The dogs aren't caged up when they are waiting to be groomed, they have an open play area where they can socialize, my puppy just loves it and she is so much more sociable with other dogs since going there. That is not all, the quality of the service is a bargain for what you pay. Cally and her colleges do a wonderful job at grooming my puppy and Cally (who used to be a vet nurse) also picked up that my puppy had an ear infection, which I was unable to identify myself, which in the long run has saved me a ton in vet bills as I was able to treat her immediately. Met up with one of the groomers from Whoopsys, Cosi who was shocked at the state of his coat after a few weeks when the hair has only grown back in patches leaving patches still bald. She told me to call and make an appointment and she would fix it up but when I called I spoke to someone who was quite rude, said they had no appointments until the new year and that it was normal for it to grow back like that. I told her I didn't want him shaved again and she said it would be the same so I told her to forget it because in the middle of summer I didn't want his skin exposed as he would burn. Not impressed and I'm sure Cosi won't be told that I had followed up and called.

(Public holidays they are open from 10-4). One store is dedicated to all things fish, birds and reptiles - including the live animals themselves. Prices here are really good and the animals are well looked after. The fish tanks are clean and the staff are really good at chasing down the exact specimen you want for your new pet. The second store is for kittens, puppies, small animals and grooming needs. They provide a grooming service here but I have never utilized that. While meandering around their pet toys you can hear the sound of puppies playing and kittens purring - nothing like the kind of pet store where the animals are asleep in tiny boxes. The staff are happy to let you have a hold or a play with the animals. In terms of pet accessories these guys have everything. Albeit groovy dog collars, piles of pet food, mirrors for your birdcage or all manner of fish tanks - you are bound to find it here. They even have a Do It Yourself coin operated dog wash in their store which is always a lot of splashy fun - depending on how well behaved your dog is. Lucky for owners of escape artists it has a reasonably tall gate that prevents your dog from jumping out. I recommend keeping the lead on just in case. I've used the dog bath at the back of the store a few times and it's really handy. The store has an excellent selection of dry foods and refrigerated meats plus loads of dog treats. Watch your dog if you're walking around the store with them - a little tempting! I've had to purchase a couple of treats unintentionally. I don't really go to the other part of the store with the birds and fish. I like that they now have pet adoption, which I think they have had for a while but I only noticed a few months ago.

City Pets isn't like other pet stores, sure there are animals inside but I haven't ever seen any puppies and I've seen kittens there once - and that was a couple of years ago. City Pets has rabbits, guinea pigs, fish and birds. What City Pets is good for is stocking up on supplies for your companion. Enormous mounds of dog and cat food, beds and travel houses of all shapes and colours, and a deli devoted to different bones and catnip mice are all found here. The staff there are pretty friendly and don't seem to mind if you just have a browse through the stock and check out the animals. There are also some mice and hermit crabs up the back and City Pets always seems to have a great little range of canaries, finches and budgies.

When I picked up my dog an hour later after clipping there was no explanation or apology. They happily charged me $65 and let me have the dry doggie treat I chose for free (20c). I've been there a few times but they never remember my name or My dog. I can tell they are not really pet lovers at all, but just see every customer like a walking wallet.
