I've been a loyal customer at Petco Store #1964 in Allen Park for years. I paid $75.99 for grooming, but after the service, Grooming Manager Kirsten G. and Store Manager Rachael tried to enforce a hand-written $20 "late pickup fee" that was not listed in the contract or posted anywhere. When I asked about it, they said it would be "rude to mention the late fee prior to service," which made no sense. Despite my long history as a customer, they refused to waive the fee, and I was threatened with criminal charges for refusing this undisclosed charge. This was extremely unprofessional and egregious. Came to drop off my dog and witnessed an employee stick a razor in another dogs mouth that she claims was "aggressive" and also claimed they are told to stick the back of the razor in the dogs mouth which i do not understand how that would help the dog. I went here with my friend a day ago, I always refused to go to per stores like this due to them not caring for their animals properly. the fish department was terrible-- in ONE enclosure alone there is NUMEROUS sick / convulsing and dead fish. I watched one swim around, violently convulse and then SLAM into the ground of this tank. A worker was told and she didn't seem to care at all, all she continued doing is trying to defend herself even though no one attacked her verbally. She said she would check and see if she could do anything for him, we watched from a distance and she did not. the reason being told for why is because apparently they get sent over UPS trucks to their store. Then it changed to they may not be used to the water yet--so they didn't properly acclimate them. Heads up if you get a fish from this horrible company, there might have been dead and sick fish surrounding your new friend. read more

Trash! The groomer Tiffany at the Allen Park Michigan location is a sneaky little witch! She knows she hurt my baby that's why she wouldn't come out to the counter. When Melissa was there I had no problems. Took my pup to Melissa twice and Sebastian was fine. Unfortunately I let Tiffany groom him and it was absolutely TERRIBLE!!!!! All these cuts on my baby. His skin is irritated, he's lying around not doing anything. He's a spunky dog he's never like this. Like wth did you do to my baby? I'm sure he was crying the whole time. I would too if someone's cutting my skin. He's been shaking ever since, looks scared all the time. He's traumatized!! The fact that the other ladies heard him and didn't try to intervene is heartless. Another strange thing I noticed as well as others was that his eyes were VERY glossy. Then he was trying to walk towards me but he just stood there for about two minutes just starring. He was in a daze. I know she drugged my dog but I can't prove it. People who hurt animals are pure evil. This place needs to be shutdown. I hope karma comes at her ten times worse for what she did to my baby. I'm NEVER going back. She literally tortured my dog. These chain places hire these unprofessional ass people that has less than a year's experience. They don't care about your pets. Half of them look like they hate their job anyway. So imagine someone like that grooming your pet. The pictures I took are nothing compared to how it looks in person. Update: Took my baby to the vet. Now he's on medications for infection and pain. The little witch basically tortured my dog was hurting him while doing his anal glands which I didn't ask for. He's been in so much pain he can't even sit on his butt. Then his skin is literally hot touch as if he's on fire. You can see the redness and cuts on him. She broke his skin as well which of course caused him to bleed. This is why he's been crying, scared and shaking. She traumatized the hell out of my dog. One of the managers Eddie had the nerve to tell me he hasn't gotten any complaints about Tiffany however, she's not the best groomer either. Well why in the hell is she there? No one will call back. He said Rachael would call me and she never did. Trash!! Then I called corporate no one called me back either. This company is trash and abuse animals. They hire incompetent people to do the job. I am highly upset for what she did to him. He's a puppy how dare you. People who hurt animals are sick individuals. Finally spoke with Rachael they agreed to pay his vet bills as they should. And Of course, (which I saw coming) she stuck up for Tiffany made it seem like she's this wonderful person and that she cares for dogs. I'm not buying it! The girl is sneaky!! Then she said the other ladies told her that Sebastian didn't move at all that he was quiet. That's a damn lie! When that lady called me to pick him up she said Tiffany told her he was jumpy and he's not used to a new groomer. Straight bs! He did excellent with Melissa. Dogs can sense things so it's something about that girl. He didn't feel comfortable with her. But they lied to the manager. Either her or someone else got irritated with him being jumpy and gave him something. Why not just call me to pick him up and I could've taken him elsewhere. Instead she skinned him like a chicken. Service and staff were friendly and helpful. The only problem I had was cleanliness in some aisles. And they need air fresheners or a better air ventilation system in the store, because the first thing I noticed was the smell. A nice variety of premium cat foods and toys. Shelves are well stocked and I found the item that I was looking for. Pricing is not very competitive with other stores or online shopping. wish they can do something about that. read more

