The proprietor of the store welcomed me in and has a great demeanor. I walked in just 10 minutes before closing, and it was so nice for him not to rush me. I wanted a birthday treat for my doggie, and he oriented me to all the food selection that was in there. Helpfully, he pointed me to a cupcake, appropriately small for my 12 lb schnoodle. After asking for me to share photos of my dog, he packed the cupcake with a free candle and extra homemade treats. I felt taken care of, which is much more than I could've hoped for. They've been in Sparta for almost five years, and before that they were at Lake Mohawk. Service and experiences like this deserve your patronage.

I had an appointment up the road and came back after I was done. I had left a message with my dog's dermatologist regarding a supplement (Adored Beast) recommended by the salesman at Well Bred. I had some questions regarding antlers. My dogs had 2 different experiences from 2 different sources. The first pair of antlers broke after 2 or so weeks. The second pair never broke but have worn down significantly. I mentioned that the previous antlers were whole and approximately 7-8 inches long. He asked, "How large are the dogs?", "Are they aggressive chewers?" A puppy, 35 lbs..., and a 2-year-old, 55 lbs. They are aggressive chewers, in my opinion. The man suggested split antlers in the largest size, "more bang for the buck," he added. I happily paid the exorbitantly high price of $80 and change for the pair. Fortunately, I monitored them while they worked on the antlers. Approximately 10 minutes later, they had each broken huge, pointy shards off the antlers. This is not normal. The price aside, why would Well Bred sell something so potentially dangerous? Why would anyone be encouraged to buy something that could have very well landed my dogs in the emergency room? I called the next day and spoke to a woman I believe to be the manager. She apologized profusely and suggested maybe I should consider a more appropriate chew object for my dogs. Oh really? That's why I came to your store and had a lengthy discussion with your sales person. The last antlers I bought NEVER broke. I was told they are not supposed to. I no longer trust the advice of the sales help at Well Bred on any topic. The star is for a neat and clean store.

I love going into this little shop simply because they are dog friendly and EVERY time I stop in I get to meet some cute pups. The women running this place are absolutely great and they are SOOOO helpful. The stuff in here is very cool too, stuff for dogs and cats with friendly customer service...the only downside to the store is that it is a bit small so they don't have a ton of room for inventory...they also don't sell big bags of food (not enough room). It's kind of like a dog boutique. Very cool...I love stopping in here, and you will too!

I honestly believe the groomers have potential and should be trained better. But if you honestly aren't comfortable doing a dog's haircut, i rather the honesty and not the mess up. I have a bernedoodle and asked to have him short for the summer with some poofiness on the top of his head. I even showed picture inspiration. I'm thinking they'll fluff him out and shorten his hair, NOPE. FIRST of all, it took 5 hours and a half. Absolutely too long. SECOND, my dog is shaved down to the skin, they said he had some matt's but i'd think they'd brush it out or even call to ask if i wanted him shaved down to the skin because of this. Nobody notified me. THIRD, he wasn't even fluffed out brushed nothing. It looks like they air dried him the whole time. Probably why it took 5hrs??? According to Petco's vaccination policy (as shown in the screenshot included in the photos), the rabies vaccine is not required for dogs 16 weeks and younger. My vet does not administer the rabies vaccine to dogs under 16 weeks, so my puppy hasn't received it yet. Since my dog is a standard poodle, she requires more frequent grooming due to the nature of her coat. As she's still a puppy, we're figuring out the right schedule for her grooming appointments. We were preparing to go out of town and she looked ready for grooming, so when we saw that Petco Verona had appointment availability on short notice, it seemed like a good option. Before making the appointment, I made sure she met Petco's vaccination requirements and had physical copies of her up-to-date records. I'm frustrated that I wasted my time preparing and taking my dog to the appointment, only to be turned away upon arrival due to the staff's lack of knowledge about their own company's policies.

There was so many toys for dogs…read moreand cats alike, and the people working (potentially owners?) were very kind and helped me find a great gift for my friend's dog (however, their toughest quality product was torn up by the dog in less than 30 minutes, however that dog it a big adorable oaf). I also got a Lambchop for my cat because I knew how much he would like it.
