is my service dog. My husband made the apt, was told to bring her in at 1:00 pm and it would take 4 hours. When my husband called at 5:15 he was told she wasn't done and to come in just before 7:00 pm. That means she would be there for 6 hours. It wasn't her regular groomer. She was sick. We got there at 10 minutes to 7:00. Saw my little dog on the grooming table. She had not been touched. Wished we had just taken her back home. We waited. We saw the groomer with her at the counter dealing with someone else. The next time we looked she was grooming another dog. We thought she was done. We went up to the counter. The male groomer ask who we were picking up then he got a weird look on his face. He went and told the groomer and she had that "oh crap" look on her face. She continued to groom the other dog then finally went in the back. I thought to get my dog. She came out and said she needed 20 minutes to finisher her. By the time she came out with her they had turned off the lights and locked the doors. I looked at my poor little dog. She looked like the groomer had used a weed eater on her. Nothing I asked to be done was done. She also cut off all the long hair on her ears. I ask her why she did that then she LIED Sha said they were matted. I told her they were not as I had brushed them out myself last night. She has the nerve to say we'll it ok. She knew she messed up big time and she asked if we had paid my husband said no. Then she said no charge. What she didn't know and 3 of us saw it was she didn't start the clipping until 10 minutes to 7:00. She also tried to blame it on my little dog. How could she do this when she started it so late and we saw her. I don't know if she even bathed her. But it says to me that she left my sweet baby in a cage for 6 hours. I have anxiety and panic disorder do to brain damage. When I get to upset I have very hard time talking. Wish I could have told her what I was thinking. I hope she reads thiis. She knows who she is. She should be ashamed of herself for lying. She tried to cover it up and said when I felt better to bring her back and she would fix her. You can't fix her ears. You cutting off her hair was like breaking someone's worry beads. I will never set foot in that store again. If she was any kind of woman, she would women up and make an apology. The grooming services prices are NOT AS ADVERTISED. The prices charged are more than twice those advertised on their web page. And, after we agreed to the pricing, they promised our 2 dogs in 2 1/2 or 3 hours. We returned after 3 1/2 hours and they were almost finished with one. We were told to return in another 2 hours. It has now been 3 hours, and they are not finished. We did not ask for anything other than a straight cut - same length overall. We are going to have to drive for 1/2 hour to get to the store, where we will demand the dogs, whether they are finished or not. We will not use this service again. read more