The employees at this location are extremely nice and I've never had any problems, though reading Nikki's review makes me very uneasy with leaving my baby girl there unattended. That being said, I love Petco simply because I can bring my doberman in the store with me! It's a great way to get her out of the house and used to being around strangers and other animals that she doesn't know. I recently got a hamster and all of his set up at Petco and he seems to be doing great. I buy my dobermans limited ingredient food here seeing as she's allergic to everything under the sun.. I'm so thankful that Petco carries something in the store that she can eat otherwise Idk what I'd do! They are great about taking back returns. They don't ask questions and they take it back even if it's open! They pretty much have mostly everything you need to take care of your pet and its a great one stop shop! So 2 thumbs up for Petco! Ok,, what is Petco? It's one of a big giant box stores that sells pets, pet items and pet food. Yes you can buy some of the pet things in the supermarkets, but these guys have A LOT more variety. Specially when we're talking about all OTHER type of pets. That would be beyond the feline and the canine varieties. We usually come here when we want to spoil our dog with their wide variety of Kong toys and pretty good selection of collars. Seems my boyfriend could never resist a cute collar on our doggie. We usually walk around inside to see all the other pets they sell. We particularly like seeing the reptile selection cause they're super cool. We choose to shop here because they do good stuff for the community such as the donated doggie park in corktown that our doggie frequents. Yes it all the same as all the other petco's, service was good and it was a pleasure purchasing items for our doggie. Thank you Petco, I love you so much. Weeeeeeeeeee! read more

On the whole, I like this store for most of my pets' needs. I rarely need assistance. However, my puppy had her dew claws removed and was spayed recently. Since she is a Doberman, fitting her with a cone was difficult. I asked someone for help. When I asked for help fitting her, I said, "she had her dew claws removed and was spayed. I am looking for a cone that will be long enough for the length of her snout and neck, but small enough for her neck size". The response that I got was "I don't understand what you are asking. Dewclaws?" I repeated myself and she replied, "snout? I don't understand." Seriously woman??? You work at a pet store and you have no idea what dewclaws and snouts are?? Luckily Petsmart on Ford road said without hesitation, "Dobermans are one of those breeds that are really hard to fit" but, let's see what we can figure out. Fast forward one week later: today, I ordered some stuff online to pick up in the store. When I got there, the one cashier was busy with a customer. Even though his transaction was complete, the customer continued talking. It wasn't a big deal. Well, the dumb-dumb woman from last week went to another register and opened the drawer (I think she may be a manager, doesn't say much for Petco's standards) I went to her and said, "I placed an order online to pick up." She said, with attitude, "ok?". I then said that I didn't know where to go to pick it up. She didn't even look up when she pointed to the cashier that the customer was talking to. Really???? Are you that lazy and rude???? I think that I will drive the extra couple of miles to Petsmart from now on. Decent service, cat section could be larger, they carry Capstar flea pills. Went here looking for food, a scratching post, and a brush for my new kittens. I thought the place was a-ok. Half of the very large store is devoted to dogs, which makes sense. But the bird section is almost as large as the cat section, as is the fish section, as is the rodent section. I almost wish they devoted more space to cats. Their food section appears large, but actually, it's only maybe 4 or 5 brands of food, despite the large variety within each brand. I care less for the specialized varieties than I do having choice between brands, because if the brand is selling filler-food, all their varieties are irrelevant. The prices were a little higher than a Target or Walmart, BUT, those stores only carry the equivalent of kitty junk food. Better to spend a little more on food. On the scratch pad/toys, they are much more expensive than the megastores, but they have more variety. I spent maybe 6 dollars more for a scratch post here, but THANKFULLY, one of my two kittens is enamored and plays with it constantly. I got a brush for a few bucks more than Target, and it was the only purchase I regretted. Should've gone back to Target for a cheaper brush. Also, they carry CapStar flea pills which are non-prescription pills you can give your pet instead of that topical flea gel, which the animals seem to hate on their skin. CapStar can be hard to find, so take note if you're interested in that flea treatment alternative. Lastly, while I could not find a single employee walking the floor when I needed one, I did find the cashier incredibly helpful when I brought all my questions to her at checkout time. It could have been useful a little earlier on in my visit, but nevertheless, I'm thankful for the advice on how to choose a good can of food for kittens. read more

