They apparently become the leader in the non-promotion of pet and livestock sales in a retail environment. But I didn't really know that when I went into this store. There are only so many times I can drive past a pet shop without going in. Firstly, to see what…read morethey have, and secondly, to see whether I should hate them for selling pets. Nunawading Birds and Pets have a huge huge range of Birds. I'm terrified of birds. To add to that, they seem to know I'm terrified of them and they go out of their way to spook me. Walking past the cages they flew at me, glaring at me with their little evil eyes. It was like something out of a Hitchcock movie. Okay, so maybe I'm blowing this out of proportion, but it's not my cup of tea. If you like birds, you'd probably love this place.

It was closing time so I explained I'll organise a cage and I'll call tomorrow to pick him up.. I called the store after I found a cage and was told someone came in and bought him 10 minutes ago. Ok I was very pissed of I asked who bought him he lied said a random person of the street. The next day I called the store again and was told that the original owner bought the bird back and that if I wanted it the price was $500 now originally told price was $375. Anyway I glad I didn't buy anything from this shop they don't have the birds in clean and sanitary cages and the place stunk. I would not recommend this business to your worst enemy

Each visit I was made to believe that I was getting this huge discount which I was made to feel grateful for. But this place cost me a fortune . The receptionist was very sweet. But she directed me to give the wrong medication to my pup and I had to correct her. When I finally took my pup to another vet, they gave him the full bill of health. What I love about this pet shop, is after a nice chat with the manager, we learned he refuses to display kittens or backyard breeder cats "for sale" and rather, helps Animal Aid with adult cat rescue adoptees that need forever homes. After meeting with little Dante, we adopted him and he has been the sweetest cat. They welcome dogs on leashes into their stores, cater to dogs, cats, birds and fish. They offer grooming and classes. They also offer some really good loyalty rewards for repeat business and you can tell they're passionate about pets and pet care. They have several business and pet industry awards and it shows. Another chain pet store has opened up across the street, so I hope that doesn't hurt Claws'N'Paws' business. If you're in the area, please go visit them!

I have been taking my dogs there for as long as I can remember and have always received exemplary service. There are currently four vets and six nurses on staff and they are always really friendly. They treat all kinds of animals including dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, reptiles, rodents, guinea pigs and ferrets. They provide general check-ups as well as more generalized services like radiology, ultrasound and surgery. My dogs tend to love it because they get given treats from their favourite vet Dr. Kent Marshall. He has treated all three of my dogs over the years and always remembers my family when we turn up for various problems like getting the sock my dog swallowed removed from his tummy - yep, that was an embarrassing visit! The clinic has a yard around it where dogs can have one last toilet stop before their appointment and stretch their legs. Inside there is a waiting room, which gets pretty lively when there are a lot of pets. There are pet toys and accessories available for sale in here as well as pet food. Behind the counter is well stocked with various medications that you may purchase upon recommendation from one of the trusted vets. Vaccinated puppies aged between eight and sixteen weeks are eligible to participate in four-week long puppy school. At only $77 for a four week course taught by the really nice vet nurses this is awesome value and your puppy will have a heap of fun meeting the other dogs. Covered in colourful cartoon murals this place is really fun to go to as a kid and animal lovers will enjoy the short interactions with different kinds of pets in the waiting room. The clinic operates from Monday to Friday 8am - 8pm, Saturday 8am-3pm and Sunday 10am-12noon. They are closed on Christmas Day and Good Friday.

(Public holidays they are open from 10-4). One store is dedicated to all things fish, birds and reptiles - including the live animals themselves. Prices here are really good and the animals are well looked after. The fish tanks are clean and the staff are really good at chasing down the exact specimen you want for your new pet. The second store is for kittens, puppies, small animals and grooming needs. They provide a grooming service here but I have never utilized that. While meandering around their pet toys you can hear the sound of puppies playing and kittens purring - nothing like the kind of pet store where the animals are asleep in tiny boxes. The staff are happy to let you have a hold or a play with the animals. In terms of pet accessories these guys have everything. Albeit groovy dog collars, piles of pet food, mirrors for your birdcage or all manner of fish tanks - you are bound to find it here. They even have a Do It Yourself coin operated dog wash in their store which is always a lot of splashy fun - depending on how well behaved your dog is. Lucky for owners of escape artists it has a reasonably tall gate that prevents your dog from jumping out. I recommend keeping the lead on just in case. This is a really great store for pet lovers and staff turnaround here is pretty slow so if you are a regular you will be greeted by name. Highly recommend this one.

I've used the dog bath at the back of the store a few times and it's really handy. The store has an excellent selection of dry foods and refrigerated meats plus loads of dog treats. Watch your dog if you're walking around the store with them - a little tempting! I've had to purchase a couple of treats unintentionally. I don't really go to the other part of the store with the birds and fish. I like that they now have pet adoption, which I think they have had for a while but I only noticed a few months ago.

Not only that, the staff seem to know their stuff when it comes to asking questions about products, and often they have a personal anecdote and recommendation about what they do for their own pets. I've got a decent number of pets - two Bengal cats, a fairly young puppy, and a turtle named Neil. As you would imagine, I spend a bit of cash when it comes to looking after them all. Since Petstock opened in Vermont South, they've saved me a small fortune - as much as 25% on some items, and that's not on sale either. And thanks to them, Neil gets a steady stream of feeder fish instead of (or sometimes in addition to) those horrible frozen fish pellets. Neil likes the fish so much that he's adopted two of them, and one of those is now nearly big enough to need his own tank. If you're a breeder of domestic pets (my wife and I used to breed Bengals), they stock super large bags (like 15-25kg) of cat and dog food, and if they don't have it, they're happy to order it in. They also offer services like puppy school, and they have a good rewards program for loyal customers.

Since I've had a puppy, I've been buying her food at this shop and it's all been a bit of an adventure. See, she's a fussy little bitch. It has taken about five different types of dry dog food before she's found one that she likes. That would normally be a massively expensive exercise, considering I'm buying the good stuff. But Petstock Vermont South has been extremely helpful. All I need to do is return the opened package and they'll exchange it without cost to me (except when there's a price differential). They'e made me quite a fan. That is customer service.