Typical big box pet store. I mainly go here to get dog food for my pooch. He loves his "Blue Buffalo" brand food, which I buy from Petco. Price for BB is about ~50 bucks for the 30lb bag. Petco offers a frequent buyer card, so if I buy 10 bags of dog food, I get the 11th free (I believe), which isn't bad considering my dog needs to always eat :) They have pet toy specials here usually after major holidays, where you can grab discounted chew toys following xmas or easter. read more

So I go to this Petco pretty regularly. I used to go to their bi-weekly dog playtimes with Trainer Mike (who is awesome, by the way). I'm not sure of the current schedule, but there used to be a small dog party every other week and a big dog party on the alternating weeks. The dogs have a BLAST running and playing together (well supervised by Mike). He helped shy dogs get acclimated with the group setting. He also helped over-protective parents let go a bit and watch their dog have a little fun. Mike also holds classes for training, etc. The schedules are listed in the store. I also pretty regularly take my dog here to get her nails trimmed. It's a quick walk-in service. I keep her records updated there (when she gets her shots, I just fax the certificate to the store and they update her file) and we walk in, I leave her with the groomer, then go into the store and pay, and by the time I'm done, she's done. She can get pretty jittery, though, as she doesn't like for her paws to be handled... add on the fact that her mommy is dropping her off and *gasp* walking away! Well, one time, I went for the nail trim and after I paid, I went back into the groomer door and stayed hidden so she wouldn't see me and freak out. Well, while staying hidden in the entrance corridor, I heard a male employee talking to her, to calm her down. He was saying her name, petting her, etc... then he said "do you want to lick my _____?" and laughed. o_O Now, this wasn't the guy who was cutting her nails -- this was a guy from the floor that was asked to come in and help calm her down while the groomer guy was cutting. I froze -- I didn't know what to say, how to react or if I should react, so I didn't. I regret it now. When it sounded like the cut was over, I came out of the corridor and the guy (who made the offensive comment to my dog) said "Are you _____'s mom?" I just said yes... took my girl (from the guy that actually did the cutting) and left. I wish I had said something... either to him or a manager. Moving on... there are also pet adoption activities from time to time, as well as low cost vaccinations. They have these events advertised within the store. They honor coupons and it's best to join Petco P.A.L.S. for additional savings. read more

I take my dog to the grooming salon and everyone there is great. Shelby and the others really care about the animals. When I go in to get my reef supplies, someone from the front of the store asks about my dog. The store also has frequent animal adoptions. I look, but I line in a condo, so no more dogs for me. I recommend this store, they are a big store, but they treat you like a small store. I want to the groomers on Allen RD, but they would not take my dog at regular dates, and it is very dirty. read more

Groomer excellent ( those people go thru alot, with getting bit by dogs, and dealing with they're picky little owners) I seen some shit today that made me say " Seriously" I applaud them, and Debbie did a WONDERFUL on my little one. I almost had a problem w/ the manager when, i made a return on a leash just because i changed my mind ( and found one for wayy less money) when she asked for an ID to do a return.. are u fucking kidding me?
